Hodge looking to stay on Warriors first team.
By Shaun Fuentes (Guardian).

Newly called up senior team defender Tristan Hodge turned down a scholarship opportunity to play football in the United States in order to play professionally here. That decision he says, was based on the desire to make the national team. And playing for DirecTV Connection was the stepping stone, the player said.

Hodge made his debut against Grenada in March and is in the T&T squad for the three upcoming friendlies with Peru, Uruguay and China.

“My dad has been the one to always pushed me and from a young age I wanted to make the national team. I gave up the chance to play at College level in the United States because I wanted to make the national team and I felt that playing in the Pro League would help me get there faster,” Hodge said.

“I am happy I made the decision because now I am here. At W Connection they pushed me a lot and my time with the club helped my gave to develop and I got the opportunity to play and be seen by the coaches. I hope I can play in the upcoming matches because these are big games for us and it can do great things for our game and our development,” Hodge said.

Triston Hodge to go on loan to Toronto FC II
W-Connection Media

DIRECTV WConnection Center Back Triston Hodge has been added to the list of recent transfers completed by the club during the mid-year transfer window. Hodge who will soon join Toronto FC II of the USL for the remainder of their season on loan agreed to terms earlier this week. Hodge will spend the next few months with his focus on securing a more long term deal and possible move to their MLS first team.

On his move Hodge commented…
“It’s an elated feeling and also a very important stepping stone for me in my career. I hope to grasp at this opportunity and give it my all when I get the first chance to play and make it count so that I can be a regular starter on the team and achieve much more in my career. My intention is to make my input to the team beneficial in every aspect.”

On the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in September, Hodge commented…
“I think that the World Cup Qualifiers in September is an important opportunity for us as a country to show that we are capable of playing at the highest level and could compete with those teams. I’ve played three friendlies for the National Team and it’s a joy to represent my country.  I hope to be able to represent the team again in the upcoming games, but if not all I could do is work harder and wait my turn and wish the tem all the best.”

Hodge will be added to the roster upon receipt of his work permit and visa. Head Coach Jason Bent commented that Hodge’s presence would add depth to their roster and help solidify their defensive group.

Trinidad and Tobago and W-Connection defender Triston Hodge heads to Costa Rican Primera División club C.S. Cartaginés for a 10-day trial. Last week, defender Triston Hodge became the first player to be cut by T&T new head coach Tom Saintfiet after he allegedly missed one training session, turning up late for camp and failed to win over the new coach with his demeanour.

Has the pending Colorado opportunity played a role in TH's non-participation in the US match? I can see how it would.

Hartford Athletic add Triston Hodge to back line
hartfordathletic.com

Hartford Athletic have signed defender Triston Hodge ahead of the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval. Hodge joins Robin Lapert, Tulu, Ash Apollon, and Niall Logue as defenders on the 2023 roster to date.

“I’m grateful to be given this opportunity with Hartford,” said Hodge. “I can feel the excitement around this team with Tab Ramos at the helm, and I can’t wait to begin playing under him and developing chemistry with my teammates. 2023 is going to be a great year for Hartford.”

Hodge comes to Hartford after spending the last two seasons with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. In 2022, he was a mainstay as a left back in the Colorado back line that totaled 10 clean sheets on the season and helped their club reach a Western Conference Final appearance. Across 26 appearances and 21 starts, Hodge made 41 clearances, 23 interceptions, and a team-leading 40 tackles won.

“Triston is a great presence to add to our back line,” said Head Coach Tab Ramos. “He is a technically talented defender who gets into the attack quickly, which fits perfectly into our style of play.”

Hodge was acquired by Colorado in 2021 on permanent transfer from W Connection F.C., a six-time champion of the TT Pro League, the top league in Trinidad & Tobago. He made his USL Championship debut with Toronto II in 2016, and spent two seasons with Memphis 901 FC in 2019 and 2020.

“Triston brings incredible experience and versatility to our roster,” said Technical Director Ray Reid. “He has experience playing in important matches at the Senior International level with Trinidad and Tobago, and was a leader of one of the league’s best defenses last year in Colorado. We expect Triston will raise the level of our defending even further next season.”

The 28 year old Trinidadian has five caps for the Trinidad & Tobago National Team, including his appearance in the Soca Warriors’ 2-1 win over the United States in the World Cup qualifiers in 2017.

Hartford Athletic has signed the following players for the 2023 season:

Forwards: Antoine Hoppenot, Jeciel Cedeño, Kyle Edwards, Prince Saydee

Midfielders: Andre Lewis,Conor McGlynn,Danny Barrera, Andre Lewis, Kembo Kibato

Defenders: Robin Lapert, Tulu, Ash Apollon, Niall Logue, Triston Hodge

More player announcements will be announced in the coming weeks.

Defender Triston Hodge returns to Hartford for 2024
hartfordathletic.com

Hartford Athletic defender Triston Hodge will return to Hartford for the 2024 season.

“I’m happy to be back in Hartford and to be a part of this competitive defensive unit,” said Hodge. “Through the first few weeks of preseason, Coach Burke has really pushed us and set a high standard for our team. I am excited to see us continue to improve and get closer as a group as we push to get this club back to the playoffs.”

Hodge returns to Hartford after a quality 2023 season with the Green and Blue. He was one of the team’s most reliable defenders across 24 appearances, winning 28 tackles, 121 duels, and swiping 26 interceptions. The 29 year old played for Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke in 2020 and 2021 with Colorado Springs, making 19 appearances and helping the Switchbacks to a playoff berth.

“Triston is a great defensive presence with impressive experience both in the USL and internationally,” said Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke. “He is a technically sound defender, gets into the attack quickly, and will be a veteran presence in our back line.”

The 29 year old Trinidadian has nine caps for the Trinidad & Tobago National Team, most recently competing in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup for his country. In 2017, Hodge played in the Soca Warriors’ 2-1 win over the United States in the World Cup qualifiers.
