Tigers, Diego Martin in sudden-death semifinal win.
By  Andrew Gioannetti (Guardian).

St Anthony’s College took one step further to reclaiming the Coca-Cola North Zone and National InterCol trophies after the “Tigers” won its third battle of the Saints derby this season, following a 5-4 penalty kick victory over rivals St Mary’s College, after a goalless encounter, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, yesterday.

The result sent the Westmoorings-based College into the title match, where it meets Diego Martin North Secondary, which trumped Trinity College on penalty kicks in a thrilling double-header opener.

The second match was not as eventful, but in the end, St Anthony’s College, which won every match last season, and lost just one (Big-Four semifinal) in this campaign, got the job done once again.

The “Saints”, attempted the counter-attack as it aimed to maintain the opposition’s potent offence, and did just that, as it held the “Tigers” to the final whistle in a battle of tactics from coaches Nigel Grosvenor (St Anthony’s) and Jason Edwards (St Mary’s).

In the end, it was a spot kick from midfield substitute Kadeem Corbin, who sealed the familiar spot in the final for St Anthony’s College.

The opening encounter brought together two teams, Diego Martin North and Trinity College East, which secured perhaps the upsets of this year’s InterCol over Fatima College and East Mucurapo, respectively, in the quarterfinal stage.

Diego Martin’s Keston Frederick sent the match to spot kicks when he scored the equalising goal in the final minute of play, with a wonderful lobbing strike over Trinity custodian Christopher Matthias.

Trinity, which are effectively relegated with a last placed league finish had by all indications, found a spot in the final, as it held on to the narrow lead since the fifth minute of play when Christon Gaspard found the back of the net.

Diego Martin had been a thorn in Trinity’s side throughout the campaign. In fact, the only two wins Diego Martin recorded in the league since its promotion came via 1-0 results against the same Moka-based school.

Meanwhile, down South, runaway league champion Presentation College of San Fernando found an expected berth into the semifinal stage when it whipped newly-promoted Mayaro Secondary 4-1, in the Manny Ramjohn Stadium’s double header opener.

The victory put Presentation into the semifinal where it meets the day’s other winner, St Benedict’s College which defeated Princes Town by the same scoreline.

In the feature match, defending South Zone InterCol champions made light work of its Mayaro opponents, as it came from behind in champions’ fashion with two goals in either half.

Mayaro opened in the 4th minute through a strike from Moriba Descartes, which last only up to the half-hour mark, when “Pres” started the rout. Rakeem levelled in the 31st, before they took the lead in the 40th minute, from the team’s second leading goal-scorer Chivaughn Dimsoy.

Five minutes into the second half, Under-20 national forward Shackiel Henry made a welcomed return with a goal to make it 3-1, before a Mayaro player put the match to rest with an own goal in the 51st minute.

In the second quarterfinal match, lethal attacker Yafeu Rougier scored in either half, tallied an effort from Kyle Ribiero and an own goal in the final minute, to hand Princes Town yet another heavy defeat in a mirror result of their second leg league encounter.

The wins for “Pres” and St Benedict’s put them into Friday’s semifinal, where they meet each other at the same venue, from 5 pm.

Two hours earlier, Shiva Boys and Pleasantville will challenge for the other final spot. Shiva and Pleasantville dropped Moruga and Naparima, respectively in the last-eight stage.

Semifinal action will continue in the Central and Tobago Zones, with double-headers (see fixtures below).

Debe, Tobago’s Bishops vie for girls crown today.
T&T Guardian Reports.

A new champion will be crowned today in the Girls’ BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools’ Football League (SSFL) National InterCol final, when Tobago winner Bishop’s High, takes the trip to South Trinidad, to face favourites Debe Secondary, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, from 3.30 pm.

Debe, which already took the South Zone league title, the Big-Four competition and the Trinidad InterCol title, in yet another successful season, will be aiming for a whitewash of trophies against the Tobago’s underdogs.

The fixture comes just over a week after the two teams met in the Big-Four final, which Debe won by an emphatic 4-1 scoreline. None other than top national junior forward Kayla Taylor was on target with a splendid hat-trick to lead her team to victory.

