HALF-TIME: Guatemala Women 1-0 Trinidad and Tobago
Despite completely dominating possession and creating several clear chances, Trinidad and Tobago went behind to Guatemala in the 17th minute on a combination of naiveté on the part of Karyn Forbes and bad officiating. Forbes thought that the ball went out of play, and immediately picked it up, only for the referee Margaret Domka to signal a penalty for handball. Replays showed that the ball did indeed cross the byline, but the referee never blew the whistle. Ana Lucia Martinez then calmly dispatched the penalty to give Guatemala the lead. Kennya Cordner and Mariah Shade were guilty of wasting very good chances.
