Kicker whey yuh?  ;D

Epic game... Georgetown actually played a nice brand of football, de yankee college version of Swansea with that high pressure and a preferred short passing attack.  Ironically enough though it was a few diagonal long balls over the top that was Maryland's undoing time after time.  Georgetown played all over that team in the first half.  Missed the second half and extra time, came back in just in time to see the shootout.  Epic!

Didn't think there'd be much interest in NCAA Soccer in the main football thread.

Georgetown will face an uphill battle against Indiana.. who have made a record 14 title appearances now, with 7 championships, including over Shaka Hislop's Howard University Bisons in 1988.  Georgetown is making it's first title appearance.

To be honest, the program always got great support, we just didn't have great players.  It was hard recruiting in the Big East with schools like St. John's, UCONN and Notre Dame.  The DC area has a lot of talent, relatively speaking.  What this coach has done was to take a number of second-tier recruits, mixed in with a few blue chip ones and honed a nice squad.  Their style of play is what's really eye-opening though, they don't play a typical US college style (watch them revert tomorrow after ah talk them up, lol), they press high and really know how to maintain possession.  The program has come a very long way... a very satisfying process to see really.