More recently, Taylor bagged a brace to secure Debe the Trinidad InterCol title, on Monday, with a 2-0 victory over St Augustine Secondary.

Bishop’s, meanwhile, defied the odds after claiming the Tobago title with a 3-2 win over Scarborough Secondary, for the first time in the school’s history. It will be another first for the girls clad in maroon and white if they manage to secure the National title, the most prestigious in local schools’ football.

Bishop’s won the Tobago InterCol title, compliments of a double from captain Kristen Julien and a late strike from April Ewing.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Debe girls claim National InterCol title.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Unbeaten South Zone champion, Debe Secondary added yet another major title to its illustrious trophy cabinet yesterday, as it defeated Bishop’s High of Tobago by a three-goal margin for the second time in less than two weeks, to claim the BGTT/First Citizens Girls’ National InterCol title.

The victory, which took place at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, came ten days after Debe demolished Bishop’s 4–1 at the same venue.

On Monday, Debe sealed its third title this season with a 2–0 victory over the formidable St Augustine Secondary.

Incredibly, national youth attacker Kayla Taylor, who scored eight goals in three finals this season added another to her bag, when she scored yesterday’s second goal.

The two teams, however, seemed to be heading into the break with the scores deadlocked, but a 39th minute strike from another junior national player Patrice Vincent, a minute before the half, gave Debe a 1–0 lead.

Debe returned even stronger in the second half, and doubled up with yet another goal from Taylor in the 65th. Two minutes before full time, Vincent got her second as Bishop’s was left to accept yet another bitter loss to perhaps the most successful school in girls’ football.

Debe Secondary topped the South Zone league championship without slipping up. It won every match, before advancing to the South Zone InterCol stage, where in the final it had possibly its trickiest test against last year’s National InterCol winner Vessigny. In the end Debe won 3-2 despite a late surge from the rivals.

Subsequently, Debe defeated Bishop’s of Tobago in the Big-Four final, to avenge last season’s 1–0 loss to El Dorado.

The final hurdle Debe faced before reaching the final was against St Augustine Secondary, which scored far more goals than any other school this year, but the East Zone champion met its match, and suffered a 2–0 defeat.

RESULTS [BGTT/First Citizens Girls’ National InterCol]

Debe Secondary 3 (Patrice Vincent 39th, 78th, Kayla Taylor 65th) vs Bishop’s High (Tobago) 0

Holder hat-trick sinks Tabaquite.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Recently crowned Big-Five champion Carapichaima East Secondary took one step further to claiming another title when it thrashed newly-promoted Tabaquite Secondary 7–1, for a berth in the Coca-Cola Central InterCol final, yesterday.

The win for “Caps” was decided in the first match of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, which was followed by a similarly one-sided affair with Chaguanas North whipping Couva West 5–1. The victory also secured Chaguanas action in next Tuesday’s title decider, to be staged at the same venue.

“Caps”, which narrowly took the Central Zone league title for the ninth consecutive season, was relentless with top forward Shaquille Holder scoring a hat-trick. Holder who was on National U-20 duty, while his school lifted its first ever Big-Five title, returned to initiate the scoring in the 12th minute. His strike was doubled two minutes later by Marvin Martin.

Two more goals came in the first half, compliments of a brace from a similarly in-form Leon Whyle (30th, 39th). Twenty minutes into the second half Keon Nicholls made it 5–0, before Holder put the match to rest with a further two items in the final ten minutes.

In the second match, Chaguanas North Secondary, which was edged out for a second place league finish by “Caps” were also ignited by a hat-trick from Jaron Humphrey. David Maloney scored from the penalty spot in the 20th minute for Chaguanas, followed by an effort in the final seconds of the first period through Humphrey.

Two minutes into the restart Jaffet Williams pulled one back, but Chaguanas was spurred on with quick-fire goals from Humphrey who completed his hat-trick just before the hour mark. The scoring was finalised in the 73rd minute via a Justin Marshall effort.

Today, action will resume in the East and South Zones where a double-header will be staged at the respective stadia.

The Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, will play host to the East Zone semifinals, beginning at 2 pm with a clash between St Augustine Secondary and El Dorado West Secondary. St Augustine advanced to the last four phase with an easy 4–0 victory over relegated Toco eight days ago, while El Dorado West, overcame San Juan North on penalties after a 3–3 thriller. St Augustine won the league double over today’s opposition by a combined 8–0 scoreline.

The second match between East Zone league champions Arima North and Trinity East Secondary is expected to be a more constricted affair, with not much separating the two teams this season. Arima was held 2–2 in the first leg, before edging the fifth-placed finishers 1–0 in the second. Arima is the East Zone InterCol title holder. The school dropped San Juan North 1–0 in the final last year.

In the South Zone, defending InterCol and recently crowned league champion Presentation College of San Fernando will come up against St Benedict’s College, in the second match at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, from 5 pm. Coming off a disappointing loss to eventual champion Carapichaima North Secondary in the Big-Five competition, the Shawn Cooper-coached school will be eager to bounce back with a win for a spot in Wednesday’s zonal final.

St Benedict’s has not had the best of luck against “Pres” this season. En route to a league victory which comprised a win in each of its 12 matches, Presentation got the better of St Benedict’s with two 3–1 wins. In the first South Zone match, league runner up Shiva Boys will take on second-from-bottom Pleasantville, at 3 pm.

Shiva, too, won both legs 3–1 and 1–0 in league action.

And, while Shiva starts the match as favourites, Pleasantville will be aiming for another upset, a week after its penalty kick victory over Naparima. The match ended 2–2 after regulation time. Shiva Boys, as expected, whipped Moruga 5–0 in the other quarterfinal match last week.

Today’s InterCol fixtures

East Zone semifinals

St Augustine vs El Dorado West, Larry Gomes Stadium, 2 pm
Arima North vs Trinity East, Larry Gomes Stadium, 4 pm

South Zone semifinals

Shiva Boys vs Pleasantville, Manny Ramjohn Stadium, 3 pm
St Benedict’s vs Presentation, Manny Ramjohn Stadium, 5 pm

Pres to meet Shiva in South final.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Defending zonal InterCol champion Presentation College of San Fernando took one step further to retaining its crown after sealing a comfortable 4-2 victory over St Benedict’s College, in the semifinal match of the Coca-Cola South Zone InterCol competition, yesterday.

Presentation was the second team to seal a spot in the South title match after Shiva Boys Hindu College opened the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, double-header with an easy 4-0 win at the expense of Pleasantville Secondary.

The opening match saw Presentation take control from the onset, before St Benedict’s attempted to mount a late comeback.

In only the sixth, the run-away South Zone league champion took the lead through a strike from Mathias Hall. It took less than 20 minutes for “Pres” to record its second, this time from Keagan Ellis, who pipped in his second of the season. With the score locked at 2-0 at the half time, Presentation was in cruise control. In the 57th minute, the lead swelled to 3-0 with the school and zonal top scorer Shackiel Henry bagging yet another item to his name.

It was Henry’s second goal in as many matches, following up from this effort against recently promoted Mayaro Secondary, which lost 4-1 against the champions in Wednesday’s quarterfinal. Henry, who was on duty with the national U-20 team, while his team lost to eventual champion Carapichaima East in the Big-Five preliminary match, recorded his 27th item for the school this season, yesterday.

After Henry’s goal, St Benedict’s surged forward and managed to pull two goals back thanks to standout attacker Yafeu Rougier, who scored in the 74th and 81st minutes, but it was not enough as they dropped to a successive third loss to “Pres” this season.

In the other South Zone semifinal, Shiva Boys also defeated its opponent Pleasantville for the third time this season, this time by the biggest margin, 4-0. All goals came from different scorers. Shavon Diaz and Judah Peters scored in the first half, followed by effort from Nathaniel Garcia and a penalty from Dwight pope.

In the East, St Augustine and defending zonal InterCol champion Arima North will meet in the final after completing contrasting wins over El Dorado West and Trinity College East, respectively. St Augustine opened with an expected 4-1 triumph over “El Do”, while Arima North required a penalty shootout to defeat Trinity.

