soccerman, good question, the TTFA could always say they made a mistake and select Peltier !!

I will send this to the TTFA.

So was Bostock a mistake or not?

On another note, do you know if any questions was asked about Peltier joining the team in the future?

Hyland in Gold Cup squad
...Bateau blanked
By Ian Prescott (Express).

RACING GENT midfielder Khaleem Hyland is included in Trinidad and Tobago’s 23-man squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but the decision by Mechelen defender Sheldon Bateau to rest from last month’s internationals in Europe may have backfired, since he is deemed surplus-to-requirement.

Both players were back with their Belgium clubs and not in T&T’s camp prior to T&T head-coach Stephen Hart naming his squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, yesterday.

The Gold Cup takes place in the United States from July 7-28, and is the showpiece football event for national football teams in the Caribbean, North and Central American regions.

Having not qualified for the two previous tournaments, T&T will line up alongside champions Mexico, United States, Canada, Martinique, Haiti, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Panama. T&T open their campaign on July 8 against El Salvador in New Jersey, before playing Haiti in Florida on July 10 and Honduras in Houston on July 15.

The T&T players will have their last training session this morning, and will take a break tomorrow. On Sunday, the T&T squad will leave for the Gold Cup. Joining the rest of the squad in Miami will be Hyland and Kevin Molino, who was on duty for his American club in midweek. Veteran Dutch coach Leo Beenhakker will also join the squad in the USA when taking up his role as Director of Football.

Both Belgium-based footballers, Hyland and Bateau cited the need for rest as the reason for opting out of representing T&T in last month’s international friendly matches against Romania and Estonia.

But while 24-year-old Hyland played recently against Peru, has 33 national caps and is considered an integral part of the T&T midfield, 22 year-old former National Under-23 captain Bateau has just one senior team cap, and is among several young defenders up for consideration. Hyland was in T&T recently, until told by his club to return to Belgium.

“Hyland’s club demanded that he return to Belgium,” stated T&T team manager William Wallace. “But Hyland was considered and we are trying to get him out of Belgium to join the team in the United States. Bateau was not considered.”

Among those missing the cut are W Connection midfielder Clyde Leon and Defence Force striker Devorn Jorslyn. But England-based Kenwyne Jones, Chris Birchall, Andre Boucard and Justin Hoyte have all gotten the nod. Other players not considered for several reasons, including injury, were Hughton Hector, Kevin Jagdeosingh, Lester Peltier, Willis Plaza, Ronald Primus and Leston Paul.

I want and I think the fans NEED an explanation on why Guerra is absent as well as Hector.. I know Hector was injured for the last 2 match days in June so maybe he has not recovered but the Guerra absence is puzzling

He's been part of the T&T squad for over a year and now a pro footballer and only getting better

Gutted for him... no way Hart could have decided on his character without knowing him as Hart is fair and would give anyone the chance

so If he was left out due to a fall out that means the old staff have brought word ie Charles and King which is what I was worried about in the first place with them coming into the new set up

That old staff of Shabazz Charles and King had way too many bust ups with players.. Peltier Hyland etc..

I really hope Guerra is injured so this doesnt become some big fiasco because talent wise he is one of the best we have and a true weapon on the field

I've read a lot of threads about the Gold Cup 2013, but none have indicated what tv station in the US is broadcasting the T&T games?

Tallman, I cant believe Ian Prescott is and has been a writer for a top T&T newspapers. He makes mistakes most of the time he writes anything....

For example, he had the dates for the games off yesterday and now today, he say we playing Haiti on the 10th.

Not to mention who is: Hughton Hector, Kevin Jagdeosingh, Lester Peltier, Willis Plaza, Ronald Primus and how did Leston Paul name get called in this ? he wasn't ever close to the T&T teams in over 4 years years.

Lester Peltier, Willis Plaza and Clyde Leon was not even on the Preliminary roster so obviously they will not get picked. Unless Leon was the number 34 player that was a typo.

There's no way this squad will start this game, i believe that that bleeder would start over hyland, not my choice, but i think hyland is coming off an injury, and there's no way hart would start him. jones and glen in the middle is a no no, we will play with one strike, watch.

IMO glenn is a super sub, and hyland would replace bleedder after bleeder ran his heart out, i also believe that keon will not walk on the team after his lay off, he to IMO would work as a super sub.

but with these exceptions, the rest of the squad seems correct.

Jan Williams should be captain.

Carlos should be vice captain.

Theobald should be third captain.

Our left side defence is weak, teams will kills us once they figure that out. Carlos is a better right back than Hoyte, Hoyte does make lil mistakes in de back.

Gay and Jones have same style, so they cant start together.

Molino, Roberts and Carter could play striker to, SH need to be creative and not waste to much time with Jones and Gay if they not scoring.

Roberts and Abu Bakr is two waste of pick. We shoulda go with Hughtun Hector and Kern Cupid and if Hector not fit then go with Guerra. Roberts does run up and down de field and do nothing.... de ground balls will kill Abu Bakr.....

According to Hart on CNC3 this morning, Theobald is the captain. He also said he is going to select players as back up should Theobald become injured.

Hart pick that side based on 2 training sessions?

Jorsling better than Gay if you want somebody to find the net, any day...but I guess we playing with one forward (Kenwyne) with Cornell off the bench again, so Gay there for the future. I doh mind that reasoning.

Apparently Jake Thomson real fall off. Last I check he was playing for some lowwww level side in England and not starting regularly.

The information I have is that Guerra's absence is due to visa problems, not for footballing reasons.
