Good to see Coach Williams have the boys training in preparation for October CFU finals  but ah hearing that some boys need transportation to practice and TTFA not helping.

All they need is a maxi to pick up the boys, if we can afford Latapy and Carrington for U17 we must be able to send a Maxi a couple times per week for these boys

Academy Players to Watch for 2016/2017

http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/academy-players-to-watch-for-2016-2017_aid39840

Josh Burnett (5/28/1999), Players Development Academy U18

Burnett was one of the standouts of the PDA team from the run to the national semifinals last season. The dribbling master plays for one of the best academies in the Development Academy and will be the focal point of the team. Last season, PDA was a springboard to the next level with James Murphy (Sheffield Wednesday) and Isaiah Young (Unattached) using the platform to go onto explore other options. Burnett seems like the most likely to follow in their footsteps.

Josh Burnett is a quality player.

Right now, I think the older brother Chaz is more of what we need upfront with the U20's

Trinidad and Tobago U-20 men off to Guyana for training camp
TTFA Media

A 20-man Trinidad and Tobago Under 20 team departs for Georgetown. Guyana today at 3:30pm for a seven-day training camp Guyana.

The team, under head coach Brian Williams will play two practice matches against the Guyana National Senior Team on Friday and Sunday at a venue to be determined.

These two games will serve as part of preparations for the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Final Round of World Cup qualification for the 2017 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Curacao next month.

T&T faces Cuba in their opening match of the Caribbean Football Union Final Round  on October 22nd in Curacao.

T&T, the CFU defending champions, are grouped  with previous runners up Haiti, Cuba and St Lucia in Group B which will be contested at the Ergilio Hato.

Following their opening game with Cuba, T&T then faces St Lucia on October 24th and Haiti on October 26th.

Group A comprises of hosts Curacao, Bermuda, St Kitts/Nevis and Antigua/Barbuda.

he top two teams will advance to the semi finals as well as gain automatic passage to the CONCACAF Final round which will be played in Costa Rica in February. The semi-finals will be played on October 28th and the final and third place match will take place on October 30th. The top five teams from the CFU Final round will advance to the CONCACAF stage.

Williams, sees the upcoming games against the Guyanese outfit as beneficial to the team’s current preparations, saying “It’s always good to have international warm up matches. We haven’t had international games since the last tournament and I think these two games will serve us well going into Curacao. We also have a couple more international outings coming up but these two games against the Guyana senior team will be a good test for us at this stage of our preparations.

“This camp will also be a good opportunity for us to re-focus because there have been a lot of distractions with players also focusing on their secondary schools and clubs. So now this will be good timing for them to concentrate on national duty and the tournament ahead,” Williams said.

Hmm happy for some type of preparation but not sure if Guyana (even if its their senior team) is quality preparation. I still expect the team to advance from the CFU round. Quality preparation must come before the Concacaf final round.

I propose a camp in South America or United States before the Concacaf final round against top youth teams that will challenge our youth team so they can leave the camp well tested and better ready for the top U-20 teams from Central and North America.

The overseas young men not included in this trip, hope their will be another trip in October for final 23 players. Will also need Hudson back from U17 duty.

Interesting new inclusions:

Chaz Burnett-good addition was part of last U17 can play up front or directly behind forwards
Keston Julien-good addition was part of last U17 can play anywhere along left side
Rondell Payne- do not know him
Hakim Baird-do not know him
Tyrell Emmanuel- heard fantastic things about him
Moses Jaikaran-do not know him

Not as easlily as we dismiss our own locals. I don't believe there is a single Tobago player on this squad and maybe there may be 1 or 2 on the U17.

For at least a decade now not a single pro-league executive has been able to figure out what makes the ssfl and minor so attractive. At this point Barrackpore FC vs Penal All Stars pulling more crowd that Central FC vs WConn

Doh mind Tobago28. He jes wish Tobago players had de opportunity to "cut style" on the NT instead of trying to "get the attention of" the NT.

Seems like either the Wired word choice is incorrect and/or there is an unreported element of the story.

U-20 Soca Warriors edge Alpha United

U-20 Soca Warriors edge Alpha United
By Franklin Wilson (Kaieteur News)

Competing in their first practice match of their 10-day Training Camp in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-20 Soca Warriors edged Guyana’s #2 Club side Alpha United 2-1 at the Leonora Track and Field Football Field, yesterday afternoon.

The well manicured and lush green field which is expected to be used for Guyana’s Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup 2016 clash against Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz on October 11 next, once the CFU inspection team gives the thumps up, saw the young Soca side displaying a solid game from start to finish, to notch up the win.