Antonio Auguste scored a last minute effort to take the match straight to stop kicks, after Marcus Gomez seemingly won the match with a goal in the 80th minute. However, with the players lined up for their spot kicks, a missed Trinity effort, meant that Gomez would win the match if he converted. He did, which sealed final action for Arima North yet again.

The final will be contested on Monday at the Larry Gomez Stadium, from 4 pm. The South Zone final between Presentation and Shiva, will be at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, at 4 pm.

Today’s InterCol Results

East Semifinals

St Augustine 4 (Maurice Ford 83rd, Nicholas Marcano 58th, Ricardo John 73rd, 84th) v El Dorado West 1 (Stephon Lewis 83rd)

Arima North 1 (Marcus Gomez 80th) v Trinity College 1 (Antonio Auguste 90th pen)
After Penalties - Arima North 5 v Trinity College 4

South Semifinals

Speyside Secondary upset Scarborough Secondary 2-1 to win Tobago Zone Intercol Final today (November 19th). Bachannal after the match as Speyside supporters went on to the field. Army personnel tried to keep them off. One Scarborough Sec player was 'jacked up' by the same army personnel (he shoulda have been slapped hard front and back hand). Congrats to Speyside Secondary. 1st Tobago Zone Championship U-19.

I disagree there. The Army guy was too overzealous in his "attack" on the youth man. After the army man first grabbed his throat he did it again, fighting through his other soldiers and grabbed the boys throat again.... Totally uncalled for.

Not doubting that the army man was 'excited to slap up someone', but the player's actions including being very threatening to either one or many fans and/or a player/players. Added to that he took his boots off and threw in through the plexi-glass covering the bench. He was looking to get his backside dropped. Not good behavior by many but he was asking for someone to slap him (the scar. sec players). I dare say the army man showed a minimal amt. of restraint by not taking the player down to the ground.

If he had taken him down to the ground and thereby restrained him then ok. But that is not what he did. There was no attempt to restrain but he was in attack mode.

Typical army man mentality. You have to wonder why were there army personnel there, and not police or even security. Ah well....Well done Speyside.

'Green Machine' win rough East final.
By Roger Seepersad (Express).

"Green Machine" St Augustine Secondary were crowned Coca Cola Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) East Zone InterCol champions after edging eight-man Arima North Secondary 1-0 in the zonal final at Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar yesterday.

St Augustine led 1-0 at the half after Nicholas Marcano's free kick from just outside the penalty area went all along the ground into the bottom corner of the net past Shundell Mayers in goal for Arima.

The goal came after St Augustine had created some good chances to score in the first half and after Arima were reduced to ten men when Francois Jomoul was sent off in the 17th minute for obscene language.

Even with ten men Arima, the East Zone League champions, fought hard in the second half to try and level the scores but the St Augustine defence somehow kept Arima at bay.

Arima's assault on goal started in the 57th minute with Kwasi Windsor's scintillating run down the right side.

When he eventually crossed the ball, most of the Arima players were waiting inside the box and two shots on goal followed, with one blocked by the defence and the other saved by St Augustine goalkeeper Romario Romain.

Windsor himself got into the action when his effort was deflected by a St Augustine defender.

The action kept going at the other end two minutes later, with St Augustine's Aikim Andrews passing to Shannon Gomez who found Jordan Devonish with just the Arima keeper to beat, but Devonish's shot went well wide of goal.

Arima kept attacking with Sampson Taryk's shot sailing just wide of the mark.

St Augustine had another good opportunity to double their lead in the 69th minute after they won a free kick just outside the penalty area after Andrews went down.

Marcano, the St Augustine goalscorer from the first half failed to replicate his earlier success, hitting this one hard and way over the bar. But it was Arima who then really lost the plot and had two more players ejected from the game.

In the 75th minute, Kern Roberts was shown the red card for violent conduct, while Marcus Gomez was ejected for a second yellow card.

