Nice list Tallman, Kerwyn Jemmott (Malick) should be in the 90's and not 80's.

I could make an argument for Hector Sam (QRC) in the 90's as well. I also heard Collin Rock (CIC) was an impact player for the league in the 80's.

Neil Williams (CIC) is listed as a 1980s player. This has to be a different Neil Williams from the one who played for Saints in the 70s with Leiba. Also Danny Williams  and Peter Mitchell from Sando Tech. were pretty good. Also, can't leave out my school mate, Mike Grayson from QRC.

Malick in the 90s were exceptional.  Dwarika, Glasgow, Scotland, and the Westfields used to destroy.

Though Nixon went to Green Machine.

Sure did... and in the late 80s, not the 90s.  I know b/c I was there... unless he transferred after I left.

Sedley, Alvin are late 50s. I don,t know which school Steve Khan attended. I don't know what was the criteria for selecting these players. There will always be very outstanding players who will not make this list.

Just from a nineties perspective: no offence to Shawn David but I think it had bigger Malick legends like Marvin Gordon, Irasto Knights, Scotland, Westfields...

I think Kevin Jeffrey or Kester Cornwall could be there if Webb make it. And definitely Hector Sam. Maybe even Marco Elcock, didn't he break the record for most goals in a season?

Larry Loobie seemed to the best keeper in the league for umpteen years too moreso than some of the other keepers named who were big on the national stage but not on the schoolboy stage.

Fough was around Gally time, and there was a Duprey, who was pretty famous. never heard of Hayden. Thought was Roger Duprey. forward or mid field.

Had an opportunity to check out the event...thought it was a good initiative by the SSFL. Sports Minister was in attendance and made some brief comments, he stressed the importance of his SSFL football career  because it provided him with an opportunity to go abroad on scholarship. Highlight was Leroy Deleon being voted the best player in the league's history. Steven Hart was also in attendance along with many of the older icons in T&T football.

Sam, Montano win SSFL Players of the Year.
T&T Newsday Reports.

Brent Sam (San Juan North) and Ray-ann Montano (Fyzabad Secondary) were crowned 2015 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Male and Female Players of the Year at the Prize Distribution and 50th Anniversary Awards Function on Saturday at Naparima College.

Both players were also selected to the league’s respective All-Star Teams. Sam, a forward, was joined in the All-Star cast by talented schoolmate rivals such as Jared Dass, Shane Sandy, Isaiah Hudson (Naparima College) and Tyrell Emmauel (Shiva Boys) who were the Top Five Male Players of the Year.

Montano on the other hand, fought off top quality females such as Tamara Johnson, Kader Louison (Fyzabad Secondary), Jacel Forde (Bishop Anstey) and Aaliyah Charles (Scarborough Secondary) on her way to the trophy.

On hand to witness this year’s award ceremony and celebration of 50 years of SSFL existence were several dignitaries within the sport such as Minister of Sport Darryl Smith, who according to speakers, was the only Sport Minister to ever attend such a function. Joining him were former TT player and coach Everald ‘Gally’ Cummings, current senior men’s team coach Stephen Hart, current custodian Jan-Michael Williams, BG T&T communications manager Wendell Constantine, and veteran players of the SSFL.

Capturing the biggest prize of the past half-century was famed St Benedict’s striker, Leroy De Leon, who was adjudged the best “Player of the 50 Years”.

In delivering the feature address, Minister Smith lauded the recent achievements of the nation’s upcoming players and also reminisced on his former SSFL stints at both Fatima and St Mary’s College.

Smith admitted that the SSFL may have played one of the most integral roles in him becoming a Government Minister.

“This league is the reason why I am standing here today,” he stated.

“I remember playing in the SSFL during its 25th anniversary. We had a great year in 1991 I believe and I was able to get a scholarship to go to New York to play. This league created so many opportunities for me and I intend to bridge the gap between the earlier years and now.” He called on potential sponsors to jump on board with SSFL in an effort to expand the tournament and maintain a high level of competition.

Imagine Lawrence Rondon, Kenny Joseph, Gally Cummings, Jan Steadman, Warren Archibald, Leroy Deleon, Bobby Sookram were all school boys that represented their Senior National Team while still in High School.

The first two men didn't make the list..

I don't even think Ivan Sampson was in Benedict's in 1990...

Signal Hill win so much championship and only one man from Tobago get award...at least they could have given something to Colvin Hutchison..

Naps win champshionships in the 70's ...not one outstanding player for the period?...at least they could have given something to Kern Dass...

Very true.

88 and 89 era, Benedicts and Pres was tops.

But Signall Hill win everything.

I feel Pres and Benedicts was a better team overally but Signall Hill had Yorke who was just to good, they were a one man team.
