but Coach, the boys do not graduate or progress to Mr. Cooper..they are selected.ie. they don't come to him with a certain skill set, he selects them because of a certain skill set. His job is to select a group/team, which he thinks he can co-ordinate and enhance thru strategical preparation and training, to be competitive against International competition. Thu they are also required to be familiar with there possible intl competitors. Sometimes I hear coaches & fans say, we just have to play our game, don't worry about them. Recipe for disaster. I don't think Ntnl Coaching is so much about development, except during those Intl tournaments.
going back to hear the rest of interview... thanks btw
in the end
I think he knows his craft, and more importantly knows the challenges and obstacles within his environment ..can he produce/make future National players, not many, with the limited resources and availability, can he Find future National players, definitely, if he doesn't get fedup and quit and does his job properly(sometimes u get to a period u don't care, but it doesn't last). Not an easy task. Especially at the age group level. The discovery & selection at this level is probably most important, however, we tend to lose them to US colleges afterwards, and many quit after their degree as regular life becons, as well as some do not return, thus no passing of experience.
