The Central zone break some records?

20-0 and 14-0...

I remember Presentation College Sando defeated Claxton Bay 13-0 back in 1987.  I was at that game on a Saturday in Claxton Bay.  Pres already leading by 10 goals slowed the pace down dramatically (though scoring 3 more), but didn't want to 'push-it' for fear of taking unfair advantage of the situation. 

Not trying to insult Carapichiama or anything, but the Pres game back in 1987, Pres respected the losing team, and showed class in that win.

In 1982 Fatima A Giants beat St. Anthony's 28-0. Pretty sure Lara was on that team.
The B squad beat them 14-0.

This happens ever so often in the SSFL. Remebered in 67, ASJA was the whipping boys of the CFL. 22 zip from QRC. I still think that is a Div 1 college record. Correct me on that. Dominic Savio from Belmont was a fighting Div2 team. You could not take them for granted. In my times St. Anthony was so-so.They started improving around 72/73. They had decent gk by the name of Hobson-Garcia in my times. St. Joseph college was a very good team in 72. Almost made it to Div1.

Gustine girls thrash El Do East to stay unbeaten.

St Augustine Secondary’s girls put eight unanswered goals past El Dorado East Secondary on Sunday to remain unbeaten in the BG T&T/First Citizens Girls Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) East Zone competition.

In other results in the East, San Juan North Secondary defeated St George’s 4-0, while Toco beat Arima North 6-1.

In Tobago, Scarborough stayed in the lead with a 1-0 win over Speyside Secondary, and Mason Hall Secondary were whipped 3-0 by Roxborough Secondary.

St Joseph Convent Port of Spain also enjoyed a good day in the North, whipping Providence 4-0, while Bishop’s Anstey High School and St Francois Girls College both secured victories in that zone as well.

Siparia East Secondary ran away with a good result in the South Zone, holding defending champions Debe Secondary to a 1-1 draw, while Fyzabad Secondary edged Mayaro Secondary 3-2 to snare all three points.

Express, at some point it would probably help to put the various programs in context and compare/and investigate how they stack up in terms of resources. It probably doesn't merely start on the field. Who knows? Yuh readership might end up with an interesting article.

I don't know but I'm just guessing here, but I think it might be St. Benedict's.  From what I hear, they had all those great dominant winning teams in the 1960s and 1970s before my time.

Naps. Signal Hill, and Eldo may be up there in titles won also.  And to me, de most lethal goal-scorer was Colin Osborne for Presentation Sando...and no, I solemnly swear ah not being biased...lol.

Believe it or not Naps have the most InterCol titles..I am not a Naparima supporter but Jan Steadman was partly responsible for that...Jan ...a St Benedict's standout big up Naps in the 80's and 90's. Naps won about three titles in the 70's alone. They won a few in the nineties and a few in the 21st century.
Jan also coached an undefeated season with Naps.
Benedict's has the most zonal titles..in the nineties alone they won seven.

‘Gustine’ drop points

St Augustine Secondary dropped their first points of their first points of the 2013 season yesterday in a 0-0 draw away to El Dorado West Secondary, while Trinity College continued their good start, beating San Juan North Secondary 3-1 at San Juan to close the gap on St Augustine to four points.

Trinity overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with three second half goals to head back to Trincity with three points.

Yesterday, Bourg Mulatresse was not a happy hunting ground for San Juan.

Home advantage should have counted for more than it did, especially after they took the lead in the 11th minute through Kaylon Alexander, who stabbed home a loose ball in a crowded penalty area to set the small home crowd cheering. But that was where their joy ended.

San Juan were guilty of wasting chances. They dominated the first half, but almost wilfully they missed the target in the face of suspect goalkeeping by the diminutive Myron Mark, noticeable more for his unsure grip than his bright red shirt.

But things changed in the second half. Trinity’s urgent hustle paid off in just three minutes, as San Juan surrendered the ball in their half, and although Tarik John stumbled at the top of the box, his pass to Jelani John allowing the latter to bury a low shot past goalkeeper Ojari Allen.

San Juan missed some more, with Brent Sam, substitute Shawn Johnson and Joshua Leach missing some whoppers.

Their other problem was allowing Trinity room to control midfield, and it hurt them again, this time Trinity going ahead in the 69th when Tarik weaved his way through a crowd of players, none of whom could issue a clearing tackle, made room on his left foot from 12 metres and sent Allen the wrong way.

To add insult to injury, San Juan skipper Josiah Trimmingham earned himself a second yellow card and ejection by tackling Dharon Sutherland in frustration. The visitors took advantage of the extra man, making sure there would be no comeback from their hosts when Jelani nodded home a 76th minute corner by his skipper Akeel Modeste for a 3-1 advantage.

Only St Anthony’s College—with a narrow 3-2 victory over QRC—Presentation College San Fernando, who whipped Shiva Boys 3-1 in Penal, and Carapichaima East Secondary have won all their first round matches so far.

“Caps” beat Presentation College Chaguanas 5-1 at Carapichaima yesterday.

PRESENTATION San Fernando regained the top spot in the South Zone of the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Championship Division yesterday.

In a top-of-the-table showdown at Penal, the 2012 zonal champs strolled to a 3-1 win over hosts Shiva Boys. Presentation San Fernando have a total of 13 points, two more than Shiva Boys.

In a meeting of the table-proppers, Princes Town moved off the bottom of the South standings, at the expense of Pleasantville, following a 3-0 whipping at Princes Town.

The Mayaro-St Benedict’s game was postponed, to a date to be announced, due to the late arrival of the game officials at Mayaro.

St Augustine saw their five-game win streak halted as they were held to a goalless draw away to El Dorado West, in the East Zone. Second- placed Trinity East narrowed the gap between themselves and St Augustine to four points after whipping hosts San Juan 3-1.

After Keylon Alexander opened the scoring for San Juan after 11 minutes, Jelani John netted a pair for Trinity East (49th and 75th minutes) and Tyrik John (69th) got the other goal for the visitors.

And reigning champs Arima cruised past El Dorado East 2-0 at the Arima Municipal Stadium, courtesy of an own goal from Daniel Sandy (fourth) and a strike from Shiloh Johnson (58th).

Carapichaima and Chaguanas continue to set the pace in the Central Zone, as the league leaders and reigning champs Carapichaima blanked their guests Presentation Chaguanas 6-1 and Chaguanas crushed the visiting Tabaquite 5-0.

Vishnu Boys collected their first points of the season, after trouncing last-placed Couva 5-2 at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

St Anthony’s extended their lead over St Mary’s to three points in the North Zone. The 2012 zonal winners earned a hard-fought 3-2 triumph away to QRC.

Mucurapo stayed in third place following a 1-0 win over neighbours Fatima at the Fatima Ground while Diego Martin got their first victory of the season, by a similar 1-0 scoreline, over the bottom-placed Malick at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

In the Tobago Zone, leaders Speyside and Mason Hall recorded 4-1 victories over their respective guests Roxborough and Signal Hill.

Scarborough, the defending champs, got strikes from Shaquille Vincent (21st) and Lashawn Roberts (83rd) to defeat Pentecostal Light and Life at Shaw Park.

And the Bishop’s-Goodwood meeting, which was originally slated for yesterday, will now take place today, from 3.45 pm, at the Mt Pleasant Ground.
