Hackshaw, Garcia, Boatswain among 24-man T&T squad to face Grenada and Guyana in Couva.
ttproleague.com.

Trinidad and Tobago Men’s Senior Team will officially kick off FIFA World Cup 2022 preparations with back-to-back international friendlies against Caribbean rivals Grenada and Guyana on Nov. 11 and 14, respectively, at the Home of Football – Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), calling on the public to rally behind the national team’s efforts towards Qatar 2022 from the beginning of the campaign, has priced entry fee on two-for-one specials for the Grenada and Guyana friendlies.

Entry costs TT$100 (covered) and TT$50 (uncovered), but buy your ticket for the Grenada game and you automatically have entry for the Guyana game. Tickets will go on sale from Monday 6 Nov. at all NLCB outlets and children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.

“These games represent the start of a process envisioned by coach Lawrence -- supported by the TTFA -- and we want fans to be there from the beginning,” said TTFA president David John Williams, whose local governing body hopes to utilise all international windows to provide competition for the national team.

“Our mission begins with the Caribbean and we will take it step by step from there,” said head coach Dennis Lawrence, who announced a 24-man roster for the upcoming Grenada and Guyana internationals friendlies which kicks off from 6pm and 7:30pm, respectively.

Minnesota United star Kevin Molino, Kazakhstan-based defender Sheldon Bateau, who has been enjoying life at FC Kairat this season, and Costa Rica-based forward Jamille Boatswain are among 11 overseas-based pros to combine with local-based players for the friendlies.

“Obviously we want to continue where we left off versus Mexico and the United States and end the year on a good note as we look ahead to the future,” added Lawrence who will resume national team training on Nov. 6 for the first time since the Soca Warriors’ historic 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over the United States in Couva on October 10.

Khaleem Highland, who captained T&T in the last two games, has been excused due to club commitments in Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly FC.

Glad we playing some games, decent team but I feel players 29 and over like Kevon Villaroel shouldn]t really be on this team, now is de time to groom some younger players, especially left footed players and a number 10.

Noah Powder, Rundell Winchester, Duane Muckette, Shaquell Moore, Andre Fortune, Aikim Andrews, Keston Julien and Tyler David.

Even some of them SSFL youths like Kierron Mason, Oba Augustin, Quinn Rodney, Judah St Louis, Kyle Thomas and Che Benny.

Some U19 and exceptional U-17 should be on the team. We should be grooming some of the these guys for the 2018 CAC games, 2019 PanAm Games and the 2020 Olimpics. Which will lead into the 2022 WC. And we certainly  should be doing the same for the women without a doubt.

I agree.

However, this being the case, might as well have given Carlos the caps he wants to get to 100 and then say bye.  ::)

Molino, Garcia hopes high for T&T.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Minnesota United FC midfielder Kevin Molino, and Levi Garcia, who plays for Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar have expressed high hopes ahead of this country’s two international friendly matches against Grenada and Guyana on the 11th and 14th of this month at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Both players at a training session at the Hasely Crawford Stadium yesterday said they were happy to be part of coach Dennis Lawrence’s team that will attempt to conquer Caribbean football once again before it focuses on the Concacaf and FIFA World Cup.

Apart from their confidence, the players were also anticipating the emergence of young players in the upcoming international friendlies. ‘It’s an opportunity for the young players” Molino said, but Garcia who has just returned to full fitness, said he just wants to be back in the country’s starting eleven, staring with the two coming matches.

Both were joined by Point Fortin Civic FC goalkeeper Marvin Phillip, among other seniors in the squad. “It is a good mood in the camp everyone is jolly and we just want to go out there, work hard and finish the year off on a high,” Phillip said.

The trio also alluded to the match ups being instrumental in the players’ continued growth. The country will usher in a new era of football this week as it looks to re-establishing its long-relinquished claim as the powerhouse of the Caribbean. Beyond that, T&T will look toward qualifying for the Digicel Caribbean Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Phillip’s recall is due to the unavailability of USA based Gregory Ranjitsingh who was originally selected for the encounters but is now excused due to his club’s qualification for the United Soccer League Cup Finals.

