CFU Men's Under 20 Teams Prepare For Battle

Twenty-one teams from across the Caribbean are ready to contest the biennial Caribbean Football Union (CFU) 2014 Men’s Under-20 tournament scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 25 in five countries.

The competition will be divided into five groups (1, 2, 3, 4 & 5) and is slated to run from June 25 to August 4. The games will be hosted by Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Aruba and Curacao.

The final round is set for September 10 -19 in Trinidad and Tobago, where the host will be joined by Jamaica as the other prequalified team. The complete this exciting round of eight will be the five top teams from each group and the best overall second placed team to contest the 2014 championship.

This tournament is the official qualifier in the Caribbean Zone for both the CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Championship and the 2015 FIFA Men’s U-20 World Cup.

If you're serious about that I could help somewhat - would need players in teh database for Football Manager 2015 anyway. Will be updating it in July :) - have roughly 105 players under the age of 20 (cutoff date last July, so a couple over-age by now), from 16 years old (Levi Garcia).

Players in that list (again bear in mind some will be over age as I've not updated)

Winchester, Rundell
Jones, Alvin
Russell Jr. (over-age by now I'm sure)
Quintero
Gordon, Jem/Gem
Benjamin, Neil
Roopchandsingh (overage)
Henry, Shackiel
Pope, Dwight (Overage)
Muckette, Duane
Bethelmy, Keron (Overage)
Malchan, Keston (O/a)
Morgan, Christopher
Richards, Damani
Francis, Jomoul
Neptune, Jameel
Boatswain, Jamille?
Bertrand, Shaquille (O/a)
Dodds, Kevin
Noel, Julio
Joseph, Steven
Thomas, John (Goalkeeper at college in the states?)
Gomez, Marcus
Hackshaw, Neveal
Lewis, Terrence

Anyway that's those roughly at the top of the list, most have league experience in TT Pro or Super League

At least play a few pro league teams then, do something nah, nobody saying we have to play Brazil.

De MOS saw he go help out?

Lord Fadda put ah hand.

Now when they make allyuh happy, all of a sudden allyuh promoting de team.

We local coaches need to take a page out of Waldrum book.

U-20 Championship draw Thursday in Montego Bay
Concacaf.com

MIAMI – CONCACAF confirmed Tuesday the programming for the official draw for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship Jamaica 2015.  The draw will take place on Thursday, October 30, at 1:30 PM ET, and will be streamed live via CONCACAF.com.

CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb, alongside special invited guest the Honourable Damion Crawford, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment, will open the draw, which will set the groups for the Championship to be played in Kingston and Montego Bay in January.

Veterans of the 1998 Jamaican World Cup participating Reggae Boyz are also scheduled to be in attendance to help in the execution of the event.

The draw will be held at the Hilton Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica, sorting the 12 participants into two groups of six teams each.

Five pots will be utilized: three (1, 2 and 3) for the teams and two (A and B) for group position.  As host, Jamaica will be seeded in position A1 and drawn from Pot 1 alongside fellow Caribbean entrants Aruba, Cuba, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago.  Pots 2 and 3 will be comprised of Central American representatives and North American entrants, respectively.

The pots for the draw will therefore be designated as follows:

Pot 1 (Caribbean): Jamaica; Aruba; Cuba; Haiti; Trinidad and Tobago

Pot 2 (Central America): El Salvador; Guatemala; Honduras; Panama

Pot 3 (North America): Canada; Mexico; United States

Pot A (Seeding for Group A): Six balls with a group positions, 1-6

Pot B (Seeding for Group B): Six balls with a group positions, 1-6

Following the drawing of Jamaica into Group A as the seeded team, the remaining teams will be drawn one by one from Pot 1.  The second team drawn goes to Group B, in a position determined by the place drawn from Pot B. The third team drawn then goes to Group A, with its position drawn from Pot A – the positioning pot for that group.

The teams drawn continue to be placed in alternate groups, until the Caribbean region Pot 1 is empty. The procedure will then be repeated for regional pots 2 and 3, continuing to alternate placement of the nation drawn into Groups A and B by turn, until the balls are exhausted and groups are full.

The CONCACAF Under-20 Championship Jamaica 2015 is scheduled to be played January 9-24, 2015, in Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica.  The tournament will qualify four teams directly to the FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015.

Ah hear de U20 team had training Monday and W Connection, Central, North East / Naps (Angus Eve) did not allow their players to attend training.

The teams told the Derek King they could come training, but told the players if they come they not dressing for the next game.

Is real selfish madness down in T&T.

Goddard attended training and Central did not dress him for the next game.

Allyuh think it easy with the Pro league teams down here and some individuals who trying to kill T&T football?

National Team don't mean nothing to them nah.

When ah was in T&T last month, ah met up with a few players from NE Stars, they fraid to talk, but they get warn about playing for T&T.

Sancho want to run a minister of sports, but Central surprise meh.

Eve and Shabazz still f00cking bitter they got fired because they did not perform for T&T.

Shabaaz went and but players from all over de Caribbean so he eh have to cooperate with T&T national team.

W Connection surprise meh cause I know they will not stop they players cause they looking forthem to get international exposure so they could sell them.

Angus Eve is a big pussy.

Local people have a lot to learn, no wonder they ont get respect.

Imagine if Marlon Charles was still coaching de women team, they woulda been crying all now.

Sam, thanks for the inside scoop. Hope iz not as bad as you make it sound but I eh doubtin' yuh even if there is an element of comedy.