Arima's captain Rondell Elie was also cautioned in the match, while St Augustine's Akeem Garcia and Marcano were also shown yellow cards.

Windsor kept playing attacking football up front and was still creating good chances to score but Arima did not have the personnel to support him.

In the other zonal final yesterday, Speyside Secondary defeated Scarborough Secondary 2-1 at Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago.

Speyside will now meet St Augustine in the National InterCol quarter-final on Friday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.

Yesterday's InterCol Scores

East Zone Final

Arima 0 vs St Augustine Secondary 1 (Nicholas Marcano 43rd)

Tobago Zone Final

Speyside 2 vs Scarborough 1

It was unacceptable with Pres last year, but somewhat understandable with Shiva this year.  As I heard it...apparently the Shiva player had gotten a yellow card in the league game and another one in the Intercol game.  Apparently they approached the SSFL for confirmation on whether the two cards stood or whether the player could take the field.  They said they got clearance from the administrators to play the youthman.  From the time he took the field the Pville mgt was already deciding to protest.  PVille won the protest and is now scheduled to play Pres tomorrow.  However, Shiva who claims to have it in black and white that they got permission to play the guy...protested the protest and a meeting was scheduled for today to decide the finalists.  No word on that one yet.

Chaguanas North gets revenge on ‘Caps’
T&T Guardian Reports.

Chaguanas North Secondary yesterday captured its first ever piece of major silverware after defeating Carapichaima East Secondary 4-3 on penalty kicks, in the Coca-Cola Central InterCol, at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

It was a case of retribution for the Chaguanas school, which never managed to lift the league or InterCol titles, while the much more celebrated Carapichaima had its target of sealing all titles this season end abruptly.

Carapichaima won the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Central Zone title earlier this season after seeing its 2-1 loss to Chagaunas North reversed by the league’s disciplinary committee, due to the latter team fielding an ineligible player.

And, despite appeals from Chaguanas North which indicated they were given permission to field the said player, the decision by the disciplinary team was never overturned. However, yesterday, Chaguanas North effectively exacted revenge from the penalty spot after both teams were locked at 1-1.

Chaguanas attacker David Maloney opened in the 48th minute but the lead lasted all of 25 minutes, before Caps’ leading scorer Shaquille Holder grabbed the all-important equaliser.

The spot-kick win put the Central Zone league runner-up into the National InterCol semifinal, where they meet the winner of Friday’s clash between inaugural Tobago winner Speyside Secondary and East Zone’s St Augustine.

Today, what was originally scheduled to be the final of the South Zone InterCol competition between Presentation College of San Fernando and Shiva Boys, will instead be a replay of a semifinal between Shiva and Pleasantville Secondary, which reached to the league’s disciplinary committee subsequent to an appeal from the latter team.

The two teams met in the first semifinal match last Friday, with Shiva ending the match 4-0 victors. However, following the match, Pleasantville appealed to the committee advising that a Shiva Boys player who received a red card in his school’s 5-0 win over Moruga in the quarterfinal stage was not eligible to play in the semifinal.

Shiva, however, claimed that they were instructed that the player was in fact eligible to play from a member of the league’s committee, which ultimately led to the decision that the match should be replayed rather than the win be awarded to Pleasantville.

The winner of today’s semifinal will meet runaway league champion and Big-Four finalist Presentation College in the final sometime next week.

Tomorrow, reigning InterCol champion St Anthony’s College will face already relegated and surprise finalist Trinity College in the North Zone title match, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain, at 4 pm.

Finally, on Friday, the National InterCol quarterfinal will kick off when first ever Tobago champion Speyside Secondary faces the more recognizable “Green Machine” of St Augustine Secondary.

Chaguanas new Central Intercol champs.
T&T Newsday Reports.

Chaguanas are the new Coca Cola Intercol Central Zonal champions, after they dethroned Carapichaima 4-3, via kicks from the penalty spot, in yesterday’s decider at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

The scores were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, with David Maloney putting Chaguanas in front after 49 minutes before Shaquille Holder equalised in the 74th.

But Chaguanas were more clinical with their spot-kicks as they earned their first major title in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL).

