Levi may have to wait until they play their uefa CL qualifiers. The club up the asking price to 30 mil and probably want to ensure aek qualify before considering selling. Without Levi, their chances of qualifying take a hit. Levi would still be eligible to play in the group stage for another club.
It would be interesting if aek end up playing lens whether he moves there or not.

I read an article saying that Lens still want Levi but not willing to wait after Aug 15 which is the last day of ucl playoffs.

He scored 1 great shot but missed a penalty

I hope this report saying he signed a new contract is not true. Why not wait until after the ucl qualifiers?

Levi Garcia update: Reported Celtic target decides on his future.
By Patrick Snat (67hailhail.com).

Celtic’s reported interest in Levi Garcia looks to be ending after reports in Greece have claimed he has agreed a new contract with AEK Athens.

Celtic were first linked with the Trinidad and Tobago striker back in April of this year after reports suggested that Celtic were keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.

Athens at that time had claimed that the striker was not for sale but the speculation continued after the Greek side’s owner appeared to suggest that a decision will be made on his future after the club’s Champions League group stage qualifiers.

The situation developed further in July when AEK rejected a €22m bid from Ligue 1 side Lens as they reiterated their ‘not for sale’ pledge to the French team.

It seems now that the saga may well be over as Greek outlet Sportime claim that Garcia has agreed a new contract with AEK and it seems like they have pushed out the boat for their star striker.

The report says that Garcia is set to double his current salary to €1.2m per season which includes bonuses. His contract is set to be extended until at least 2027 and he will become one of the club’s highest earners.

Celtic’s interest in Garcia probably ended the minute AEK set an asking price of €15m (£13.15m) back in May. Sportime say that price has now doubled for the Greek side to even consider letting their star striker leave.

But now, it seems that they don’t need to worry about that anymore. Garcia is expected to sign the new deal and it will bring an end to the ongoing rumours on the future of the international striker.

T&T’s Garcia signs new AEK Athens 5-year deal.
T&T Guardian Reports.

T&T senior men’s football team captain Levi Garcia rumoured transfer away from Greece League and Cup champions AEK Athens will not take place this summer after he put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with his club on improved terms.

This was after reports in Greece that Scottish Premiership champions Celtic’s reported interest in the 25-year-old T&T striker were dashed when he signed a contract extension with his current employers on Wednesday.

And the news was confirmed on the clubs’ social media account which said, Levi Garcia has renewed his contract with AEK Athens FC for a further five years, until the end of the 2027/28 season. Upon signing his new contract, Garcia said “Signing my new contract with AEK is something very important for me. We had amazing moments last season winning the double. We have very great matches ahead of us and we have to continue the successes and experience great moments again. Only AEK!”

Celtic was first linked with Garcia back in April of this year after reports suggested that the Scottish club was keeping tabs on the former FC Santa Rosa player.

Athens at that time had claimed that the striker was not for sale, but the speculation continued after the Greek side’s owner appeared to suggest that a decision will be made on his future after the club’s Champions League group stage qualifiers.

The situation developed further in July when AEK rejected a €22m bid from Ligue 1 side RC Lens, their second attempt at securing the player, after a bid of €18.5m was turned down, as they reiterated their ‘not for sale’ pledge to the French team.

The new deal for Garcia is rumoured to double his current salary to €1.2m per season inclusive of bonuses, making him one of the club’s highest earners.

Celtic’s interest in Garcia probably ended the minute AEK set an asking price of €15m (£13.15m) back in May.

So far this pre-season Garcia has been in fine form for the Greek outfit, scoring six goals in four matches.

Last Sunday, the T&T captain scored and also missed a penalty in a 3-1 win over Turkey’s Super League outfit Trabzonspor 3-1 at Senol Gunes Stadium, in Trabzon, Türkey for their fourth win on the trot after losing their opener against Croatia’s NK Locomotive Zagreb on July 4.

On July 13, Garcia scored a hat-trick in his team’s 5-0 trashing of Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk with Angola’s Zini scoring the two other goals in the 83rd, and 86th.

Then on July 23, AEK Athens blanked domestic rivals Volos 3-0 with Garcia netting an early brace in the 15th and 21st minutes, and Theodosis Macheras, the other on the hour mark.

AEK is set to begin defence of its Stoiximan Super League title on August 19 at home to Panetolikos.

Last season, Garcia had a good year for AEK with 18 goals scored in 37 games in all competitions, to finish second in the ‘Golden Boot’ race to Olympiacos’ Cedric Bakambu of the Democratic Republic of Congo by four goals.

He has now scored 32 in all competitions in three seasons with the Greek champions having joined the club for around £ 1.9 million from Israel’s Beitar Jerusalem in 2020.

Among the other clubs to have shown an interest in Garcia are Wolfsburg and Stuttgart, both of Germany, Spanish duo Real Sociedad, and Villarreal, Bologna of Italy, and Portuguese powerhouses SL Benfica, and Sporting Lisbon.

Last May, the T&T striker completed the domestic double in the 2022/2023 Greece Football season when they blanked PAOK FC 2-0 final of the Greece Novibet Cup final.

Levi Garcia renews contract with AEK Athens: 'He stays with us'.
By Narissa Fraser (T&T Newsday).

AFTER a successful 2022/2023 season, TT footballer Levi Garcia has renewed his contract with Greek club AEK Athens. He will remain with the club until 2028.

Garcia helped his team cop two pieces of silverware this season, winning both the Greek Super League – in which he bagged 14 goals – and the Greek Cup.

