Love it!! That's what we need....a little entertainment here and there. I can remember players like Gazza having fun playing the game. Not enough of that anymore.

One man's entertainment is another's poison. The commentator states that plays such as this are against the code of football. The reaction of the players reflects that they concur. Not sure that Martins advanced the attack with that ... although I think he was fouled. But to award him the foul might have added insult to injury.

I never play a professional sport in my life. But, as a layperson, big man crying about another player or team 'showing off' does never sit right with me. Seem more like petulance than any kind of a code.

There is an unwritten code amongst professional footballers, and that kind of showboating goes against it. See germany v brazil 7-1...

Screw, unwritten code. Then you should not push the ball thru a man's leg if the opportunity arises? By the way, more power to Elton.

While I agree that players may get vexed when guys show off, there are moments in football that stick in your memory because of the flair, ingenuity and sheer nerve of the player. Some of these moments may be deemed as skillful rather than showing off, but that would depend on the individual observer. Higuita's scorpian kick against England being an example of completely unnecessary showmanship, yet it has been voted as one of sports 100 greatest moments.

Maybe some players think it breaks their unwritten code, but I would like to continue to see these occasional moments in football.
