U-17s one win away from World Cup slot.
T&T Guardian Reports.

T&T’s Under-17 footballers are one victory away from qualifying for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup and will be hoping to achieve just that when they face off with hosts Panama in the quarterfinal of the Concacaf Final Round at the Estadio Agustín Muquita Sánchez in La Chorrera, Panama, on Saturday at 6 pm.

T&T finished second in Group B after Canada held Costa Rica 1-1 in Wednesday’s closing group contest which meant that Canada topped the group with four points, one more than T&T. Panama defeated Barbados 2-0 in the second match on Wednesday to book a spot in the “quarters” against T&T.

T&T, captained by midfielder Brendon Creed, will be up against it on Saturday as the Panama home fans have filled the Sanchez Stadium for all of Panama’s games and the team itself has proven to be a formidable opponent but the ‘junior Soca Warriors’ will still fancy their chances of securing a favourable result to push them through to the Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in October.

T&T outplayed Canada in its opening game but ended up 0-2 losers before reversing the scoreline against Costa Rica through goals by midfielders Andre Fortune and Brent Sam, who received seven stitches after receiving a blow to the mouth against the Costa Ricans. He is, however, fit to take the pitch on Saturday.

I saw clips of Dely Valdes working with our opponents. Will link them when I touch base. Nothing of exceptional note, but each of the youths was real humble in interviews.

'Game of our lives'
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 footballers will try to repeat the feat accomplished by ex-national captain Leston Paul and his teammates in 2007 when they face off with Panama from 8pm on Saturday knowing that a win will see them qualify for the 2013 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

In 2007, with current Technical Director Anton Corneal at the helm, T&T defeated Jamaica 1-0 on a first half winner by Kevin Molino at the National Stadium in Kingston to advance to the Under 17 World Cup in South Korea.

From 6pm on Saturday, current head coach Shawn Cooper will attempt to lead his team to a significant win once again against the host nation at the Estadio Agustín Muquita Sánchez in La Chorrera.

T&T were not permitted use of a training facility for a requested time of 8am on Friday which meant that a late evening session was scheduled in what has been relatively dry conditions since the tournament kicked off last Saturday.

But Creed and his teammates remained focused on the task ahead and do not intend to let any distractions get in their way.

“We are going to the game in a positive frame of mind. We have faith in God and faith in our ability and right now we are just focusing on the task at hand,” Creed told TTFF Media on Friday at the Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort where Panama, Canada and Jamaica are also based.

The games today are 6pm and 9pm..both live on FSC

I dont know what going on with Fuentes , he keep saying 8pm.. the reason for the 9pm is if the 6pm game goes to extra time and penalties

The game will either be 6pm..or 9pm

Battle in La Chorrera..I spent 2yrs in Panama I played plenty football in Panama back in de 80's ..plenty Brazilian and Jamaicans over there..that weather is very humid and would you believe  that I got dehydrated once ..I didn't know I was dehydrated..I never thought I of all people could become dehydrated because I am a Trini and Trinis don't get dehydrated..I checked into the Army Hospital on my way back to the barracks because I wasn't feeling it.
The people just come.. looked at me then left the room and came back with i.v equipment and administered fluids.
I left the hospital feeling like superman..the moral of the story is hydration..coconut water.. the next best thing to i.v. fluid infusion
Carry the boys Panama City stop by a coconut vendor and let dem drink some coconut water and eat some jelly. They 'll play football like supermen after dat.

It is scheduled for 3 pacific time on FSC, so that should be 6 Eastern time. Jamaica plays Canada @ 6 pacific, which again means it will be 9 Eastern.