The Trinis took the lead from a well placed shot in the 8th minute off the boot of their Captain, Jabari Mitchell. Alpha United, playing in their second pre-season warm up match following a 4-4 draw with the Guyana Defence Force still displayed signs of ring rust as the visitors moved the ball around well in keeping possession.

As the match progressed and subs were made Alpha United enjoyed a few good moments with the likes of Pernell Schultz and veteran Anthony Abrams on the pitch. The local side was able to, on the end of a good run of play, notch in the equalizer in the 77th minute when Daniel Wilson’s shot to goal eased into the back of the nets off the inner side of the left upright.

The young Trinidadians never let up and kept taking the fight to Alpha which brought the go ahead goal once again with two minutes to full time. Doing the honours of netting the winner was Moses Jaikeran in the 88th minute.

T&T Head Coach Brian Williams speaking with Kaieteur Sport after the match said that it was a decent game for his charges, while noting that they have been struggling to get decent warm up matches back in the Twin Island Republic which prompted the 10-camp in Guyana.

”What I saw in the game was the enthusiasm of all the players; they continue to fight through the entire 90 minutes. We are looking forward to continue a successful training camp here in Guyana, Sunday we play another game, tomorrow (today) we are back out to training but again I must say I was pleased with the performance of the team this afternoon.”

Alpha United’s Head Coach Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover in summing up his side’s performance stated that they have improved since the 4-4 draw with the Army as they have been working on extensively on defensive organization.

”I think we were very horrible against the Army, we conceded four goals but today (yesterday) despite not playing 100% to what we would expect we still saw some improvements defensively on a collective scale.”

Dover noted that the young T&T side is a fit unit that moved the ball well and have a good system of play where the forward line players were coming into the pocket and looking for the ball while making some good plays and shooting to target.

”We saw an intention to score goals and dominate us but we stood a bit resolute. We were not that focused on the scoreline but much more on how we played collectively.”

The young Warriors are preparing for the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 Finals to be hosted in Curacao from October 21 – 30, next. Coach Williams informed that he would be announcing his final 23-man team at the end of this training camp and on their return home some overseas based players will be joining them.

They will leave in early October for two more warm-up matches in Panama before making their way to Curacao.

Their final match is set for tomorrow at the same venue from 19:00hrs when they will face an Elite-All-Star side.

Change in venue is also helpful. A trip abroad to Guyana may not be ideal to some of us. But it better than nothing. Also some don't like Shabazz input. This guy is part of the football fraternity, and there is not much we can do about. If DJW want him as some advisor, then that is his call. I know why there is hostility towards Shabazz. But allyuh should have gotten rid of the privy council.

Panama is normally a quality opposition though they didn't qualify, not sure who they playing though.

Also, its logistics as they have to use Copa Airlines from Panama to Curacao. I do not think direct flights from POS to CUR

T&T U-20S DEFEAT ALPHA UNITED 2-1 IN OPENING PRACTICE MATCH

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 Men’s team secured their first win of a seven-day training camp in Guyana when they defeated club side Alpha United 2-1 on Friday evening.

Goals by captain Jabari Mitchell and Moses Jaikeran did the job for the Brian Williams-coached team which is preparing for the Caribbean Football Union Under 20 Final Round in Curacao next month.

Williams, speaking after the win, expressed some level of satisfaction with the way the team performed, clearing up the issue of T&T’s opponents during the training camp.

“We played against Alpha, one of the top clubs in Guyana. There was an adjustment when we reached here because initially we were supposed to play the national teams. But what was explained to us by Jamaal Shabazz when we arrived here is that he recently selected a pool of national players to prepare for the Caribbean Cup and right now they are into their preparations. So there was an arrangement where we would play the Alpha team which has a few national players and then play against an Elite All Star team on Sunday which is also made up of several of their local-based national players,” Williams told TTFA Media.

On the match itself, William added : “I was really pleases with the way our boys handle the match. It was very important for us to come here and play as it helped us as a team to refocus on the task at hand. Because of the distraction of secondary schools football and the club football back home, we were not getting the chance to really have proper training sessions involving all of the players and that was becoming a big concern for me as we get closer to the tournament.

“But coming here has allowed us to regroup and refocus and I am happy about that. We came in Wednesday and we had two good training sessions and the boys have been very positive so far. They put on a strong performance in the match which I felt was important for us.”

Williams also commented on the absence of players Tyrell “Pappy” Emmanuel and Quinn Rodney on Wednesday, the day the team departed for Georgetown.
“I am very disappointed about this. We selected twenty players which I confirmed earlier this week. Every player was spoken to and informed about the travel arrangements. Quinn Rodney did not show up at the airport. I spoke to his mother and his school teacher. But I understand the mother said afterwards that she had no money to send with her son on the tour which I could not understand because we were covering all expenses,” Williams said.

