The RB missed the interception   ... 50/50 as far as I can see. But Cyrus was the culprit. His intensity was down and the opponent pounced on it while he was "daydreaming" or expecting Foncette to collect. But this is what practice games are all about. Schedule some more games against caribbean opponents. The only person from outside who should be invite should be the gk guy, Greg. The rest should be young locals. Now the local players, especially the young ones, if they really serious, should take it upon themselves to work on their stamina and some physical(weight room). Some when next they are called by DL, he would not have to bemoan that the locals eh ready yet.
if I had a dollar for every time Cyrus just stood there in the keepers way instead of looking for able bodies to mark I would be rich. does he even watch world class leagues to see how other defenders play with intensity? I’m telling you that Roman torres would have never stood there and stared but would have rush the player with the ball even throwing his body in the process trying to stop the ball from getting into the six yard box.

i remember John terry when stern John had a chance to score in the world cup with pure intensity doing All he can with an acrobatic scissor kick clearing the ball off the line, if that was any of our defenders that would have been goal long time. we really need a whole new back line goal keeper included, and Gonzales should have timed that ball better, that is inexcusable at this level, terribly inexcusable.

The HORRIFIC thing about the goal is this: the goalscorer makes the pass "out wide" and then runs all the way up the field to tap the ball in the net.

I would say ... it's too easy to say Cyrus is the culprit. If you're Cyrus, you're thinking the GK has that ball. He had more than enough reason to think that was Foncette's ball.

Aside from the error by Curtis Gonzales, there is a player who left work on the field. Nathaniel Garcia #20 could have and should have fixed #17's run. Watch the video again.

At the end of the day, it's a collective failure ... but individual players more than the easily recognizable scapegoats are also at fault. When Cyrus made his decision on how he was going to address the situation, there was no attacker around for miles. What a difference a fraction of a second makes.

I like the dialogue and the opinion's of posters on the goal thus far. That's true seeker #20 should've put in more of an effort to cover the goal scorer and make him have to 1) fight for space to get to the ball (not just stroll down the middle freely) or 2) change direction with his run. After Gonzales missed the ball it placed Cyrus between a rock and a hard place. He was probably thinking that if he go towards the player with the ball, he can make the pass behind him before he can close him down, split second decision. At the end of the day we made it too easy for them to score on that build up, we had more numbers on transition and they still executed, we need to tighten things up.

Commendable effort by young Soca Warriors.
By Alvin Corneal (Guardian).

T&T coach Dennis Lawrence have expressed his concerns that the local players he fielded on Tuesday night were not ready for this level, but I'm sure despite that he was satisfied with the results for which the game's only goal came in the 93rd minute of play during his team's encounter against the World Cup bound qualifier Panama.

It was not only because of the ninety minutes which the selected squad was based mainly on experienced players such as Daniel Cyrus, Curtis Gonzales, Triston Hodge, Alvin Jones and Marcus Joseph. Admittedly, it was easy to see that the Panamanians were starting without a number of their already proven players.

Regardless of the absence of the matured players, the game brought to the fore some exciting moves, especially in the first half.

Admittedly, both teams started to allow each other to play without challenge while in possession in their own portion of the field. The ploy allowed the clustering of players utilising thirty metres on either side of the centreline.

The results was that the possession of the ball changed hands regularly and the number of tough tackles were seen more often than a normal game.

The speed of the Panama was easily recognised as soon as they received the ball, their key attackers took the initiative by running at the Warriors and mixed in with some skills and quick passing. The response by the Cyrus, Gonzales, Jones and Hodge in defence was filled with some timely tackles and quick efforts of counter attacks.

The ball distribution of Cyrus and Gonzales down the field was effective in reaching behind the backs of the Panama defence, but the speed of Cordell Cato, Nathaniel Garcia and Joseph was insufficient to create goal scoring chances.

A similar attacking style was evident when Panama got its chance to move forward, except that they possessed some skilful players with much faster than average speed.

The second half showed us the shortage on physical condition of the home team and because of that keeper Adrian Foncette had a difficult time. Fortunately for the Warriors, the opponents were poor in their finishing, although they created goalscoring some six times in the game.

It was clear that Coach Lawrence decided to give some exposure to some young players out of the secondary school programme. Insufficient time on the field and possibly a more advanced group caused them to expose their lack of readiness for the international game.

Some may have thought that a few of the more experienced Pro League players may well have brought more out of the opposition.

However, there was no period of the match which exposed a huge difference between the two teams and Panama can well be made aware that their journey to Russia is still short of the organisation, the high percentage of passes and any vision of planned attacks which will create concern for the teams in Russia in two months time.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

What has Taryk Sampson done to merit inclusion?

With Lawrence, is not always about merit. Sometimes it looks as though he just want to check out people to see what dey have. For example, he just call up Dillon who is not really doing anything of note in Belgium. I believe he get call up because he young and he happened to be in T&T at this time, unfortunately because his mother recently passed away.

Tell him come Tobago and get Lashawn Roberts... I'll say no more!
