Reggae Boyz vs Soca Warriors
By Paul Clarke (Jamaica Gleaner)

Jamaica Football Fede-ration (JFF) president, Captain Horace Burrell, yesterday announced that the Reggae Boyz will play two international friendly games on the two upcoming FIFA dates.

The national senior team will take on the Soca Warriors of Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago in a two-match series. Jamaica will host the Trinidadians on Friday, November 15 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex beginning at 8 p.m. The squad will then depart the island for Trinidad for the return game on November 19.

Captain Burrell indicated that the Federation was seeking to keep a national senior team active as the country begins its campaign for the 2018 World Cup.

A grateful Montego Bay mayor, Glendon Harris, affirmed the city's willingness to host the match and urged its citizens to support the game.

"I am calling on the fans as well as corporate entities in the city of Montego Bay to support the game by purchasing tickets," said the mayor, stressing that football brings great benefits to the city.

Local-based players

Meanwhile, national senior men's coach, Winfried Schäfer, said that it was his intention to work with a cadre of local-based players in order to develop them into a core group which will be capable of holding their own on the international stage.

Coach Schäfer stressed that the country and the national football programme will be strengthened when local-based players can go overseas on professional contracts and then come back to represent the country.

Ticket prices for the game at the Montego Bay Sports Complex: VIP $1,500, grandstand $1,000 and bleachers, $500.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

The TTFA should invite Gally and the Strike Squad for the match on the 19th.

Jamaica Government might be tinkering on bankruptcy, that doesnt mean that the average man is so destitute he cant find $1000 (US $10) to go see a football match....40,000 people will easily pay that if the team is playing good football.

nothing but a good practice game for both teams, another opportunity to take a look at some local players, as far as I concerned...Doh need to win as much as need to make proper use of  this preparation and future selection opportunity. For when we really go to war...No sense in beating up the sparring partner and then getting knockout on the 1st punch in the major event. How ah type, vb ?

T&T and Jamaica square off in home and away series
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).

Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Team will close off their 2013 calendar with a home and away friendly international series against Caribbean rivals Jamaica on November 15th in Montego Bay and Port of Spain on November 19th.

This was confirmed on Saturday following initial discussions between the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and the Jamaica Football Federation last month.  The T&T team, under head coach Stephen Hart, will travel to Montego Bay on November 12th for the first match at the Catherine Hall Complex before returning for the second match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on November 19th at a kick off time to be determined.

Hart described the two matches which falls on FIFA dates, as another valuable pair of outings for  T&T  which is gearing towards the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign while JFF President Captain Horace Burrell also stated in Kingston on Saturday that the games would be viewed as the launch of Jamaica’s 2018 World Cup journey.

“It’s always a match with a lot to look forward to and a competitive one of that when these two countries meet,” Hart told TTFA Media.

“There is a lot of history and rivalry between us and I expect it to be no different later this month. We are continuing to work towards finding the right balance, the right combination of players and the right mindset and approach as it relates to our preparations for future competitions with the 2018 qualification being the main objective and we will treat these two matches in the same manner,” Hart added.

T&T’s last win over the “Reggae Boyz” was in 2001, a 2-1 win in the Caribbean Cup at the Hasely Crawford Stadium while the Jamaicans won the last two previous meetings, 1-0 in Kingston 2010 and 3-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium that same year.

The T&T squad for the two games will be announced later this week and the TTFA will also reveal further information about the return match over the next couple of days. The TTFA is being supported by the Ministry of Sport and the Sportt Company for this two-match series.

Trinidad and Tobago's Senior Men's Team will continue their slate of international matches for the year when they face Jamaica in two friendly internationals in a home and away series this month. T&T will travel to Montego Bay to face the "Reggae Boyz" at the Catherine Hall Stadium on November 15th and then return to Port of Spain for the second match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on November 19th.

T&T Head Coach Stephen Hart will announce his final squad for the match in due course and further details on the November 19th encounter will be disclosed over the next few days by the TTFA.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

I see the Jamaican coach plans to use mainly local players. We should give most of our players from the pro league who have been training iwith the National  team a Bligh . It makes no sense to spend money on bringing foreign players here while coaches are still to be paid!

Thanks.

Jamaica's annual minimum wage is higher than that of places like India, Mexico, Cuba, Honduras etc.

"...The National Minimum Wage was last increased in September 2012, moving from $4,500 to $5,000 per forty-hour work week. The minimum rates for security guards also increased from $6,655 to $7,320.50 per 40-hour work week..."

Security guards take home a minimum roughly US$73 per week, day-workers, household helpers etc around US$50 per week.

It's a shame the WB haven't released PPP figures for Jamaica since 2005 - they'd give you a better indication of living standards v income. As an example, the WB ranksTrinidad and Tobago 40th by GDP per capita, but 36th by Purchasing Power Parity as living in Trini is cheaper to live in than some other countries (you overtake Portugal and Greece for a start)

Jan Michael and Winny. But not sure if we can spare them for both games. 19th is not a FIFA date.
Problem is, for some unknown reason, the F.A. Trophy is scheduled at the same time. Next 6 weeks are crazy if you have a good cup run:
8th/9th    Toyota Classic
13th        F.A. Trophy
14th        Jamaica (A)
16th/17th Toyota Classic
19th        Jamaica (H)
20th        F.A. Trophy
22nd       Toyota Classic
27th        F.A. Trophy
29th        Toyota Classic
4th          F.A. Trophy
6th/7th    ProLeague
11th        F.A. Trophy semi
13th        F.A. Trophy  final