Yesterday’s result was a measure of revenge for the Chaguanas camp, who felt aggrieved earlier this season when, due to a disciplinary ruling by the League, Carapichaima were awarded crucial points which meant they successfully defended their SSFL Championship Division Central Zone crown, and hence proceeded to claim the Big Five title.

On Monday, St Augustine edged 2011 winners Arima 1-0 for the East Zonal title while, in the sister isle, Speyside copped the Tobago Zonal trophy by virtue of a 2-1 victory over Scarborough at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet.

Chaguanas, St Augustine and Speyside have progressed to the National Intercol competition, which will feature the five Zonal Intercol winners, starting on Friday. Today the spotlight will be at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, with Presentation San Fernando meeting Shiva Boys’ for the South crown.

In the semis, Presentation eliminated St Benedict’s 3-2 while Shiva Boys’ disposed of Pleasantville 4-0.

During the Championship Division, Presentation earned 1-0 victories over Shiva on September 26 and October 20.

The last Zonal Final will take place tomorrow featuring St Augustine and Diego Martin, for the North title.

Shiva; Pleasantville match to be re-played.

Today, what was originally scheduled to be the final of the South Zone InterCol competition between Presentation College of San Fernando and Shiva Boys, will instead be a replay of a semifinal match between Shiva Boys and Pleasantville Secondary, which reached to the league’s disciplinary committee subsequent to an appeal from the latter team.

You see the kinda shit that does go on in this place.  That is another reason why our football cant progress at the rate it supposed to.
If a player get a red card in a game...unless the issuance of the card is under protest (which was never specifically said)...why then should a team approach the league admins and ask is he could be allowed to play in the next game.  And on top of that, get consent from one of the league officials that said the player is allowed to play when that is in direct contradiction of the rules.

Shiva blanks Pleasantville again.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Shavon Diaz and Kyle Thomas scored second-half items as Shiva Boys moved a step closer to retaining their South Zone Secondary Schools Football League Coca-Cola InterCol crown, after blanking Pleasantville 2-0 in their semifinal at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday.

Diaz opened the scoring on the hour mark against a plucky Pleasantville line-up while Thomas added the insurance item 12 minutes later to secure a second win in six days over the same team.

This after both teams were forced to replay last week’s semifinal match which ended in favour of Shiva 4-0.

Following Shiva’s win last Friday, Pleasantville appealed to the SSFL’s Disciplinary Committee on the grounds that a Shiva Boys player, who received a red card in his school’s 5-0 win over Moruga in the quarterfinal stage was not eligible to play in the semifinal.

Shiva, however, claimed that they were instructed that the player was in fact eligible to play from a member of the league’s committee, a decision which was supported by the league’s disciplinary committee and which ultimately led to the decision that the match be replayed rather be given as a win Pleasantville.

Due to the match being replayed, the final which was originally carded for yesterday will now be played on Monday against reigning South Zone league champion Presentation College of San Fernando which edged St Benedict’s College 3-2 in Friday’s other semifinal. The match will take place at Marabella from 4 pm.

Today, St Anthony’s College will be favourites to complete the North Zone double for yet another season when it faces surprise finalist and league debutant, Diego Martin North at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo from 4 pm.

While the “Westmooring Tigers” will be fancied to claim a second straight zonal double they will know all too well, that their Diego Martin North rivals, will not be a team to be taken lightly, after both teams played to 0-0 draws twice during the league campaign.

In the previous round, the Tigers, the reigning zonal and national InterCol holders, battled past St Mary’s 5-4 on penalty-kicks while league debutants, Diego Martin North overcame Trinity College, 11-10 on sudden-death penalties after a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time.

At stake for the winner of today’s final is a semifinal meeting with the South Zone winner on Wednesday at Marabella from 4 pm.

Newly crowned Central Zone InterCol winners, Chaguanas North is already through to the semis where it awaits the winner of tomorrow’s lone quarterfinal between Tobago winner, Speyside and East champion, St Augustine which takes place at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, from 4 pm.

