Texas victory for Spann

Story Created: Feb 17, 2013 at 10:56 PM ECT Olympic Games men's 4x400 metres bronze medallist Jarrin Solomon finished third in the men's 600 metres event, at the Millrose Games, in New York, USA, on Saturday night.
The Trinidad and Tobago athlete returned a time of one minute, 16.19 seconds—a new Central American and Caribbean (CAC) indoor record.
The top two spots went to Americans Erik Sowinski (1:15.61) and Duane Solomon (1:16.04).
Michelle-Lee Ayhe produced a PR (personal record) in the women's 60m dash. The T&T sprinter clocked 7.32 seconds to finish eighth. English Gardner struck gold in 7.19, beating her fellow Americans Jeneba Tarmoh (7.22) and Lauryn Williams (7.24) into second and third, respectively.
At the South Plains College Indoor Invitational, in Texas, T&T's Kernesha Spann grabbed gold in the women's 400m. The Western Texas College student stopped the clock at 57.22 seconds.
South Plains College sprinter Shun-Shauna Mason finished second in the women's 60m dash in 7.30 seconds and fourth in the 200m in 24.51.
In North Carolina, T'Keyah Dumoy seized silver in the Kent Taylor Invitational women's long jump with a 5.56 metres leap. The Florida International University (FIU) student also competed in the 60m dash, bagging bronze in 7.62 seconds.
At the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championships, in Iowa, Dan-Neil Telesford finished third in the men's 200m event in 22.40 seconds.
His Iowa Central Community College teammate, Jessica James copped third spot in the women's 600m in 1:37.38.
And Aaron Leung Woo-Gabriel finished ninth overall in the Kansas State University (KSU) Open men's 60m dash. The Wichita State University sprinter got to the line in 7.15 seconds.
