Cedenio takes the 2016 400m national title and Gordon comes 2nd in OG standard and SB.
Deon Lendore secures 3rd place and our 3rd Olympic birth in the 400m as he has already run better than the 45.40 OG standard back in May when he ran 45.31 at the Baie Mahault Meeting International in Guadeloupe.

Our top 6 in 400m Final (highlighted in red) should make up our 4x400m Relay Squad to Rio which are:-
Machel Cedenio, Lalonde Gordon, Deon Lendore, Jarrin Solomon, Renny Quow & Jereem Richards.
Hardluck to Carlyle Roudette who is a strong relay runner as he just missed out on making our 4x400m relay pool to Rio. Lets hope Jereem Richards, who just edged out Roudette for the 6th spot rises to the occasion and can get himself into at least 45.mid form by Rio.
In fact I would like to see all the quarter-milers in our 4x400m Olympic pool run the OG standard of 45.40 or better before the Rio Games as that is the calibre of our 4x4 squad that is required for us to beat the USA and Bahamas and to win 4x400m gold in Rio and create history like the Bahamas did at the London Olympics.
In addition I would like to see Deon, Jarrin & Renny all ketch some sub-45 form before Rio so that our 4x400m team can use 4 men in sub-45 form in the 4x400m Relay Final in Rio. I think Cedenio and Gordon have already proven that they are in sub-45 form and are potential individual 400m Finalists in Rio.
Also if both Machel Cedenio and Lalonde Gordon make the individual 400m Final in Rio then we will need to rest both of them in the 4x400m Heats in Rio and still be able to field a strong enough team to win our 4x400m Heat in Rio and so secure a good lane for the 4x400m Final.
A good lane draw in the 4x4 Final and having all our men in sub-45 form can make all the difference between medalling and pressing for the gold medal or not medalling in Rio and being highly disappointed that we under-performed.
Based on current form my pick for the Men's 4x400m Final in Rio (assuming that we qualify for the Final) would be these quarter-milers in this order:-Lalonde Gordon to Jarrin Solomon to Deon Lendore to Machel Cedenio;
If we want to win the gold medal in Rio then both Solomon and Lendore needs to get themselves into sub-45 form by Rio. It will also be good for us if Renny Quow can get himself into sub-45 form as a back-up alternative for the 4x4 final in case one of our top 4 picks up an injury or under-performs in the 4x4 Heats.
And assuming both Cedenio and Gordon make the 400m individual finals and need to be rested from the 4x4 Heats in Rio, I would run this team in this order in the 4x400m Heats in Rio:-Renny Quow to Jarrin Solomon to Jereem Richards to Deon Lendore.
I think this squad should have the leg speed to win our 4x4 Heat in Rio and secure us a good lane for the Final especially if Renny Quow, Jarrin Solomon and Deon Lendore can all get themselves into sub-45 form by Rio and Jereem Richards can get himself into OG standard form which means lowering his 400m PB to 45.40 or better.
I hope our quarter-milers all read this post so that it is clear in their minds what is required of them form-wise by Rio if we plan to leave the Olympics with a potential 4x400m gold medal and so create history for a T&T Relay team.
The potential is there & our Men's 4x400m relay squad could be our best chance of winning a gold medal in Rio.
To maximize chances of our Men's 4x400m relay team winning gold in Rio we require:-Machel Cedenio in sub-44 form to be able to hang/hold-off the likes of Merritt and anchor us to gold
Lalonde Gordon in 44-low form to lead us off with a strong start ahead of most of the other teams
Deon Lendore back to his old self and in 44-mid form to maintain any lead we have over the pack on 3rd leg
Jarrin Solomon in sub-45 to ensure he can put us in a leading position after a strong lead off leg by Gordon
Renny Quow also in sub-45 to be a good alternate for Jarrin or anyone else in the final four in case of injury
Jereem Richards at least in 45.40 OG standard form so that he can deliver a strong 3rd leg in the 4x4 Heats to ensure our anchor man in the 4x4 Heats can secure 1st place and earn us a good lane for the 4x400m Final.
