Letter to the Trinidad Express
These observations are directed at Leo Beenhakker, the national football coach. I was very pleased with the way the "Warriors'' played against Mexico, especially the first-half.
For the first time in a long time, I saw world class football from our players. This is the standard they have to maintain if they want to be ranked among the best in the world.
However, I want to point out a few things I have noticed. I am not seeing any long range shots to goal, like what the Dutch are famous for. Only Birchall tried it once or twice. Our free kicks are without imagination. Mostly wasted. We need to make them count.
Why is it only Latapy taking the corners? Groom others to have choice and variety.
Also, too many backpasses, our players should strive to keep the play in the opposition's half of the field. Finally, goalkeeper Jack seems reluctant to hold the ball. Instead he runs out and blasts it anywhere. He has made a few mistakes already with his indecisiveness.
All the best to you and the team for the next two matches.
Remember we have to win big at home to safeguard ourselves for the away match.
