What has happened to Lalonde Gordon this year ?
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:46:01 AM »
Coming back from running 44.5 at the Olympics, Gordon has only managed to run 45.67 and did not even place top 3 at T&T trials.....is he on target to become a one hit wonder ?  Gordon has not run under 45 seconds since the Olympic Games...

Gordon didn't run the 400m, just the 200m.
I suspect he had a late start this year or some injury setback, and that he is now getting back into shape.
Someone noted that he peaked late in the season last year, so it is good that he has PR'ed in the 200m which will help his 400m if he is on course.

You need to get your facts correct. Lalonde Gordon did run the 400m as well as the 200m. He came 4th in the 400m final.

Lalonde didn't have a late start either. Back in late January or early February, he set the 8th fastest time ever for an indoor 300m. However every race he ran since then only looked worse IMO.
In the WC squad announced, he is down for only the 200m, but he is running a 400m at the London DL this weekend. Strange....

HA no facts in this statement at all..he did run the 400...plus Lalonde been running nonstop...he has been running since January during the indoor season he probably has run more 400's than lendore solomon and quow this season

I think the fella will turn it around and come on down the stretch to WCs.
He did run less indoor meets it seems than last year when he ran a lot of 200m and 400m, so that is what I meant by "late start".
That may have been by design as at the end of last season he mentioned he was on fumes for the 4x400m.
He still has to run the 4x400m so it makes sense for him to run the DL 400m on his stature as OLY bronze medallist.
He may not have gotten a lane for a 200m race in that level meet based on his "come-lately" PR.
I suspect he will have to run a couple of 200m in "small meets" before the WCs.

Know your facts...lol...Lalonde said at trials he only wants to run the 400...saying that running the 200/400 plus the relay would be too much for him...but he was chosen for the 200 because he has not gotten the A OR B standard in the 400 as yet....so he is running the 400 this week in hopes of getting the standard..and if he gets it will probably just run the 400 alone.

Continuing this conversation, Lalonde obviously did not get the A standard to run the individual 400m at World Champs this year so this proves that he was the slowest of our top 400m runners this season.

Let’s hope next year he can come back to his Olympics form of 2012 in the 400m.
De higher a monkey climbs is de less his ass is on de line, if he works for FIFA that is! ;-)
