All good developments but I would still like to see the team play games against quality opposition to help prepare them for the final round.

A $3million medical care plan, which covers players and staff of ten Trinidad and Tobago national football teams, and training facilities for the senior women’s national team in the build-up to their World Cup qualification campaign,
are among the sponsorship deals announced yesterday by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA).

And after boasting the TTFA are hosting tournaments, and that national teams are beating whoever they meet, TTFA president and Port of Spain mayor Raymond Tim Kee is urging other corporate citizens to partner with the TTFA in support of football. “I sincerely hope that other corporate citizens who are looking and who read the newspapers, would wish to join this organisation (TTFA) as a demonstration of future interest in football,” Tim Kee declared.

It was announced that T&T’s women’s team, the Soca Princesses, had on Thursday entered a live-in camp at the beach facility of oil company Petrotrin, for two weeks intensive training in preparation for World Cup qualifying.

“An Arrangement is provided for access to the facility, room, board, transportation to the facility is provided as well to and from the facility to Petrotrin Velodrome,” TTFA general secretary Sheldon Phillip disclosed. “Access to the club, the pool, the gym certainly, so it really is an all-inclusive enviroment that is conducive to the teams preparation for CONCACAF qualification.”

Most recent rankings are out for the ladies. Not sure why we did not gain more points? Are the recently friendliest and CFU's not inclusive of these numbers ?

How did we make that jump though? Before last month we had not played a game for almost 2 years.

When a team is inactive for 18 months it loses it ranking.  What I don't understand is two sets if rankings ago we were 48th with 1509 points.  Now we are 46th with 1505 points yet with showing a zero spot increase.  With recent matches played.  Anyone make sense of all this ??

Never the less. I still like our Concacaf group and out chances.

Cheers

Waldrum pleased with training camp

Story Created: Sep 27, 2014 at 9:37 PM ECT
http://www.trinidadexpress.com/sports/Waldrum-pleased-with-training-camp-277343421.html

Trinidad and Tobago’s senior women’s team head-coach Randy Waldrum has described the opening week of the live-in training camp at the Petrotrin Beach Camp in Palo Seco as beneficial towards his team’s preparations for the CONCACAF Final Round of qualification next month for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Waldrum has been overseeing daily training sessions in Palo Seco after Petrotrin agreed to host the team for their final home-based camp before their scheduled departure to the United States for the opening match against the US in Kansas. T&T will also face Guatemala and Haiti in the group phase of the CONCACA Final round next month.

“I can’t thank Petrotrin enough for their support of the T&T women’s team by hosting us on their facility. The team desperately needed time to come together in a residency setting before we take off for the US, and Petrotrin was great to step forward and provide this,” Waldrum stated.

“We are finding that the company has been extremely accommodating in providing basically whatever it is that we need. There is a great pool area for workouts, a nice facility for us to relax and eat meals in, and a very nice beach just hundreds of yards away from our housing. We’ve been able to bond better all here together, and able to get in regular training with everyone,” Waldrum added.

“The beach and pool provides us with great workout and regeneration that is so key after practice. This is a very important time for our team development, and this residency will go a long way in helping us qualify.”

Maybe if we hadn't wasted so much money on Tarouba and Stadia, so anxiously ready to jump into the future. Why now we have to step back to prepare to move forward..Don't worry, it's ok. It's the next forward step that will count. As long as we don't try to make it to far from our last, we will know where we are.

Good re-track by Randy, if he would only tell he truth though.

Sometimes, he get 5 players showing up for training.

He himself have to ask players to give him a ride home.

... but who can blame him, not everyone is Popeye, and George W. didn't like broccoli. Coach, read this excerpt ...

Quote
Bodi provides a sufficient amount of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber helps to protect the mucous membrane of the colon by decreasing its exposure time to toxic substances. Fiber also found to reduce LDL-cholesterol levels. Fresh bodi is one of the finest source of folates.

A quarter pound of bodi provides 15% of daily requirement of folates. Folate along with vitamin B-12 is one of the essential components of DNA synthesis and cell division. Adequate folate in the diet around conception and during pregnancy may help prevent some birth defects. A quarter pound of bodi provides a third of the daily requirement for vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful water-soluble antioxidant and when adequately provided in the diet, it helps build immunity against infections.