I listened to Dexter Francis' post game interview and up to now he hasn't stated the reason for approaching the SSFL to seek permission for the player who was red-carded to play.  All he saying is that they got permission for him to play.  I find it rather strange that they got permission from "a member of the league's committee" to play a red carded player.  This coming after the fiasco caused in the Central zone a couple weeks ago when a similiar incident occurred between Caps and Chag North where again a committee member gave a red carded player permission to play in the finals which Caps lost to Chag North.  Caps eventually went on to win the League Title, even though Chag North eventually won the protest afterwards.
I would think that the SSFL would have learnt how to treat with members taking it upon themselves to tell schools which players are eligible to play when in direct contravention of the bylaws.

The question that begs a response is if the league's disciplinary committee supported the decision to allow the player to take the field, then why would they call for a rematch?  PVille should have just lost the protest and we move on to the finals that should have been played yesterday.  Now them boys have to play the finals on Monday and one of the teams have to play again on Wednesday against a well rested North champs who play today.

St Anthony's bag North InterCol title.
By Roger Seepersad (Express).

St Anthony's College successfully defended their Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Coca Cola North Zone InterCol title, yesterday, defeating Diego Martin North Secondary 4-2 on penalties after the sides were deadlocked 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

St Anthony's came back from a 1-0 first half deficit to take a 2-1 lead in the second period before Diego Martin North Secondary equalised through a penalty late in the game to tie up the scores.

Aaron Joseph put Diego ahead in the 33rd minute before the Tigers roared back with items from Adrian Millette in the 56th and substitute Dwayne Caliste in the 65th. It looked like game, set and match, but Diego found a way back in the 85th minute, from the penalty spot, when Josh Toussaint converted to level the scores to force a penalty shootout.

Diego missed their first kick in the shootout and had their third saved by St Anthony's keeper Javon Sample, while the Tigers scored four in a row to seal the win and a place in the national semifinals, next week.

St Anthony's dominated possession for the majority of the game, and could have gone ahead 1-0 in the second minute of the match when the Diego Martin defence fell asleep, allowing Xavier Rajpaul a free header inside the box. His effort, however, was off target.

Ten minutes later, Diego Martin were awarded a penalty, but Christian Vincent could not deliver the goal, placing his effort well wide.

Diego had another chance to take the lead half hour into the game when a free kick found Christopher Biggette inside the penalty area. His shot rebounded off a defender and fell to Joseph whose shot was well wide of goal.

Diego Martin would eventually make up for the lapse, finally taking the lead three minutes later when Toussaint's bullet slipped out of Sample's hands and was slotted home from close range by Joseph.

After that, the Tigers went on an all-out assault, with shots coming in from all sides, the best of which came off of Rajpaul's boot. He found space to turn and shoot at the edge of the penalty area, but his effort sailed wide.

St Anthony's had a golden opportunity to level the scores in the first minute of the second half when Brandon Lastiquot brought down a St Anthony's player in the penalty area. However, the resulting penalty, taken by Tigers captain Jamali Garcia, was well saved by Diego keeper Perry Lee O'Cconor.

The Tigers maintained the pressure, and eventually equalised from a corner. Adrian Millette got his head to the ball, sending it past O'Connor at the near post.

St Anthony's looked like taking the lead, and eventually did so through Caliste who came on as a substitute early in the second half.

The Westmoorings Tigers finished the game with ten men after Kwesi Allen was ejected in the 90th minute for his second yellow card.

St Anthony's will now meet the South champions in a National InterCol semifinal, next Wednesday, at Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from four p.m.

The South zone InterCol champions will be decided on Monday when league winners Presentation College San Fernando take on Shiva Boys' Hindu College in the final, at Manny Ramjohn Stadium from p.m.

Today, Tobago Zone InterCol champions, Speyside Secondary will be in action against East InterCol winners, St Augustine East Secondary in the National quarterfinal, at Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago from four p.m.

The winners of today's National quarterfinal will face Central Zone InterCol champions, Chaguanas North Secondary in a National InterCol semifinal, on Tuesday, at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, also from four p.m.

