Soca is slowly becoming all year round and no longer seasonal. What is funny iz if one is still a seasonal follower of the genre he will think some of the songs that he is hearing for the first time on radio for Carnival season starting in November/December were just released when that is far from the truth.

Thanks Sando. I like Soca being an all year thing. I really like the Groovy or non-Carnival Soca. Not to say I don't like the jam and wine Soca. Funny thing, I does ketch meh self moving to Justin Beiber "Sorry".

Yes, it has the crossover effect. I read where some people saying that it is nothing original. That he copy Justin Beiber.  >:( ???. So what if he "copying". We all know who really doing the copying.

Yes Voice is doing the right thing. If we don't do this to correctly brand and market this style as soca and educate the wider music market that Justin Beiber "Sorry" track is based on a soca or groovy soca style from Trinidad & Tobago then the rest of the world will take our music and run with it as just a new style of R&B and we here in T&T will not get any credit or recognition for this style of music as being soca music pioneered by us.

I have already heard some Jamaicans claiming that Justin Beiber's track is a rip off of their dancehall music when it is more accurately a rip off of T&T's soca music.
A similar thing happened when Kevin Lyttle's "Turn Me On" became an international hit. It was marketed by some as a dancehall or R&b track rather than a soca track which is what it more accurately is.

These guys running things right now. Let's see what happens in next couple months. Kernal has a nice rhythm going dey. It would be nice to here a steelband try that for Panorama.  Benjai has nice one also. And in this song he says he is ah Warrior, and his chorus girls followed with "ah Soca Warrior". So he go get special tips from me for that. Terron on the Benjai rhythm with "calling me"  is funny.

Kernal Roberts, Benjai, Marvay, Voice,Shall marshal, Stadic, Rupee, Machel, Terron.