In congratulating Ranjitsingh, coach Dennis Lawrence said, “We had this discussion with Greg when he was selected for the friendlies regarding his team’s end of season expectations, so we were prepared to make adjustments. We are all professionals and I am not going to prevent a player from such an opportunity at this stage.”

Shahdon Winchester, the Murcielagos FC striker in Mexico will also be unavailable for the Grenada match due to his club’s crucial clash with Atlante on Saturday. Tickets for the matches went on sale yesterday at all NLCB outlets at $100.00 for covered stands and $50.00 for uncovered. Children under 12 years enter free. Football fans have also been given the option to see both matches with the purchase of one ticket.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Hinkson highlights Grenada squad for T&T friendly
CONCACAF.com

Grenada named Thursday a 20-man roster for a friendly against host Trinidad & Tobago on Saturday at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva

Featured in the side is defender/midfielder Kennedy Hinkson, who plays in T&T for San Juan Jabloteh. The 31-year-old earned his first cap last month in a 5-0 loss to 2018 World Cup qualifier Panama.

Head coach Vin Blaine also called up local stars Irvin Smith and Rickson Phillip (both of Paradise International FC), as well as forward Shavon John-Brown, the top scorer for U.S. college side Alderson Broaddus University with six goals in the just completed season.

MIDFIELDERS: Shandon Baptiste, Tahj Joseph, Chad Mark, Alexander McQueen, Ricky Modeste, Irvin Smith

Young Warriors tangle with Grenada.
By Walter Alibey (Guardian).

The quest to reclaim dominance in regional football will begin this evening at 6pm when a new-look T&T Soca Warriors team will take on Grenada at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Balmain Couva.

Strangely T&T has not beaten the ‘Spice Men’ for the past 12 years, with the last two meetings between the teams ending in similar 2-2 draws in St George’s. Yesterday, the Grenadians who were scheduled to arrive in T&T for a pre-game training session, had to be placed on another flight due to protest action by the airline.

They are likely to arrive just in time to head straight on the pitch, where an anxious bunch of TT players, being led by captain Sheldon Bateau will await them. The central defender said because we have a young squad, it will be a difficult match for them.

He believes the Grenadians are ideal opponents in the country’s rebuilding stage since the Spice Men drew with the Warriors at home the last time the teams met. “Now we have them at home here, so we need to win this game. We are considered the big dogs in the Caribbean so Grenada will be coming 200 percent, but the guys will be ready to respond. We are just ready to give that good showing to the fans and build that confidence in them” Bateau explained.

Assistant coach Stern John said it will be an opportunity for the young lads to show themselves and get a taste of international football. According to John “We want to go out and give a good account of ourselves.

We want to play good football, football that we know we can play and what we have been playing for the past couple of months, and get a good result.”

T&T Football Association president David John-Williams scuffed at resistance to have Grenada as opponents, saying the Grenadians have kept us out of two Gold Cups in the past.

Meanwhile an Under-20 Women’s match between the T&T team and a Select XI, scheduled to be played at 4pm was cancelled to allow the field to be in the best condition for the TT/Grenada game.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

TTFA statement: Due to an industrial relations crisis with regional air carrier LIAT, the Grenada Senior Men's National Football Team was unable to arrive in Trinidad in time for its scheduled Friendly International versus Trinidad and Tobago carded for the Ato Boldon Stadium at 6 pm.
The match will now be played at 7:30 pm today at the same venue.

Those players not playing for WConnection.

Tristan Hodge in 2016 could not survive 5 games at Toronto FC II but he keeps getting called. Kevon Villareol is 30 years old in Pro League and you have 2 or 3 18/19 year old LWB playing at a much higher level than him but not getting called.

This is a total waste of time
