Wambach=political sub.
Seems like she is a fan and team favorite.
Also surprised Leroux eh get more playing time. To me she is just a healthier version of Alex Morgan.
Morgan eh do much as she was coming back from and injury.

I'm being harsh on her... good player in her time, just can't stand her.  She plays like a bull in a china shop when going after headers, yet would hit the ground in a heartbeat if you only breathe on her.  I have no respect for divers.

She might beat yuh ass every now and then, so as long as yuh could take lash and doh bruise easy...

SUMMARY OF THE 2015 WWC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Lloyd-inspired USA crowned in style
FIFA.com

USA ended their 16-year FIFA Women’s World Cup™ drought in the most emphatic manner imaginable with a Carli Lloyd hat-trick lifting the Stars and Stripes past holders Japan for their third title.

A scarcely believable four-goal salvo inside the opening 16 minutes meant there was only ever going to be one winner to the joy of the largely pro-USA 53,341 crowd in Vancouver.

USA were quickest to the ball from the opening whistle and immediately reaped greater rewards than they could ever have imagined. A low driven Megan Rapinoe corner from the right deceived a flat-footed Japan defence and Lloyd finished first time from near the penalty spot to put a perfect flourish to a training ground move.

Barely 150 seconds had passed on the stadium clock but, incredibly it was about to get even better for the Stars and Stripes. A low free-kick from Lauren Holiday evaded a swathe of players before the ball found its way, almost magnetically, to Lloyd who applied the finishing touch from close range. USA were 2-0 up inside five minutes and Lloyd had nabbed the two fastest goals in Women’s World Cup Final history.

Japan were looking uncharacteristically shaky at the back and when central defender Azusa Iwashimizu failed to deal with a Tobin Heath delivery, Holiday latched onto the loose ball to volley home. Only fourteen minutes had elapsed but USA already had one hand on the trophy.

Just two minutes later the contest was effectively over as Lloyd completed a 13-minute hat-trick with a goal straight from the realms of fantasy. Collecting the ball inside her own half Lloyd advanced before unleashing a high shot from the halfway line over the head of Ayumi Kaihori, whose desperate back-peddling only resulted in finger-tipping the ball onto the inside of the post and into the net.

Incredibly Lloyd, playing the match of her life, almost immediately scored another, heading just wide and narrowly failing to become the first person to score four in a World Cup Final of either gender. Then it was the turn of Alex Morgan who made a trademark driving run into the box and although she did not make full connection with her shot Kaihori was still forced into a diving save.

However, Japan grabbed a much-needed goal midway through the opening half thanks to inspired finishing from Yuki Ogimi who ended Hope Solo’s run of 540-minute unbeaten run by superbly spinning away from marker Julie Johnston and coolly firing home.

The Nadeshiko momentarily looked like they would pull another goal back three minutes later and only some fine scrambling defening prevented a clear shot on goal with Aya Miyama’s final shot unable to trouble Solo.

Japan coach Norio Sasaki threw caution to the wind making two substitutes inside 40 minutes. The heroine of the 2011 Final, Homare Sawa, firstly entered the fray soon followed by forward Yuika Sugasawa, in place of central defender Iwashimizu and Nahomi Kawasumi.

Five minutes after the break Morgan Brian forced Kaihori to push a long-rage effort over the crossbar, but it was Japan who managed to reduce the deficit further as Johnston could only get a glancing header on Miyama’s perfectly-flighted free-kick inadvertently directing the ball past Solo.

Yet USA restored their three-goal margin almost immediately as Heath netted from close range after Morgan Brian provided the assist after Kaihori was unable to deal with a corner.

Striker Morgan then looked to get her name on the scoresheet with a sharp turn and shot narrowly wide. While there were to be no further goals, some of the biggest roars of the day were reserved for the late introductions of veterans Abby Wambach and Christie Rampone.

Match Highlights

Jill Ellis, USA coach
After 15 minutes, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. We wanted to put them under pressure right from the start, and everything fell into place perfectly. To be honest, I couldn’t really have imagined things turning out better. However, I did know that my players were capable of doing something exceptional. That’s what they were born to do. The greater the pressure on their shoulders, the more they perform at a higher level. My backroom staff also did a fantastic job. We have a lot of respect for Japan, but tonight we were completely focused and were able to adapt our style of play perfectly.

Norio Sasaki, Japan coach
My players have given their all in every match, and overall they’ve had a great tournament here in Canada. Today, though, the Americans were simply too strong. In the first few minutes, it seemed as if every shot ended up in the back of the net. But we never gave up fighting for our supporters in the stadium and back home in Japan. We’re proud of our performances. Four years ago, we won in Germany and in doing so we really gave the development of women’s football in Japan a big boost. This time around, we reached the final, and I hope that this will lead to a new period of growth for the game. I would like to congratulate the Americans and thank the Canadians, who organised a superb tournament. USA are on top right now, and it’s up to us to emulate them. Women’s football in Japan is far from finished.

A tournament that broke all records
FIFA.com

The seventh FIFA Women’s World Cup™ began in record-breaking style, with 24 teams lining up for the very first time in the competition’s history, and ended on a similarly momentous note, as USA became the first nation to lift the Trophy three times. Just for good measure, Canada 2015 also yielded an all-time-high of 112 goals, one more than the previous best, set at Germany 2011.

The tournament ended on a suitably spectacular note, as the Stars and Stripes swamped defending champions Japan 5-2. The contest was effectively over by the 16th minute, by which time the Americans had surged into a 4-0 lead, three of those goals coming from the talismanic Carli Lloyd.