The Santa Flora-born footballer had told Newsday this season was "massive" and the best of his three years at the club.

Over the last few weeks, there have been many rumours of a top-flight French club wanting to snatch him from AEK.

However, in a Facebook post on Thursday, AEK confidently said: "Levi stays with us!

"Levi joined AEK from Beitar Jerusalem in the summer of 2020 and in the three years that followed, he played in 111 official matches and scored 32 goals. He is one of the main contributors to the great run of the 2022-23 season by winning the Double."

It quoted Garcia as saying the contract renewal is "very important" to him.

"We had amazing moments last season winning the double. We have very great matches ahead of us and we have to continue the successes and experience great moments again. Only AEK!"

Agreed. He's 25 and just got a good salary guaranteed until he's 30, which sets him up right. If he moves to Celtic, who is to say it works out? If it fails, he might struggle to get Champions League football again, and he's clearly enjoying his time on the pitch.

In my book if he waited until after the qualifiers he would be better placed to make a decision and to bargain. He had no worries about aek appreciating his value. They know they very fortunate to have him. He's not even the highest paid at the club. Vida gets 1.8 mil a year.
The club come out the best in this situation.
I wonder what the buy out clause is

Levi got an assist in the first leg. Today he missed a penalty in the 10th minute of added time but luckily the highest paid aek man Vida put in the rebound for them to draw and win the tie.

AEK were beaten by Antwerp in Belgium and will look for a turnaround in New Philadelphia with Matias Almeida getting some good news on Wednesday .

The tests to which Levia Garcia was submitted showed that he has nothing serious, since according to the diagnosis he has a pull in the quadriceps

That means the Trinidad and Tobago striker will be racing to be fit for the second leg against Antwerp next Wednesday (30/08).

The data on the position of the forward against Panseraikos
At the same time, Levia Garcia will sit out Saturday's match against Panserraikos (26/08, 21.30). In this matchup, Almeida's options are terribly limited.

Garcia, Moses eager to press on after Eve’s reappointment
T&T Guardian

Trinidad and Tobago European-based duo Levi Garcia and Kareem Moses have both admitted that they are pleased to have had the subject of the head coach position sorted out as they now look ahead to the business of preparations for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches in September.

Garcia, who is an uncertain call-up for the next match against Curacao at the Hasely Crawford Stadium next week Thursday due to a thigh injury, is keen to put the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup behind him and wants to focus on the Nations League and 2026 World Cup qualifying.

T&T will be away to El Salvador on September 10.

“Seeing how important these games are, it’s good to have everyone on the same page again. I am happy for the coach and his staff. Now we can focus on the tasks ahead and we will continue to work towards our targets,” the 25-year-old Garcia said.

“After coming off a heartbreaking Gold Cup this would be a perfect chance to get going again because we know how important it is to not only get a good start in September but also to stay up in League A and set things up for the World Cup qualifiers for 2026,” added the AEK Athens player who was among the goals last season when his club won two titles.

About his injury, the former Shiva Boys’ Hindu College player and Siparia Spurs standout noted, “There is some uncertainty on my availability as it’s a first-degree tear on his quadriceps but I’m working on it in God’s name.”

Meantime, Moses, who plies his trade with Finnish club FF Jaro, is also eager to put the Gold Cup behind him.

He said, “It’s good that the FA has made a decision on Angus and the way forward for the team going into these next two Nations League matches. I think the FA made an excellent choice in bringing him back as the head coach mainly because of his record and how he manages to motivate the players no matter what the situation is. He always gets the best out of the team and I believe it will be no different in these upcoming Nations League matches.”

Moses, 33, said, “Now we can focus on preparations and putting our heads together to try and get the best possible results. We know how much it hurt us with the two disappointing results at the Gold Cup. But as the saying goes, in football you always get second chances and this is what have to focus on now—putting the Gold Cup behind us and trying to capitalise on the opportunities ahead of us over these next few weeks.”

Last week Tuesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) announced that it has granted Senior Men’s National Team head coach Angus Eve an extension on his contract until March 2024.

Eve led the team to promotion to League A in the CONCACAF Nations League which Robert Hadad, the chairman of the FIFA appointed Normalisation Committee stated, “Angus has come into the role bringing stability, quality and belief to the team.”

Eve, a former T&T captain and standout and midfielder, will name his final squad over the coming days for the match vs Curacao which kicks off at 6 pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium next week Thursday.

Tickets are priced at $50 for uncovered, $100 for covered and Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at Fan Zone outlets and Fan Club (Trinity Mall) as well as online on islandetickets.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the venue on match day.

AEK: Livai Gassia is in for the rematch with Antwerp

AEK goes fully armed to the rematch with Antwerp (30/08, 22:00, COSMOTE Sport 2 and Live SPORT24 ) with the aim of qualifying for the Champions League groups , as Matias Almeida took Levia Garcia with him.

The 25-year-old forward from Trinidad and Tobago followed a special program in the last training session before the match against the Belgians and his availability will depend until the last minute. Cican Stankovic, who trained at full speed for the second training session in a row, is also expected

Fighting down peeps is not in my personality, and I know players miss waaay more goals that they score...but oh gosh Levi you coulda score at least of those three or four chances!

The last attempt to lob the keeper with his right foot, reminded me that he's just back from injury though, and he did something after that, that made me think he felt something...sure enough he was subbed out soon after.

Wasted opportunity to advertise himself in England, still love him, just keeping it ah buck :)
