As far as I was aware, the opening fixture, the charity shield, was re scheduled for 23rd August around 4 weeks ago, with the first Pro League game to be played on the 30th.

I believe there have been problems caused by Manny Ramjohn being unable for use and apparently Hasely Crawford has now been taking out of use for football during January and February because it will be used for fetes (only in T&T could the national sports stadium be unavailable for sport for two months!)

Therefore, as I understand it, there has been a fixture reshuffle. The delay in starting the season is also due to an application for entry by Point Fortin. After having to go through the hoops last season, I can see why there is a delay while Point Fortin satisfy the criteria. The Pro League are keen to have an 8 team league so feel that a delay is warranted to achieve this while ensuring that the entry criteria is met and that Point Fortin's players are protected but receiving guarantees that the club will last the season.

It is frustrating for everyone.

Well, yes. Last year it was because Central F.C. joined the league. I guess the league could put a cut off date for applications, and maybe if 8 teams could retain their membership they will do that. But I guess they feel it's better to delay by two weeks and offer 2 x 2 double headers each week.

So if its 8 teams then we should have a total of 14 games then ?

No team should play each other more than twice.

Home and away fixtures ONLY !!!!

No one wants to go see Central FC vs T&TEC FC 4 times in a league season.

And seeing that we do not have an effective promotion/relegation system in place......

I think they should push for more teams in the league, eliminate the Super League and bring all the Clubs up to Pro Level.

Then at the end of the Zonal leagues games bring back the North, South and Tobago classics.

Just my take, but I am sure the League have all the answers, I'm just a regular guy.

some years ago there was a suggestion for promotion and demotion with the super league but de Pro League didn't want that.

Sorry for the hoax but this thread will be edited as soon as we get the fixtures, so keep checking back.

Anyways...

Imagine the Pro League SUPPOSE to start this week, no schedule yet. ? or is it in September, less than a month away ?

Why would sponsors invest in a League where they cannot even find out where & when games are playing?

How can fans plan to come to the games, when their are no fixtures?

What is Professional about the Pro League?

That's the problem with T&T, everybody knows everything and nobody knows anything.

No one on the same page.

Is every man Jack for themselves.

Flex, I am with you on this. The pro league is utterly disappointing. An 8 team league should have its fixture all ready to go and finish on time.  Then they have the pro bowl cup and the Toyota cup. You just seeing them same teams over and over. No excitement in front the empty stadiums. Bring in the super league teams in those competition. Also they should really re-elevate the FA trophy back to its rightly status as the premier knockout tournament in the land. Why can't they web stream the games like how they show the game in Guaya the other day. We in foreign want to see the games. At least some.

I think playing each other 3 times in the League is OK. Look at the SPL, they play 4 times!  I get a bit bored with the cups because it's just the same old, same old. You could play a team 8 times a season!

I would love to see more clubs and my ideal number is 12 (and I'd still play three times each).

The big fear with the League is letting in new teams and then they go bankrupt halfway through the season similar to Tobago and Southend. This is a nightmare because you see players going unpaid. It could even be possible for a player to sue the Pro League because they run the league and are responsible for allowing the team to join. This is why it takes so long to join the league. They want a bond in place and proof that salaries can be paid.

I doubt that many Super League clubs can meet that criteria, so therefore automatic promotion is not feasible.

I find that even over the last two years, the Super League has improved (a lot of that is due to Tony Harford's input). Teams are more organised now and there are some decent players in there.

I do think that as the Super League continues, the clubs will get financially stronger and we'll see more teams joining the Pro League.

The F.A. trophy is the responsibility of TTFA. THEY need to pay it respect before anyone else can!! But I feel Sheldon Phillips will want to see things improved there.

But September 6th is a FIFA International date.

Hey Spleen, you ever heard of a press conference? Do you know the advantages to holding a press conference? It reveals the professionalism, consideration, and respect one has for the few remaining paying fans of this fake ass pro league you are the commissioner of, and sadly so. Here are some clues.

