Shaka Hislop Interview: Exclusive Chat with ESPN Soccer Analyst
By The Gaffer (epltalk.com)

ESPN soccer pundit Shaka Hislop has had the privilege to play for several clubs in the top flight of English football. He was goalkeeper at Newcastle United, West Ham United and Portsmouth, as well as Reading and FC Dallas. And he played in goal for Trinidad and Tobago during the 2006 World Cup in a memorable tournament for the Caribbean nation.

But many don’t realize he played for the England under-21 side and was a substitute goalkeeper on the bench for a full England international game against Chile.

Hislop’s career in England from 1992 to 2006 are full of many personal achievements and fascinating stories. During the interview, we talk about many of them including whether he thinks Newcastle United could have won the league in the 1996-97 season if he had not got injured in December, 1996.

Plus Hislop discusses his role in ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 World Cup and much much more.

I love Shaka's accent. It has like a English flow but Trini pronunciation. Unique.

I love Shaka's accent. It has like a English flow but Trini pronunciation. Unique.

There definitely seems to be an English influence to it, ah heard ah "meself" in there, almost sounded Tobagonian in that regard.  Certainly not the "typical" Trini accent, but no less "genuine" in its authenticity.
