J Richards will probably make it to the WC finals but he would not be a medal contender he is the only Trinidadian to make the time for the 200 or the 400 for the WC.

D Williams became T&T 1st female 400m runner to qualify for a WC or a Olympics she would probably break the NR this year.

R Walters also qualify for the WC in the 110m hurdles.

All those T&T athletes (Jereen Richards, Domonique Williams & Ruebin Walters who each ran a new PB this weekend) don't officially qualify for the World Championships in London unless/until they take part in the Senior Open Champs in T&T at the end of June and win or place in the top 3 in the final of their event.

But well done to all those T&T athletes for good performances this weekend and all moving up the 2017 IAAF World Top Lists in their events. Senior Open Champs in T&T at the end of June should be entertaining.

It will be interesting to see if Aleena Brooks who recently ran a new PB of 2:03.09 in the 800m can attain the 2017 IAAF World Championships Qualifying Standard of 2:01.00 for Women 800m. Brooks needs to shave 2.09 seconds off of her new 800m PB to achieve the 2017 IAAF World Championships Qualifying Standard for Women 800m and that time would also move her up into the top 20 in the IAAF Top List at 800m for 2017.
It will be a long shot for A Brooks to run 2:01.00 that's a big jump.

Nothing is impossible and that is the goal! Brooks just needs to be in the right hands from a coaching prespective and to regularly run against world class competition.

PS:
Some folks here were narrow-minded enough to refer to Brooks PB performance last weekend in Jamaica as mediocre because she placed 4th and not in a top 3 podium position.

I hope for the best for Brooks. But that is a big leap to make within 2 months.

Yes I am the narrow minded one. And yes it was mediocre. But has some promise.

Her effort might have been mediocre to you but I am sure it was not to Aleena Brooks and her coach. She PR-ed for goodness sake!

Some folks here need to stop the ego tripping and lack of appreciation for our T&T athletes when they give of their best and run a new PR and should be making us all proud of their efforts and improvement.
Its really sad how some of us place ego in front of logic as if they can do better themselves if they were in the same circumstances.

I think both you guys are making valid points but with the CAC games being canceled she probably would not get another chance again unless the NAA bring down a top 800m runner so she can try an keep up with them.

I am proud of her getting that sub 52 mark it has been coming and she can only get better once she is injury free so I pray she remains healthy. She is on the way to becoming our first elite female 400m specialist and that is great seeing as the men have been doing it for so long.

We in the month of June, not much for T&T track & field fans to cheer for the season so far

Most of our top athletes have not had any big impact. at least not yet

Was just about to post that. KAB is rounding into form and pretty nice considering MLA is in the mix with top performers bar Elaine, Tori, Marie Ta Lou and Dafne.

They should complete the list for the final. Others being, Akinosun, Ahoure and Campbell Brown competing for the other spots.

Steady improvement from Cedenio. 46.3x about 3 weeks ago. He's supposed to run at Bolt's farewell meet this weekend coming. Stiffer competition there should pull him down into the low 45's

The good thing about that race is that Kelly Ann had a bad race all that movement not running in a straight line. It could of been under 11 sec

I believe KAB is in sub-11 shape. That fabricated street track is not a naturally fast track to run on.
Barring injury she will definitely go sub-11 at Senior Champs later this month.

Rome Diamond League

Women´s 100m
Wind: +0.5 m/s
1 SCHIPPERS Dafne NED 10.99
2 TA LOU Marie-Josee CIV 11.03
3 AHYE Michelle-Lee TTO 11.07
4 BARTOLETTA Tianna USA 11.26
5 WILLIAMS Christania 11.32
6 HENRY Desiree GBR 11.32
7 LÜCKENKEMPER Gina GER 11.39
8 KAMBUNDJI Mujinga SUI 11.40
9 SIRAGUSA Irene ITA 11.70

I´d say that puts KAB in the mix for a medal along with Dafne and Ta lou judging by how close MLA was to them. KAB beat her on Sunday by 0.05 so decent stuff. We will see how she runs in Jamaica on Saturday.

