Philly Train crash

Members of the forum who live in and around the city of Brotherly Love. how do you assess the situation with this crash. Very tragic indeed. Did you agree with the Mayor remarks that the engineer was reckless even before the NTSB completed its investigation?

Sad situation... Mayor kinda jumped the gun with his comments, although the NTSB is saying that the train not only was traveling at 106 mph in a zone marked for 50 mph, but also that the train seemed to accelerate into the curve prior to derailing.  I feel terrible for the victims, both the deceased and survivors.  I've taken this train a lot in the past year, albeit it between Philadelphia and DC... but I've always ridden without so much as a care for a hard brake, let alone a derailment.  This train crashed not even 10 minutes after leaving 30th Street Station in Philly... hard to understand why the train would have gotten up to such a speed so soon after departure, let alone speeding into a dangerous curve.