“And then ‘Pappy’ called me when I was on my way to the airport and said that his mother could not find his passport and due to his medical status with him still having some chest pains, he cannot make the trip. I asked him if he was playing in the evening for Shiva Boys and his response was no coach I am not playing. But I found out after that he scored for Shiva Boys later that day.

“Definitely these two players will not be eligible for selection for the CFU Final Round . I think this is a total disrespect to the national team by not turning up after being selected with travel and hotel arrangements already confirmed. I will not be including them in the selection for the Final round in Curacao. These two players have dropped themselves. I have already spoken to the TTFA President David John-Williams and technical director Muhammad Isa about this,” Williams stated.

The T&T U-20 head coach  will announce his final 23-man squad for the CFU Finals on Tuesday following the end of the training camp in Guyana. He added that players selected will not be allowed to play in the Secondary Schools League during the two-week period before the team departs T&T.

“The players selected in the final squad will not be allowed to play in the Secondary Schools League during the two-week period before we leave the country because are also scheduled to head to Panama shortly after for another training camp before arriving in Curacao for the tournament,” Williams said.

why panama ... they did not even qualify out of the Central American zone

Panama is normally a quality opposition though they didn't qualify, not sure who they playing though.

Also, its logistics as they have to use Copa Airlines from Panama to Curacao. I do not think direct flights from POS to CUR

Fully agree. This makes sense. Panama's U20s were almost universally expected to move on, but had a tough tournament.

They lost out on a point to Guatemala courtesy a penalty kick. Ended up on par, sharing the points with Honduras also courtesy a penalty suffered.

Playing Panama is a solid, good decision.

Would be interesting to hear Rodney and Pappy's side of the story

Certainly the optics in Pappy's case aren't good

It looks worst since their school teammate and goalkeeper went to the camp.

T&T U-20s complete Guyana camp and head to Panama next before CFU Finals
TTFA Media

Trinidad and Tobago’s Men’s Under 20 National Team lost their final training match of their seven-day training camp in Guyana on Sunday, going down 1-0 to a Guyanese Elite All Star team at the Leonora Stadium. The Guyanese outfit coached by Jamaal Shabazz, comprised of several home-based Guyana national team players currently involved in preparations for upcoming Caribbean Cup qualification.

Guyanese national team midfielder Vurlon Mills notched the game’s only goal in the 7th minute when the ball came off his shoulder on its way into the net following an incoming cross.

The game followed a 2-0 win for T&T’s U20s against Alpha United on Friday.

The team returns home today and will head for a training camp in Panama on October 7th prior to their arrival in Curacao for the Caribbean Football Union Final Round of qualification towards the CONCACAF Finals in Costa Rica next year.

The team will undergo intense preparations in Panama City at a stadium equipped with artificial playing surface as the venue in Curacao will consist of a similar outfield.

Williams spoke of the team’s narrow loss on Sunday as well as the value of the upcoming camp in Panama City.

“It was a very pleasing performance for me in this final game against the Guyanese Elite team. The players, even after conceding an early goal, showed a lot of enthusiasm and we were very organised with a lot of ball possession for large parts of the match. We also created a few decent chances on goal and overall I was satisfied with the way we handled the match. The two games served us well at this stage,” Williams told TTFA Media.

In anticipation of the upcoming Panama trip, Williams continued: “This definitely will be the most important part of our build up. It will allow us more time together as a team and we will be away from any distractions at home which will allow the coaching staff to have the players for a lengthy period and where the concentration levels will be high heading into the tournament in Curacao.

“We will announce the final squad at the end of the month and from that period no player will be allowed to play for the Secondary Schools or their clubs before we leave for Panama and then head to Curacao for the tournament. The local players will be allowed to play for the schools for this week until the end of the month and then we are asking them to refrain from taking part in any matches between month-end and the team’s departure for Panama,” Williams added.

“I think the players who are serious about representing the country understand the importance of this decision and they are committed to the cause and the ambitions we have as a country to make strides in world football,” he added.

“The Panama tour is something we are grateful for and we want to say thank you to the TTFA for organising it and ensuring also that all our overseas-based players are in the country in the first week of October before we head off to Panama.”

A schedule of matches to take place during the training camp in Panama will be announced in due course.

The top two teams will advance to the semi finals as well as gain automatic passage to the CONCACAF Final round which will be played in Costa Rica in February. The semi-finals will be played on October 28th and the final and third place match will take place on October 30th. The top five teams from the CFU Final round will advance to the CONCACAF stage.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.