Men´s Javelin
1 RÖHLER Thomas GER 90.06
2 VETTER Johannes GER 88.15
3 WALCOTT Keshorn TTO 86.61
4 VADLEJCH Jakub 86.37
5 PITKÄMÄKI Tero FIN 83.84
6 KIRT Magnus EST 83.70
7 YEGO Julius KEN 82.19

As long as Keshorn remains injury free I think he can do some damage in London.

NCAA Champs semi-finals

Mens 110m hurdles
1 David KENDZIERA   JR   Illinois   13.39   Q   +1.4   1 (1)
2 Grant HOLLOWAY   FR   Florida   13.41   Q   +1.0   3 (1)
3 Ruebin WALTERS   JR   Alabama   13.43   Q   +2.5   2 (1)
4 Aaron MALLETT   SR   Iowa   13.44   Q   +1.0   3 (2)

Walters is through the final and starts as one of the favourites.

Mens 200m
1 Christopher BELCHER   SR   N. Carolina A&T   20.01   Q   +1.6   3 (1)
2 Jereem RICHARDS   JR   Alabama   20.04   Q   +1.6   1 (1)
3 Christian COLEMAN   JR   Tennessee   20.21   Q   +1.6   3 (2)
4 Nethaneel MITCHELL-BLAKE   SR   LSU   20.24   Q   +1.3   2 (1)

Christian Coleman definitely the favourite as he ran that 9.82 in the 100m but we will see how much he has left in the tank for the 200m. Our boy is most likely going to be in the top 3 just not sure which place.

Domonique Williams goes in heat 1 of the womens 400m semi-finals and hoping she can make the final and break that 51.83 NR. If she does both I will be extremely happy. Placing top 3 would be icing on the cake.

Nice finishing by Lalonde Gordon and a new SB but he is yet to go sub-45 this season just like Machel Cedenio. If Machel Cedenio had executed his trademark kick-finish (that we all know him for) down the home straight he would have won this race as he was in 2nd place as the runners came into the home straight.
Its possible that Machel is short of long distance condition training this season and also needs to work on getting his back his trademark sprint kick down the home straight.

It will be interesting to see if Machel can hold on to his National 400m title at the Senior Open Champs in 2 weeks time as I believe he is not in the same top shape as he was around this time last year. He could also be a bit race rusty as he opened his season pretty late and with a rather slow time.

On a related note, Jamaica has definitely got a stronger Men's 4x4 team than T&T this season as Demish Gaye was altready sub-45 before today and lowered his PB to become the 2nd fastest Jamaican quarter-miler this season. At this rate JA might be a strong threat to the USA for the gold medal in the M 4x4 at Worlds Champs in London.

T&T will struggle to medal in the M 4x4 in London if we don't have at least 3 to 4 quarter-milers in reliable sub-45 shape by the end of June.

Women's 100m at the 2017 Gyulai István Memorial in Hungry

Michelle-Lee Ahye did not finish her 100m race at the Gyulai István Memorial this evening even after getting a 2nd chance to race after she false started.
For some reason MLA seemed to be distracted and lacked the required concentration for this race. Lets hope she did not get injured and will be able to concentrate properly for her next race! :-(

Men's 400m at the 2017 Gyulai István Memorial in Hungry

Machel Cedenio and Renny Quow place 3rd and 5th respectfully in their first 400m race in Europe following the 2017 T&T Senior Open Championships.
I believe Renny is hoping to run the World Champs 400m standard of 45.50 or faster before 24th July which will allow him to participate in the individual 400m in London in addition to being part of TTO Men's 4x400m Relay squad.

Steven Gardiner is definitely looking like a hot favourite to make it to the 400m Final in London and fight for a medal. If I am correct I believe Steven and Machel are both in the same training camp so Machel should know what he needs to do to beat Steven in London and also fight for a medal..

How did Michelle beat that? She looks solid. If she runs like that, she will be in the WC final.