Bodi is an excellent source of vitamin A. Bodi has more of this vitamin than any other legumes. Vitamin A maintains mucus membrane integrity, enhances skin complexion, and improves night vision.

Mollon to join Soca Princesses.
T&T Newsday Reports.

WITH A month left on her season-long contract with Swedish football club Kvarnsvedens IK, national female representative Ahkeela Darcel Mollon is expected to return home later this week for preparations ahead of the forthcoming CONCACAF qualification leg in the United States, for spots at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

The stalwart athlete accepted the invitation for national duty after all matters were resolved with her club. After 23 league games, her team now sit in third position with just three more league matches left and according to the club, her presence would be sorely missed.

Thus far, Mollon has recorded 10 goals, 13 Most Valuable Player awards and seven assists in all matches, which presently stands at 25 to date. Mollon is Trinidad and Tobago’s most active female player at the moment and would be joining the national contingent at a pivotal moment. Her manager Narada Wilson, along with The Brazil Link Sports team, have already made all the necessary “off the field” arrangements to see the player on the squad in time for the pre-tournament camp.

“Passport and visas are all valid, we were in contact with Mr (Sheldon) Phillips and Ms (Vernetta) Flanders to have the request letter sent, once I received it, I spoke to the President of the club. He praised Ahkeela for her good work all season and she was allowed to make the trip.

Next step, (will be) Sweden to Trinidad via London was arranged and an overnight in London to make it easier on Ahkeela. We always ensure our players get the best treatment so the Federation’s work is made easier, this is needed more so with the challenges it faces,” stated Wilson.

Mollon is due in Trinidad by tomorrow and will be present at Saturday’s training session. The dreadlocked Swedish based-player will add to TT’s powerful attacking line-up of captain Maylee Attin-Johnson, Tasha St Louis, Kennya Cordner, Mariah Shade and company as they prepare to conquer CONCACAF football while in the USA.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Senior women’s team set for departure Saturday.
By Andrew  Gioannetti (Guardian).

Granted all visa and passport requirements are sorted, this country’s senior women’s team will depart for Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, where they will settle in ahead of the US-hosted Concacaf Women’s Championship, which starts in just over two weeks’ time.

Contacted yesterday, T&T Football Association (TTFA) general secretary Sheldon Phillips confirmed this and added that the association is currently working on three warm-up matches, which will likely include local professional women’s teams. He said the identities of the three teams will be made public upon the team’s departure.

They will all be crucial for the T&T players, who evidently faced little competition when they claimed the inaugural CFU Women’s Caribbean Cup, hosted on home soil in August.

T&T won all four matches, including the final (1-0 over Jamaica) scoring 22 goals without conceding. After the final, head coach Randy Waldrum admitted that the hardest part was yet to come as T&T faces the confederation’s powerhouses in an effort to qualify for its first ever Fifa Women’s World Cup. Nevertheless, there have been claims by many, including the coach that this country has been stands at having its best chance of qualifying in recent time and for the forseeable future.

T&T’s cause has been aided by the fact that Canada will host the World Cup and, therefore will not be required to go through the Concacaf qualifying tournament.

At the championship, T&T will open against the world’s highest ranked women’s team in USA on October 15, then Haiti (October 17) and Guatemala (October 19), in the other group stage matches. USA qualified for the final round directly, while Guatemala and Haiti came through the Central America and Caribbean qualifying, respectively.

Despite having no shortage of quality up front, Waldrum’s attack will be further boosted by the inclusion of one of the most active and highest rated national players, Ahkeela Darcel Mollon, who returned home from Sweden, on Tuesday night. She is set to join other attacking talents in Kennya Cordner, Mariah Shade, Tasha St Louis and captain Maylee Attin-Johnson.

Mollon was permitted to leave her club, Kvarnsvedens IK, which sits third in Sweden’s second tier with three matches remaining. She, however, was allowed to leave as the club’s hierarchy admitted it stood little chance of promotion to the top division, needing eight points, while hoping for results in other matches to go its way.

This season alone, the 29-year-old forward scored 10 goals, recorded seven assists and earned 13 individual MVP titles.

From the Concacaf Championship, three teams will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the fourth-best team will enter a play-off against Ecuador, which placed third at the South America qualifying tournament, recently.

