So with Patrice pulling out of Soca Monarch, this just make this so call competitive event even weaker this year. This is why I continue to not rate this Soca Monarch ting
Over the years, we see Big stars like Machel, Bunji, Kerwin, Destra, Ultimate Rejects pulling out this event and now add Patrice Roberts to the list.
Patrice is probably pulling out of ISM because she is not the best live performer and needs to improve that aspect of career as an artist. I always find that she sounds like she is running out of breath most times when she performs live.
Bunji pulled out of ISM because he couldn't handled being beaten by Machel after MM reentered ISM in 2011.
Machel eventually pulled out of ISM after he proved the point between 2011 and 2015 that he is the undisputed Soca King and so has now decided again to concentrate on taking Soca to the global market.
Destra always beats herself in ISM even when she clearly has the most popular song like when she had "Lucy" and don't seem to be able to handle the competition environment so she finally accepted that fact and stopped competing.
UR are not into competitions and said so when they were formed after MX Prime joined them, its their policy. They almost didn't enter their song into the road march competition last year but finally gave in to public pressure.
Kerwin seems to be afraid of competing and not winning which is why Voice who used to jointly write songs with Kerwin has now surpassed Kerwin in ISM titles. Kerwin seems to have the same mindset as Kes that winning one Soca Monarch title is good enough for him as he does not like the negative environment generated between artists during ISM competitions.
Can you post a link officially confirming that the ISM is on this year as I am yet to hear this news?
Update: Ok, I just heard the official announcement from Peter Scoon the CEO of ISM on i95.5 FM that 2018 Soca Monarch is on.