It was appropriate that the 32-year-old midfielder should prove USA’s hero. Lloyd missed a penalty in the shootout that decided the Germany 2011 Final between the same two sides, which ended with the Nadeshiko celebrating their first world title. She and 13 other members of the USA squad were on duty that fateful night in Frankfurt, a defeat they have now avenged in style.

Awarded the adidas Golden Ball as the tournament’s most outstanding player, Lloyd later described her side’s performance as “historic”, while goalkeeper Hope Solo said it was the greatest moment of her career. The seven-goal encounter was the highest-scoring final in the history of the competition and drew an enthusiastic response from US President Barack Obama, who tweeted his congratulations to the victors: “What a win for Team USA! Great game @CarliLloyd! Your country is so proud of all of you. Come visit the White House with the World Cup soon.”

Records for Sawa, Formiga and Marta

Despite failing to retain the title, Japan have plenty of reasons to be cheerful. Coach Norio Sasaki seemed to agree, saying that it was a success in itself to reach the Final. Canada 2015 was veteran Japanese midfielder Homare Sawa’s sixth World Cup, a record for the competition, which she now shares with Brazil’s Formiga, who also became the tournament's oldest markswoman.

With her strike against Korea Republic in the group phase, Formiga’s team-mate Marta became the highest all-time scorer in the Women’s World Cup with 15 goals, one more than the great German striker Birgit Prinz. The Brazilians advanced from the group phase as the only side along with Japan to win all their group matches, but exited the competition in the Round of 16, going down 1-0 to Australia.

Third place went to England, their best finish in the competition. The Three Lionesses secured the last place on the podium courtesy of a 1-0 win over Germany, a victory that broke a 20-game winless run against their old foes. England’s ground-breaking run featured a quarter-final defeat of the hosts, who advanced beyond the group phase for only the second time, much to the delight of the more than 1.3 million viewers who followed their progress on TV.

Germany again missed out on a place in the top three, just as they had done on home soil four years ago, when they fell in the quarter-finals. With legendary goalkeeper Nadine Angerer having now retired from international football and coach Silvia Neid set to hand over the reins to former international Steffi Jones at the end of 2016, the Germans face a transitional phase.

Judging by the talented youngsters they unveiled in Canada, however, Die Mannschaft would appear to have grounds for viewing any generational handover with optimism. FIFA Fair Play Award winners France can also look forward to a bright future. Though dejected to lose on penalties to the Germans in the quarter-finals, with Eugenie le Sommer, Louisa Necib and Camille Abily in their ranks, Les Bleues have plenty of talent to sustain them in the years ahead.

Coast to coast

Perfectly encapsulating the tournament slogan 'To a Greater Goal™', the eight debutants (Côte d’Ivoire, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, Thailand, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Cameroon) mostly acquitted themselves well on their first appearances on the big stages, with the Dutch, Swiss and Cameroonians all reaching the Round of 16.

Boasting players of the calibre of Asisat Oshoala, Veronica Boquete and Shirley Cruz, Nigeria, Spain and Costa Rica respectively brought a breath of fresh air to the competition and showed that the women’s game is on the up and up around the world.

Canada’s national motto is A Mari Usque Ad Mare (From Sea To Sea), which is entirely appropriate for a tournament in which games were staged from Moncton in the east all the way to Vancouver in the west and across five time zones in all, a first in the history of the game.

“This World Cup should serve as inspiration to all the member associations,” commented Lydia Nsekera, Chairwoman of the Committee for Women’s Football and the FIFA Women’s World Cup, at the tournament’s closing press conference. Nsekera also urged the champions not to rest on their laurels – while the seventh women’s world finals are now over, the eighth are already hoving into view.

So it’s goodbye Canada 2015 and salut France 2019!

My 11.

Solo (USA)
Buchanan (CAN)
Johnson (USA)
Renard (FRA)
Bronze (ENG)
Hegerberg (NOR)
Lloyd (USA)
Holiday (USA)
Okobi (NIG)
Le Sommer (FRA)
Sasic (GER)

Notably no Brazilians. No issue with that. But ah feel, I would have to find a way to include Lisa De Vanna. Will return with my XI when time permits.

Other interesting thing is that you play Buchanan on the left flank. Ah liking de Le Sommer look.

Love Bronze as a player... Asylum know how much I love Jill Scott, didn't see Okobi play, but I might put Scott in ahead of her, but I'm biased in that regard.  Buchanan is a CB and LeSommer an attacking mid.  I'd play Lloyd in the hole (in a 4-4-1-1) but can't display that formation it seems, so 4-5-1 it is, with Sasic up top alone.

Solo (USA)
Johnson (USA)
Buchanan (CAN)
Renard (FRA)
Bronze (ENG)
Le Sommer (FRA)
   Miyama (JAP)
Lloyd (USA)
Necib (FRA)
Scott (ENG)
Sasic (GER)

Lloyd (USA)
Necib (FRA)
Scott (ENG)
Sasic (GER)

Good line-up, the only thing different I would do is switch Necib and Le Sommer but this team is solid.

We get to choose (Kinda! ... after FIFA.com pre-selected 12). Vote for goal of the tournament. Discuss and debate.

I have LeSommer on the wing because she mainly played that left wing attack from the games I saw.  Necib is more of a central playmaker rather than an attacking player, thus why I have her central.  Not sure how she would function on the wing, I don't necessarily consider her a pacy player... but all guesswork on my part, really.