The top two teams in each group will move into the semifinals, with the winners meeting in the final and the losers in a third-place playoff. The winner of the playoff, therefore, will also qualify directly to the World Cup, while the loser will play Ecuador for the last chance to qualify.

Group B at the Concacaf Championship includes Costa Rica (Central America qualifying tournament winner), Jamaica (CFU runner-up), Martinique (CFU fouth place) and Mexico another automatic qualifier.

Schedule: T&T Concacaf Championship schedule

October 15

USA v T&T, Sporting Park, Kansas City, Kansas

October 17

Haiti v T&T, Toyota Park, Bridgeview, Illinois

October 19

T&T v Guatemala, RFK Stadium, Washington DC

October 24

Semifinals

October 26

Final

I'm concerned that the women's team is heading into this competition without having played any games recently.

Soca Princesses grounded owing to TTFA $$ woes.
By Ian Prescott (Express).

SHAMEFUL

JUST OVER month on from being crowned queens of Caribbean football at the inaugural Women’s Caribbean Championship, the local-based core of the Trinidad and Tobago national team (Soca Princesses) remain grounded at home due to the failure of local football’s governing body to raise $40,000, to process visa applications for team members.

The financially challenged Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) continues to find it difficult attracting corporate sponsors, while seemingly inept at raising funds for what appears, arguably, this country’s best ever chance to qualify for a FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Soca Princesses were expected to fly out Saturday to the USA for the final round of qualifiers for next year’s World Cup in Canada.

Eight key foreign-based players are away from the team, in the US, while the local-based bunch had a two-week camp at Petrotrin beach house facilities. Among those separated from the local contingent are US-born striker Liana Hinds and Daneil Blair, who was a nominee for best US college defender a couple of years ago.

Also among the separated bunch are goalkeeper Kamika Forbes, her sister (central midfielder) Karen Forbes, and defender Ria Belgrave, all members of the squad which edged Jamaica 1-0 on August 26 to win the Caribbean Championship here in Trinidad.

“We ideally wanted to leave Saturday, but application to process visas is set for Monday (today),” intimated Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) general secretary Sheldon Phillips in response to enquiries by The Express. “Raising funds for the visa applications, $1200 per person, was the issue,” he added.

The team’s late arrival in the USA leaves American-born head-coach Randy Waldrum little time to integrate the local-based players with the foreign-based members of his squad. If the Soca Princesses do qualify for a first FIFA Women’s World Cup, as some anticipate, it will be a tough road travelled.

Waldrum will have had inadequate time to integrate the two halves of his team, while guessing about the fitness level of his US-based players, ahead of their opening match of the series next Sunday against the USA, rated the No.1 women’s team in the world. The Soca Princesses also play matches against Caribbean Championship third-placed team, Haiti, as well as Guatemala, who have never beaten T&T.

At a press conference two weeks ago, Phillips indicated the TTFA’s intention to allow Waldrum a pre-tournament USA camp, which would have included some warm-up matches intended to aid in the team’s integration. That looks difficult now.

Phillips had said: “The plan is to take the team to the US, very close to Kansas City, which will be the very first venue for the team, and plans are to have them in the US about seven days before the first match.”

Potential victories over Haiti and Guatemala and a good result against the US could see the Soca Princesses into the final four of the October 12-26 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, from which the top three automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the fourth-placed also have a shot via a playoff against a South American team.

Expansion of the World Cup from 16 to 24 teams has given the CONCACAF region an extra automatic qualifying spot, and with hosts and top 10-ranked Canada not needing to qualify, Waldrum believes T&T chances at reaching next year’s World Cup is a real possibility.

“Eight teams and 3 1/2 qualifying spots, I think that’s the best opportunity in the next ten years to qualify,“ Waldrum said. And he should know, having been a US women’s under-23 national coach only two years ago.

Waldrum also has near 400 college victories on his resume and is one of the most decorated US women’s colleges coaches, having led Notre Dame to two national championships and ten division titles. He is also currently coach of the Houston Dash, a professional outfit which plays at the highest level in the US.

Waldrum is donating his services free because the TTFA cannot yet pay him. His explanation is that it is a fantastic opportunity to qualify the first Caribbean team for a FIFA Women’s World Cup.
