Top 10 Concacaf xfer fees
« on: September 07, 2013, 06:57:42 PM »
In light of Madrid's wealth (and apparent stupidity ;D) was wondering closer to home what the top 10 list looks like.  Can't seem to find a link that shows this.  I figure Chicharito, Yorke (12.6M), Dempsey and others must be up there.  Tallman you know what this list looks like?

1. €19.25m: Dwight Yorke (T&T) - Aston Villa to Manchester United
2. €15m: Nery Castillo (Mexico) - Olympiakos to Shakhtar Donetsk
3. €15m: Wilson Palacios (Honduras) - Wigan to Tottenham
4. €13m: David Suazo (Honduras) - Cagliari Calcio to Inter Milan
5. €10m: Jozy Altidore (USA) - AZ Alkmaar to Sunderland
6. €9.7m: Kenwyne Jones (T&T) - Sunderland to Stoke City
7. €9m: Kenwyne Jones (T&T) - Southampton to Sunderland
8. €9m: Wilson Palacios (Honduras) - Tottenham to Stoke City
9. €8m: Hιctor Herrera (Mexico) - Pachuca to FC Porto
10. €8m: Bryan Ruiz (Costa Rica) - FC Twente to Fulham

Data from transfermarkt.com

Now, I eh sure exactly how they come up with they numbers because it doh always mesh with what we see in de press. For example, it was widely reported dat de transfer fee for Dwight from Villa to ManU was £12.6m, but transfermarkt.com has it listed as £16.94m

Also, I eh know if yuh only wanted players who were born in de CONCACAF region, because Carl Cort who plays for Guyana but was born in England, transferred from MK Dons to Newcastle for €10.5m.

It all depends on the era you speaking about. Every era, there is the issue of inflation. A "not so great player" in this era will fetch more than a player of the past era.

Euro is less than pounds, hence the reason. I think it fluctuates too, so, sometimes it might show higher or lesser to the actual figure.
