Pro League game scrapped as refs forget to show up

Forgetful referees KO Pro League fixture.
By Lasana Liburd (wired868).

A rescheduled Digicel Pro League fixture between defending champions DirecTV W Connection and newcomers Central FC descended into farce tonight after no referees turned up to officiate at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

The unofficial word from the Pro League administrative staff is that Trinidad and Tobago Referees Association head Krishna Kuarsingh, who is also a Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) vice-president, allegedly admitted that he forgot to assign officials for the game.

Wired868 was unable to reach Kuarsingh or Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene by phone for comment.

However, Central and W Connection representatives were furious in Marabella while patrons and vendors were also left fuming at the farcical situation.

Connection president David John Williams insisted that Kuarsingh and the Referees Association must be held responsible for the loss in monetary terms and reputation suffered by the Pro League tonight.

“I am extremely disappointed and I think it is highly reckless of the referees’ association,” Williams told Wired868. “Whichever team won tonight would have gone to the top of the Pro League. Something like this affects the reputation of the League and the referees will hear more about this.”

Hey, Trinidadians is really slackers sah, them f00ckers dont care about nothing.

Then again, Kuarsingh must he faith away while jocking he prick in a lathrin in Tunapuna and couldn't show up, take care something really went wrong though with him.

De league should have back up referees just in case of emergencies though.

Poor planinng does kill crowd support.

Not really. There should always be a contingency. In this instance, surely there must have been 3 officials available south of Grand Bazaar who could have been notified at 5pm? Game could have been pushed back to 7pm k.o.

In these modern times this still happening?

None of the refs had a cell phone?

The refs needs to be accountable for this.

How can you blame the refs when non was assigned? The TTRA head, Kuarsingh is at fault which still unacceptable.
The headline is misleading...

Actually, it wasn't the TT Referees Association either. If we all recall, the TTFF no longer recognise TTRA and instead created the TT Referees Committee of which Mr Kuarsingh is head.