A press conference is a staged public relations event in which an organization or individual presents information to members of the mass media and the public.

Promotional press conferences offer several advantages, such as the ability to reach all media outlets at the same time while  controlling the message. A press conference also can build excitement or anticipation about an event.

Reasons to hold a press conference include:
Introducing a new product. Announcing a charity event with a featured celebrity. Acquiring a new player on a sports team.

Public relations professionals use press conferences to make important announcements to gain coverage in newspapers, magazines, blogs and on TV news broadcasts.

Press conferences are typically used for promotional purposes, such as the launch of a new product.

You should try this sometime before the new season starts. Preferably, way before the last minute. Very informative and useful, a press conference.
I am the punishment of God...If you had not comitted great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.

What a shame, and I will be in T&T for Independence Day and no football to look forward to and we don't know where. At least 20 of us would have gone.

They cannot plan fixtures for 8 teams. Imagine if Dexter Skeene was working with the EPL.

The Super League has 13 teams and fixture release so long.

Poor planning killing crowd support and interest.

And the bad thing is, no one seems to care.

Again, Sando, how can you release fixtures for 8 teams when one of them may not be accepted? I'm certain that there have already been several versions prepared. The first one was probably useless because Manny Ramjohn won't be available (when it was due online before the season started.) The second was then useless because Hasely Crawford is not available for two months due to carnival.

I understand peoples frustrations, but if Skeene held a flashy press conference and announced the fixtures and then kept changing them, you would all criticise. Thats why they've been working with a tentative start date.

I know it's not perfect, but I feel I have to offer some defence.

FS, if the team cannot meet any criteria within a certain time frame then they should not be considered, simple as that. We are a professional league and have to act like it.

So the Manny and Hasley Crawford stadiums are down and the enter league is at ransom.

When will be learn.

I assume T&TEC is out.

I hope Point Fortin CC can show money for at least two years survival.

But Sando, what is your solution? I have criticised the league in the past, but now I'm understanding the problems they face. Sarcasm doesn't solve the problem.

As I mentioned, they really want 8 teams in the League. In their view (and I agree) it's better to delay for a month and be able to play two x double headers than push ahead and have one double header, one game on another day and a team with a bye. That breaks your rhythm.

Regarding the stadiums, they can proceed with a double header at Ato and one at Larry. But what about St Anns and Cali? Their fans will always be "away from home"  Point Fortin apparently want to play down there, but first the venue must be approved. If it's not, then they can't play at Manny, so their fans would need to travel to Ato.

Then what happens when Central, W.Conn and Point are playing at home? All three can't play at Ato.

We have a situation where DF, Police, Cali, St Anns all may have to use Larry as their home stadium. But that will also be North Easts home venue.

No one will be happy, but somehow, the League has to make that work.

With the lack of funding in football, it's difficult to help the league expand. It's a lot easier to just go back to semi pro and expand the Super League, but if that happens, our National Team will move backwards as players will come out of the game, youngsters will look elsewhere and any decent player will play in far flung leagues and won't return for national duty.

Teams still have home games and no one comes to the games then what is the purpose of home games, to get 30 fans following you.

Point Fortin came late to the table. So what happened all of the other times, its every year they are late with the fixtures.

Didn't the league know they were down to 7 teams this season and had ample time to fix this. Everyone knew T&TEC would not be here.

The games should get on the way at Ato and Larry, and later on they could play games when the other stadiums are done.

Anyways, not my problem.

They act unprofessional and they will get the same treatment in return, no one will take them serious, no one will go to games and no sponsors will come onboard.

Ok...I just got my question answered via another thread.  T&TEC will not be participating in this year's Pro League.

Central beat Defence Force 3-1

Central FC starting line-up: Williams, John, Benjamin, Goodridge, Jack, Marcano (ccapt), Oliver, Winchester, Mitchell, Peltier, Quintero.

Rundell Winchester scored a bicycle....
