http://www.sportsmax.tv/?q=articles/2015/02/22/football-hope-torn-between-barbados-and-trinidad-choiceTwenty-year-old Bury striker Hallam Hope has admitted that choosing his international future is a difficult one.
Despite playing for England U-17s and U-19s, the
Manchester, England-born player is eligible to represent Barbados through his father who immigrated to England before Hope was born. Hope's paternal grandfather hails from Trinidad and Tobago.
“Playing for England is going to be very tough as I am not in the Premier League at Everton anymore. To choose between Barbados and Trinidad is a tough decision for me to make, I feel both countries as part of my culture. And, I truly admire my family members from both countries. If only you could play for two countries. But to be very honest, I am just going to need more time to think. I am 20 years old so maybe in a year or so I will select,” Hope said.
Both Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados will open their 2018 World Cup Qualifiers in 2015, Barbados will kick off in Round 1, while Trinidad and Tobago are in Round 4, and will wait later in the year to open their qualifiers.
“ I remember watching Trinidad at the 2006 World Cup and I also remember Barbados beating Costa Rica in 2001, great results. Both teams have calibre but let us see. I won’t make a hasty decision; it is a tough one to make.”