Sometimes I wonder if we should try to address the various and multiple wounds affecting all these stakeholders and coaches. Comfort them and repair some of their hurt, diminish their fears and try to make them believe that there is some win-win factor for everybody so we could all pull as one. Remember Jackula gorn and the still-lingering abuse factor has to be managed. Pay people dey money that is owed often as coach. If yuh have food on de table iz hard to be angry.

Eve, I believe, is a good fellah man, who played his heart and soul for T&T for donkeys years. He might be hurting and hungry to eat a proper food as this proleague business is real financial presshah for those who got involved. Uncle Tim and Sheldon, take note please. Horner, yuh dey? Anything to contribute? When last yuh lash some drinks wit' de boys?

I think we have to be fair to Central & Connection here, why would the National U20 coach call a training session on the Monday before these two teams have a game, why couldn't he have called the session for the Wednesday after the game, where he would have had a full complement as the next match would have been Friday (FCB Final). I don't see Central or NES having a problem with this as they would have at least gotten an opportunity to train with their team on Thursday before the final. Do you think it would be fair to the other members of the team who trained right through to have the U20's selected before them, having missed one of the most important sessions which is the one the day before the game.
Now tell me why would the Coach want to squeeze in 4 sessions in 2 weeks when there is an International window from the 5th to the 19th of November (where there will be no Pro League games) where he could have at least 15 sessions & 2 training games with his full complement of players & more. Well the answer is simple the Head Coach & Assistant coaches of the U20 team are Assistant Coaches of the Senior Team & will therefore have to be in Jamaica during that period. Now is that proper planning?. So what we should be concerned about is that the team will be idle for 2 weeks whilst the coaches are in Jamaica & stop bashing the Pro League coaches.
My information is that during the pre season W Connection were allowing their U20 players to train 3 times weekly with the National team.

T&T Under 20 team to face host Reggae Boys in CONCACAF opener.
By Inshan Mohammed.

King pleads for support but remains up-beat.

Trinidad and Tobago National Under 20 men's team has been grouped with; USA, Jamaica, Panama, Guatemala and Aruba for the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championships which will be held in Jamaica from January 9-24, 2015.

The newely crowned 2014 Caribbean Football Champions will open against host Jamaica at the National Stadium in Kingston on January 9th. Then Aruba (11th), Guatemala (14th), Panama (18th) and close off against the mighty USA on the 21st.

Head coach Derek King told SWO: "The group is a pretty tough group, but we can't really complain as both groups seems to be pretty balance."

"Jamaica at home is always a competitive team, USA and Panama has proved they are solid performers at this level. Panama especially, has improved, you saw what happened the last time they played us at the Under 17 level 2 years ago, basically, with the same players we will meet. And we can't right-off Aruba and Guatemala either."

"This is a good opportunity for us playing in Jamaica because it's like playing at home in a sense. We reviewed the training grounds, the stadiums and hotels and they were very comfortable."

"Our preparations now will changed a bit as the teams we were hoping to play as warm ups are now in our group therefore we can't play them, so more or less we have to fall back on plan B and C, we have to sit down and put things in place now."

"I am just hoping we can get the support from the players Clubs cause we will need the them full-time come December 01st for training camps and international dates."

"I really hope some sponsors and everyone in the football circle come onboard to help out as this team is the future of T&T football and have some good talented players on it."

CanMNT: Nine MLS players picked for preparation camp for Under-20 CONCACAF Championship

With the qualifying tournament for next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup on the horizon, Canada is looking to put its best foot forward with a trio of games against tough competition.

The team heads to Europe for training camp starting Sunday before friendly matches against England (Nov. 12, in Bournemouth, England), Russia (Nov. 15) and the USA (Nov. 18). The latter two matches will take place in Marbella, Spain.

The matches come in advance of January’s CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will serve as the qualifying tournament for the U-20 World Cup, taking place in May and June. Canada is in a group with Mexico, Haiti, Cuba, Honduras and El Salvador, and will need to finish in the top three to have a shot at earning one of the region’s four places in the tournament.

The 18-player roster for the upcoming friendlies will have plenty of familiar faces – nine players are currently with an MLS side, five have prior experience with an MLS academy and three play in the NASL.

Two players – Toronto FC’s Manny Aparicio and Jordan Hamilton (pictured above) – earned their first caps for the senior men’s national team last month against Colombia, while the Montreal Impact’s Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé has already made five appearances for Canada’s senior side.

“We have good competition for places,” head coach Robert Gale said in a release. “By no means is anyone guaranteed to make the starting XI with the competition we have.

“This camp is going to be an excellent test for the players with the opposition but also a chance for them to show that they can compete and take those spots going into January.”

Of note: Marco Bustos of the Vancouver Whitecaps, who accepted a call-up to Chile’s U-20 national team over the summer, is back with Canada for this camp. Bustos was born in Winnipeg and played for Canada at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

COMPLETE ROSTER BY POSITION:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Marco Carducci (Vancouver Whitecaps), Nolan Wirth (Oregon State University)

DEFENDERS (6): Samuel Adekugbe (Vancouver Whitecaps), Marko Aleksic (FC Edmonton), Alexander Comsia (RC Strasbourg/France), Luca Gasparotto (Rangers/Scotland), Jordan Haynes (Vancouver Whitecaps Residency), Chris Serban (University of British Columbia)

MIDFIELDERS (8) Manny Aparicio (Toronto FC), Louis Béland-Goyette (Montreal Impact), Hanson Boakai (FC Edmonton), Marco Bustos (Vancouver Whitecaps), Dylan Carreiro (Dundee FC/Scotland), Kianz Froese (Vancouver Whitecaps), Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé (Montreal Impact), Michael Petrasso (Queens Park Rangers/England)

Good job by the TTFA.

Hopefully the clubs cooperate.

And hopefully we have all of our players including the few foreign base.
