Results Women's 4x100m Relay - FINAL
Afternoon session

Final - Friday 10 August 2012 - 20:40
Position   Lane   Team   Country   Mark

2   6   Jamaica

7   3   Brazil

.    4   Trinidad and Tobago
(Michelle-Lee Ahye; Kelly-Ann Baptiste; Kai Selvon; Semoy Hackett)  TRI DNF
   .

Very disappointing result as that bronze medal that Ukraine won could have been ours if only we could have gotten our baton round safely.
Maybe we should have had Hackett starting and Michelle finishing seeing who Michelle was up against on the first leg causing KAB to run off a bit too early just trying to keep up with our competitors.
They need to do a post-mortem on that disappointing performance as we threw away a highly likely Olympic bronze medal today.

If everything goes to form T&T will be competing with Japan for the bronze but we will have the disadvantage of being in lane 9 and not being able to see any of our opponents until the final 100m stretch if we run faster than most of our competitors!

Who besides us on here would have predicted that T&T would have medalled in the 4x400m relay final before this Olympics? Most would have been surprised just to see T&T making the 4x400m relay final.

Congrats to the 4x400m relay team, a new national record and we now are members of the sub 3 minute 4x400m relay club as we should have been a long time ago!

Next target upgrading our Olympic bronze to a silver or gold at World Champs next year with a fit Quow hopefully available and back to 44 mid 400m form!  :beermug:

Bigger than that.. Who would have thought that Lalonde Gordon would have won a Bronze in the 400m. He is the greatest surprise in athletics at the Olympics. Gordon got the  A-standard the final day for team submissions. What Gordon accomplished is huge. He is certainly one of the top 5 athletes in Trinbagos track and field history. Yes a national hero!

Most definitely!!

I think we also have the potential to field a world class Women's 4 x 400m relay team at these major champs but we need to give our female athletes more support and attention.

I'm still feeling hurt by our Women’s 4x100m relay team failing to get the baton round in the final as they stood a decent chance of medalling with a bronze and a new NR but it would have been close between us and Ukraine.

I hope Ms. Carl Lewis remains consistent and casts suspicion on this WR, the largest drop in the event's WR time by the US women, just as he did with the drop in Bolt's 100m time from 10.03 to 9.69 (one year to the next), although it is very plausible that Bolt's 10.03, being his first foray into the event, should naturally be followed by a significant drop, then not as much after that - 9.69 to 9.58.

but we will have the disadvantage of being in lane 9 and not being able to see any of our opponents until the final 100m stretch if we run faster than most of our competitors!

Pro, you don't think an athlete in lane 9 knows he has to run his rabbit off.

Yeah but your competitors will have the advantage of having a target to focus on and catch, while you won't!

Lane 9 is the blind man's lane which is only advantageous to those who are good at running scared!

Wishing the guys all the best tomorrow in the final but based on their present form and what the team is more accustomed to baton passing wise I would feel more confident with Bledman starting and RT anchoring!  :beermug:
