LOS ANGELES (July 17, 2012) – FOX Soccer today announced the addition of five exclusive Manchester United preseason friendlies to its slate of summer exhibitions. The agreement brings FOX Soccer’s match count to 10 international friendlies in July and August, featuring the very best of the global game. The centerpiece of United’s three-continent summer tour is an August 8 clash with Spanish giant FC Barcelona. Between them the two teams have seven European Cups, and their summer meeting in Sweden represents a rematch of the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final. All of these new additions are live, with FOX Deportes also carrying the matches live in Spanish.

“Manchester United’s preseason tour is an excellent addition to our summer schedule as we look ahead to the new European season,” said Joshua Glassel, Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions for FOX Soccer. “We believe our fans will enjoy a full spectrum of coverage involving many of their favorite teams, culminating with the Manchester United versus Barcelona showcase event on August 8.”

Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad begins its three-week tour on Wednesday, July 18 in South Africa, followed by a trip to China to face Super League team Shanghai Shenhua and in late July. In August United returns to Western Europe, facing Norway’s Valerenga followed by the Barcelona match in Sweden. All of the club’s top names will be on-hand preparing for the 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season, including English striker Wayne Rooney and Mexican star Chicharito.

Arguably the biggest football club in the world and a 19-time English champion, Manchester United joins domestic rivals Chelsea and Liverpool on FOX Soccer’s summer programming schedule, alongside global power Real Madrid. Last week the network unveiled its first batch of summer friendlies, featuring a Chicago showdown between AS Roma and Poland’s Zaglebie Lubin, along with four contests from the Herbalife World Football Challenge. A complete schedule is listed below, with all Manchester United additions scripted in bold.

Cato has been out for a couple of weeks, he has an MCL sprain.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/soundersfcblog/2018728227_sounders_get_positive_news_on.html?syndication=rss

Midfielders Cordell Cato (MCL sprain) and Alex Caskey (hamstring strain) were new additions to the injury report this week, but both were able to jog through warmups. Both sustained the knocks in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal against Chivas USA. "We just still wanted to go easy with them, because there's no reason to push them today," Schmid said. "Caskey is feeling much better -- could have probably been pushed harder than he went today. Same thing with Cato, although he was pretty close to full in. So again we expect by Monday they should both be fine."

Didn't see the game but had a look on the Oatcake forum and the general concensus seems to be that they picking up where they left off at the end of last season:

They can't pass the ball;

One shot on target whole game (Crew had 18)

Playing ugly;

It is Kenwyne's fault.
.........and may God bless our Nation.

I watched the second half so missed Birchall, but I heard he was good.
De ball rarely ever made it to KJ, so all de grief on that forum is because he wasn't running around all over de place like Sidibe. He was doing alright in my eyes. Nothing spectacular.
Stoke first team is a mess, so their reserves are a debacle. Had Columbus looking like Everton or something.
