From what I could make out from the interviews, the coach is happy with Bartholomew. He has a good attitude and has progressed/improved a lot in the past 6 months. And they hope he continues to improve.

Bartholomew wins male supermodel show in Point Fortin

Male supermodel show big hit in Point Fortin
By Yolandra John (T&T Express)

They didn't have the money to pay for the women, but the cash-strapped Point Fortin Borough Corporation funded Wednesday night's male supermodel show.

And it turned out to be a big hit.

A professional footballer won the "On Point" show, beating six competitors at Festival Square.

Winner Matthew Bartholomew, of New Village, Point Fortin, plays with W Connection.

He showed of his football skills during the "charm me" segment.

"I had no talent other than football and when I was told that I could use my football skills on stage, I jumped to the opportunity," Bartholomew said.

However, comedian Rachel Price didn't make it easy on him.

Bartholomew had more than 200 women in the audience screaming when Price told him that every time he missed the ball, he had to take something off.

Bartholomew, 20, said he was shocked he won.

He only returned to Trinidad last January after playing professional football in Hungary and in Belgium.

The show was held as part of Point Fortin Borough Week festivities.

Organisers said the show was not a male pageant, but a competition to judge who could captivate women with their all round-persona.

Many want the show to be an annual event.

Shirley Cyrus said, "I left my husband at home to come and enjoy an evening of fun and excitement with my girlfriends and it paid off well."

Petula Anderson said,

"It was about time that someone came up with the idea of having this show, where women could come and look at the men on stage rather than the men going to a fashion show or a beauty pageant and look at women parade in their swimsuits."

A popular segment for the night was the "Boxers and Briefs" segment where the ladies in the audience had the opportunity to choose who wore either while they walked on the stage.

Bartholomew was named the Ultimate Charmer and he received a cheque for $10,000 and tickets for two to Barbados.

Second runner-up Terrence Johnson received $6,000, Third runner-up was Duran Price who received $4,000 while Lyndon Diaz received $1,000.

This event attracted three times the crowd as the Miss Point Fortin Borough pageant, which was funded by private sponsors.

Ex-T&T footballer gets covid19, knocks hospital treatment
By Joel Bailey (Newsday).

FORMER T&T footballer Matthew Bartholomew is recovering from covid19, according to a post on his Facebook page.

Bartholomew, who played for St Benedict’s College in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) as well as W Connection and Point Fortin Civic in the TT Pro League, had two international appearances for T&T – against Chile and Belize, in 2010.

On his Facebook post, on Sunday, the 31-year-old highlighted the treatment he received at both the Point Fortin Area hospital and the La Brea Health Centre.

“On September 2, I fell ill with fever, took some meds and, by the next day, the fever was gone but I was still light-headed and (I) lost taste and smell,” Bartholomew wrote. “So, I went to the hospital and explained by symptoms to get a professional opinion.

“While explaining to the female doctor my symptoms, a male doctor was shaking his head, as to say that it’s not covid19 and I don’t need to be tested.”

According to Bartholomew, “I was given panadol and piriton, then advised that I take one day sick leave.”

Bartholomew said that he was aware of “the symptoms to look out for”, so he sought a second opinion at the La Brea Health Centre.

“I was advised to quarantine while waiting on the results,” he said. “Lo and behold it came back positive!”

Bartholomew expressed disgust at his treatment at the Point Fortin Area hospital. “So, if I left the hospital that day with my one-day sick leave and went to work the next day, what would have been my position or the position of my co-workers and their families?”

He ended the post by saying, “I’m doing well (by the way), I have four more days left to quarantine.”

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
