JCW/Quarters basketball camp graduates 30 youths

Participants of the JCW/The Quarters United and BTU basketball skills camp with their certificates of participation at the conclusion of the two-week basketball camp on August 14, at the Southern Indoor Sports Arena, Pleasantville, San Fernando.

The Quarters United and BTU basketball skills camp closed climax with a presentation of certification of participation to 30 youths on August 14th at the Southern Indoor Sports Arena, Pleasantville, San Fernando.

The closing ceremony was attended by parents and guardians of the participants after two weeks and being taught the basic fundamental skills of the sport. The attendees were treated to a skills display by the camp participants who were proud to show off their newly acquired skills. It was well appreciated.

The participants were presented with medals, certificates and tokens sponsored by the National Gas Company (NGC) Of T&T.

This ceremony was hosted by the camp co-ordinator Obadiah Asher, the former technical director of the National Basketball Federation of T&T, and whose message to future players of the sport was: “One can reach to great height once they give full effort. Your attitude determines your altitude”.

Parents spoke about the importance of the camp and thanked the coaches Owen De Couteau, Lima Kajue and the camp co-ordinator Asher for providing an opportunity for their children to participate in a sport which they enjoy. The parents also suggested that the camp become a permenant programme to teach youths to play the sport.

The Camp director announced that because of the request the programme will commence from this Saturday, from 1 pm at the Southern Regional Indoor Sport Arena Pleasantville.

Asher extended thanks to Control Technologies Limited, Columbus Communications of Trinidad Ltd, NGC, JCW Motors and Kirk Toney for their support in this venture and revealed that the project was an overwhelming success.
