I read on the Copa website that the organizers are very happy about the success of the Copa Centenario. The game attendance average is about 46000, which is above the target that the organizers were expecting. Looks like Copa 2020 will be held every four years in America. Conmebol was to confirm the go ahead at the end on the tournament. But they confirmed much earlier.

They won't take 18' away from Russia- they already started the program over there in terms of preparations. The highlight for me is the officiating that seemed biased in some cases. The tournament itself served concacaf more than it hurt it. Gold cup will benefit much from this.

Excellent point. Selling tickets in USD is certainly a motivator for Conmebol.

Yes the ulterior motive is to move Russia 2018 to USA. USA has the capacity to stage an event like the WC on a short notice.
