Not really.. if u followed Quow's openers for the past 3 years he never opens fast he peaks near trials.. Last year he opened with 46.8 in shanghai where he finished 7th...     a week b4 trials at adidas grand prix he ran 45.6. Then at trials he ran 44.9 then a week after ran 44.7 in Hungary. Quow peaks at the right time.

These ladies are not ramping! Wow 3 running 10.8x basic... It isn't what you run in May that counts though but still how much faster can they go...it's scary. I'm glad Mich finished healthy. Onwards and upwards the drive phase holding her back.

Elaine Thompson (JAM) 10.71, English Gardner (USA) 10.85, Michelle-Lee Ahye 10.98 in the women's 100m (+2.4m/s wind) ‪#‎JamaicaInvite‬

With times adjusted for basic 0.0m/s wind speed, we are looking at:-
Elaine Thompson (JAM) 10.84, English Gardner (USA) 10.98, Michelle-Lee Ahye 11.12 in the women's 100m (+0.0m/s wind) ‪#‎JamaicaInvite‬

MLA came out of her drive phase too quickly thus making it more difficult to get to her top end speed like ET did. MLA has some work to do on her drive phase, top end speed and speed endurance if she wants to be in a position to beat the likes of Bowie, Schippers, Thompson and SAFP by Rio. Any female who wants to medal in 100m in Rio will need to be ready to run 10.7x basic or better.

I think MLA has top end speed for days the fact that she can maintain 23mph on a treadmill for 9/10s is evidence of that, so the issue isn't necessarily that but like you said partly her speed edurance/maintenance (a bigger issue in the 200m for both her and KAB), technique and race execution/transitions between phases. I'm no expert but from consistent observation you can see little things.

When you don't have efficient technique I think it's easier for things to go wrong if you don't execute your race perfectly. Esp when up against ladies who have booming starts, acceleration and speed endurance to match. I know different athletes have different training programs etc and it is early on in the season but being .2s behind Et, DS and TB right now isn't the best of situations to be in. Franno is a mastermind and Elaine is coachable so I know she can only get better from here so can you imagine the times she will be running in Rio? SafP will be ready, DS will be stronger as will Tori.

One major difference between those girls and MLA is their technique. Their arms aren't flailing from side to side. They have great stride length and turnover to match and they are relaxed, it's not as choppy. Even if they don't start well (DS, TB) their technique will make it easier for them to come back into a race. Of course there are other factors such as their height etc but you get my drift.

Im not sure if her present coach can get these things out of her. The season is young so we will see. I would like to see them (MLA, KAB) run 10.8 outside of Trinidad/Clermont/Eugene but that's secondary, winning a medal or making the final is the goal. I will always be rooting for MLA and our athletes rain or shine.

Bledman makes his season debut this Saturday in Germany at the Adidas HQ. Will be up again Blake, Weir and clubmate Ashmeade. Pretty stern test for an opener.

Keston Bledman opened his season 2 weeks ago in Clermont where he ran 10.28 seconds (1.7) in the heats at the Pure Athletics Meet.  He didn't run the finals.

MLA placed 2nd in 11.07 today in the adidas Boost Athletics Meeting 2016 100m dash in Germany.

See race video below. Official results here: http://static.sportresult.com/federations/iaaf/liveResults/index.html?namespace=AT_PROD_2&lng=de&event=Herzogenaurach2016#baseFrame#outputs/results/iaaf/atResults/js/mappings/discipline/disciplineRoot#DisciplineInit#Herzogenaurach2016_TIMING_ATW001101_json##main-frame_content#outputs/results/iaaf/atResults/js/mappings/discipline/run#RunSubFrame#Herzogenaurach2016_TIMING_ATW001101_json

Tori Bowie is dominating the early stages of the W100m on the global scene as she storms to 10.91 (1.2) at the Adidas BOOST! Michelle-Lee Ahye comes second in 11.07 (SB) and Desiree Henry gets third in 11.23 ahead of Tatjana Pinto in 11.29.

A strong run for Yohan Blake in 10.03 to finish well ahead of Warren Weir in 10.20 in the men's main 100m heat in Germany (1.1) at the same adidas Boost Athletics Meeting 2016 100m dash in Germany. Bledman was 3rd in the race in 10.27. Lets hope Bledman can have an injury free season this year.

Kelly-Ann Baptist ran SBs in the 100m and 200m today in Clermont Florida.
Kai Selvon also ran a SB of 23.22 in the 200m at the same meet.

Looks like the Trinis are not having a good meet in Guadeloupe. I hope Thompson has a plan.

I dont think he is. I think he has more left in the tank and even if he doesnt make the individual final if he can peak around 9.9/10 that would be a crucial relay leg.

Deon is slowly rounding into form as is KAB. She dropped from 23.50 at Texas relays to 22.73 which is good but it is Clermont. Let's see what she does on the main circuit.

MLA improving too which is nice

I'm very concerned about our relay boys. We are halfway into May and none of them has run under 10.2. Still no sign of Burns, Brown or Callendar. These guys are supposed to run at the Grand games.. So I hope they come out with some good times at HCS. France, England, Canada and Japan are looking at us and feeling good about snatching a 4x100 medal come Rio.

Richard's race from Guadeloupe. Can't find a bright spot in that run. No phase looked good.  :-[ :-[

A "GRAND shame". These guys had a lot of good athletes confirmed. Many turned down other opportunities to run, jump and throw elsewhere.

The word out is that the organizers needed support (I'm sure financial) from other entities.

Guadeloupe and Cayman organizing meets, we cant organize anything and we have access to more resources.. A "grand shame".

The Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Grand Games has spoken for the first time about the cancellation of the Track and Field Invitational which was supposed to happen tomorrow, Saturday May 21st.
Regina John cites failure to secure one crucial piece of authorisation as the main reason for the cancellation of the Games. She also lamented the lack of support she and her team experienced. An extended version of that interview with Ms. John will be aired right here on CTV at noon tomorrow.

In an exclusive interview with C News Live, CEO of TT Grand Games Regina John attributes the cancellation of the games to the untimely filing of paper work and negativity.