Speyside 3 St. Augustine East Sec 6 (yes...9 goals were scored). I got in when the score was already 2-0 'Gustine (missed about 25 mins of first half....coaching Bishop's U-14 boys team). Speyside got one late in the first half then scored two more within 15 mins of the 2nd half restart to take the lead 3-2. 'Gustine pulled one back approx. 10 mins later. One of Speyside's central defenders got sent off for his 2nd yellow card offence which allowed 'gustine to run rampant for the last 20 mins. St. Augustine East Sec will now face Chaguanas North Secondary in one half of the National InterCol semifinal.

Blessings and enjoy the night.

Speyside whipped 6-3 as ‘Gustine’ heads to semis.
By Clayton Clarke (Guardian).

Akeem Garcia netted a late double to help St Augustine Secondary whip Speyside 6-3 in the Coca-Cola InterCol quarterfinal clash at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago, yesterday.

The Green Machine took the lead in as early as the third minute when Aikim Andrews slotted home his team’s first goal.

His teammate Triston Hodge got the second item from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after Speyside’s goalkeeper Tevin Joseph brought down Garcia in the penalty box. Hodge stepped up and hit a left-footed shot to the right side of the goal. Joseph had no chance as he dove to his left.

St Augustine’s Nicholas Marcano troubled the Speyside defender with his curling free-kicks and corners. The tall and well-built player had several shots on goals but they went abegging.

Speyside came alive as Brandon Benjamin and Marcus Caesar were on the attack for the home team. Benjamin eventually found the back of net in the 34th minute with a diving header off a free kick on the right-hand side. However, it was St Augustine going in at the half with 2-1 advantage.

On the resumption both outfits came out attacking. Caesar got on the scoresheet with a chip over the advancing keeper Romario Romain in the 51st minute, to send the Speyside supporters dancing. The cheering urged on the boys from east Tobago as Benjamin got his second goal in the 57th minute to take a 3-2 lead and swing the momentum in favour of the Kerry Lynch-coached team.

However, St Augustine responded immediately with Garcia hitting the first of his double in the 61st to level the scores 3-3. Ricardo John (77th) came some 16 minutes later to give “Gustine” a 4-3 lead with Garcia returning in the 81st to head in a cross, and put his team further ahead 5-3.

The Speyside players tried to step up their game but their chances were dented when central defender Kendel Dates was sent off after his second card. Marcano’s determination was rewarded when he completed the six-goal feast in the 90th minute.

St Augustine Secondary will face Chaguanas North in the semifinals. Coach Michael Grayson shared that his team did not know much about Speyside before the game. “We spent the first 10 minutes trying to assess them. After that, we knew how to play them,” said Grayson.

He added he was worried when Speyside were up 3-2 saying: “I got a little scared but was not too concerned. Some of our players were not playing their game.”

Grayson was happy though that his side were able to score six goals for the first time this season and added that the players will have to work on their ball possession and improve on their finishing ahead of their clash with Chaguanas North.

Results

St Augustine 6 (Aikim Andrews 3rd; Triston Hodge 24th, Akeem Garcia 61st, 81st, Ricardo John 77th; Nicholas Marcano 90th) vs Speyside High 3 (Brandon Benjamin 34th, 57th, Marcus Caesar 51st).

Just watch St Agustine vs Speyside in the Colleges.

St Agustine have three players that are very good in my books. Unfortunately.

I cannot get names only numbers central midfielders 11 & 8. Wide player 7 very tricky
and a number 9 who did well up front but he was up against weak defending.

Micheal Grayson brought on the 11 when the score was 3-3, and he change the game completely. he set up two and scored one to make it 6-3.

Grayson moved the 7 from wide Right to wide left and his cutting inside upset Speyside defending.
the 8 is a holding type midfielder who have real energy and supports the team well defensively and in attack.

Speyside had a deadly striker I think he scored two goals, but he is very dangerous. Nice turn on his first touch, finish with both feet and is good in the air.

No. 7 Aikem Andrews - National U17
No. 8 Shannon Gomez National U17 & U20
No. 9 Akeem Garcia National U 17 & U20

And yes agreed that No. 11 was the game changer.
