Belize is another nation that had a program in place ... one that dates back to when I was a schoolboy. This isn't anything new fuh sure. Taiwanese are another group that subscribed to the program there. Not sure whether they're still riding that wave. However, it would be interesting to learn whether there are any telling correlations between applicants from the Middle East and environs during Said Musa's time as Prime Minister of Belize.
These types of programmes are also a potential source of corruption.
The other message in the article is that (some) regional passports are valuable (not dollar figure wise but in terms of what they can leverage). For ppl who viewed the world as globalized prior to everyone else recognizing globalization, they were invaluable. Belize sold cheaper than Dominica but this might be offset by inflation and economic reality.
