All the CPL games were sold out in all of the countries games were played.

De atmosphere was excellent.

They promote it very well.

They run ads, had ladies, carnival feeling parties, etc. We cant do this in every game, but at least de last game for de season, nah.

They organize it very well.

Yes more people like cricket in T&T, but, we need more promoters in our football.

And now they have CPL All Star game, something I longing to see T&T league do, this MLS does this and they sell out.

They need to sell our football better.

Simmons, Emrit in CPL All Star squad

A Limacol Caribbean Premier League All Star squad has been selected following the staging of the inaugural LCPL, organisers announced yesterday.

The side, which includes six players from the finalists, the Jamaica Tallawahs and the Guyana Amazon Warriors, was chosen on the basis of it being balanced and capable of playing a match, said a release.

The team, captained by Tallawahs opening batsman and skipper Chris Gayle, involves a playing eleven plus a twelfth man, and was released in batting order.

“Selections were made from performances in the tournament only; past records and reputations were not taken into consideration,” the statement said.

“The captain was only selected once the side had been chosen.”

The members of the LCPL All Star squad are Andre Fletcher (St. Lucia Zouks),  Chris Gayle (Jamaica Tallawahs, captain),  Lendl Simmons (Guyana Amazon Warriors), Shoaib Malik (Barbados Tridents),  James Franklin (Guyana Amazon Warriors),  Andre Russell (Jamaica Tallawahs),  Marlon Samuels (Antigua Hawksbills),  Shakib Al Hasan (Barbados Tridents),  Rayad Emrit (Barbados Tridents),   Krishmar Santokie (Guyana Amazon Warriors), Muttiah Muralitharan (Jamaica Tallawahs) and 12th man Ashley Nurse (Barbados Tridents).

“It was agreed that a minimum number of four matches had to be played by an individual in the tournament in order to be eligible for a place in the side,” said the LCPL statement.

“The side was selected by a group of individuals brought together by the Limacol CPL for their knowledge and understanding of the game and their in-depth knowledge of player performances during the tournament.”

The selection panel was made up of Mike Procter, a former South Africa allrounder and a match referee in the tournament, ex-West Indies and Jamaica wicketkeeper/batsman Jeffrey Dujon, former South Australia batsman Mike Haysman, and Craig Cozier, a journalist with extensive regional and international experience.

Billy Bowden, Nigel Duguid, Joel Wilson and Danesh Ramdhanie--all umpires who officiated in Limacol CPL--were also part of the panel.

The Limacol Caribbean Premier League took place between July 30 and August 24, and involved six franchises from across the region.

The Jamaica Tallawahs beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors by seven wickets in the final, played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

Sam. it eh go wuk. The CPL is based on quasi national/island teams. How they go run the local football like that. Unless they run the CFU nations cup in that manner, then I would kind of agree with you. I think it can be done but maybe on a smaller scale. There was a Caribbean football league before, but they did not have the heavy hitting money men like the CPL has now.

I believe the CPL had something like 3 times the funding of the entire ProLeague. Of course, money helps ...but you still need to know how to spend it to maximum effect!

CPL funding is more than 3 times. The individual sponsers alone probably put more than what the pro league gets a season. Plus its a regional tournament tottaly different. Also with top players.

I know of a local sponsor who paid out TT$750k as a sponsor of CPL here in Trinidad. When you see the posters with the dozen or so main sponsors logos like Scotiabank etc, that sponsors name wasn't even there!

CPL had star power and T20 is the number one team sport in the world right now based on income generation per game.
