Orange County signs U.S. U-17 International Kobi Henry
Orange County SC Communications

Orange County SC is delighted to announce the signing of current U.S. U17 International, Kobi Henry. The 16-year-old, central defender joins the club from Inter Miami CF Academy.

“We are thrilled to add Kobi, a very talented and one of the best young players in his position in the US to our roster,” said OCSC President of Soccer Operations, Oliver Wyss. “Kobi has shown great maturity on and off the field and we are convinced that he has a great professional career in front of him. Adding another US Youth International to our club shows that we continue to strive to be at the forefront of player development in the US.”

The Florida native made 16 appearances in the Development Academy this past season for Inter Miami CF Academy, where his performances saw him receive Youth National Team recognition.

“Kobi is a very exciting and talented signing for our club,” said OCSC Head Coach, Braeden Cloutier. “My staff and I are looking forward to leading him through his development at Orange County.”

Henry was selected to compete in the UEFA Development Tournament for the U.S. U17’s held at St George’s Park, England in February of this year. Henry started in two of the three matches, against England and Denmark.

“Signing my first professional contract is a dream come true and I am excited to live what I’ve been working towards for so many years,” said Kobi Henry. “I am thrilled to meet my teammates and get to work on and off the field and continue to develop in a professional environment with the help of the amazing staff at Orange County.

“Orange County was extremely hospitable to me and my family. The entire staff ensured that we felt welcome ed to their club. I was impressed by the work ethic and passion that was displayed during my visit and I felt at home in Orange County.”

Henry becomes the 8th current Youth National Team player on the Orange County SC roster. Joining the likes of Francis Jacobs (U.S. U15’s) and Blake Malone (U.S. U20’s).

Per club policy, terms of player contracts with Orange County SC will not be released.

https://www.afc.co.uk/2021/07/19/defender-kieran-ngwenya-signs-new-deal/

Aberdeen FC confirms it has secured the long-term future of highly rated defender, Kieran Ngwenya, in a deal that will see him remain at Pittodrie until 2024.

The 18-year-old from Edinburgh made his Aberdeen debut in a league win over Ross County in December 2020 and has since made one more appearance for the first team.

In March 2021, Ngwenya moved on loan to Cove Rangers in Scottish League One, making seven appearances before the left-back made his international debut for Malawi in a friendly against Tanzania in June 2021.

Manager Stephen Glass believes there is much to come from Kieran and his desire to commit to Aberdeen supports the Club’s overarching strategy to be the best developer of young talent.

“Kieran is a player who has real potential, so I’m pleased he has chosen to commit himself to the Club.

“He now has an opportunity to build upon the appearances he made for the first team last season and put everything into his continued development.

“I look forward to working with him in the years ahead to help him fulfil his ambitions and establish his career with us.

Ilkeston Town signs promising young defender Stern Irvine
ilkestontownfc.co.uk

We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Stern Irvine.

Stern, 18, has spent the last two years coming through Notts County’s academy and following his release from the Magpies over the summer, has featured as a trialist for the Robins in some of their pre-season friendlies.

And boss Martin Carruthers says he’s delighted to have brought the youngster in.

He said: “It’s great to get Stern on board and he is a fantastic addition to our squad.

“He is a player with real potential who will have opportunities to progress to higher levels. Lots of professional clubs were interested in signing him and it’s a real coup for this club to get him and facilitate his development.”

Irvine is of good footballing stock, with his father being Stern John, who played in the Premier League and Championship for Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and Southampton among others, as well as being Trinidad & Tobago’s all-time leading goalscorer.

It's possible to get. It might be easier if one of the parents gets a TT passport first.

Do you personally know of anyone who get a passport without having at least one Trini-born parent? Is T&T so anything could happen, but according to the law, one of the parents must be born in T&T.

Yes I do. In fact she played for TT in the u17 world cup. Her grandfather did not give up his TT citizenship when he became a Canadian citizen. Her father was born in Canada. I can't remember the full story. I believe the family moved back to TT when the father was a toddler. Then they returned to Canada when he was 9 or 10. He does have a TT passport. And his daughter played for TT u17 world cup.

Andre Gray at Watford got his Jamaican passport via his grandad even though he had died.

My earliest football memory? My brother used to play for a Sunday league team when he was about six or seven (I’m two years younger) and I always used to come along to watch his training sessions. I loved watching all of the older lads play until one day the coach told me I might as well join in. I did and that’s where it all started really.

Yes Deeks. Ken is Kobi Grandfather. I am in touch with Kobi's father Wayne.
Ken is based down in Orlando. Hoping to move back to T&T at some point.
Unfortunately Victor passed away some years back.

Jayden St Paul signs new contract at Norwich City
ACADEMY

Norwich City Academy goalkeeper Jayden St Paul has signed a new contract at the club through to the summer of 2023.

St Paul signed his first professional contract with the club as recently as July 2021.

“I’m over the moon,” he said. “I only just signed my first contract not so long ago this year, so to be told that I was going to get a new contract was a very proud moment for me and my family.

“It just shows the faith the club have in me. They believe in me and now I want to take the opportunity to repay that faith, so I have to push on and work towards getting into the 23s, improving with the 18s and carrying on the season.”

St Paul feels privileged to work at Lotus Training Centre on a daily basis having joined the club from grassroots football in 2021.

“It’s been great so far,” he said. “The facilities are amazing, nothing like what I have been at before, so I’ve loved every moment of it, improving every day, coming in like a full-time job - I love it.

https://media-cdn.incrowdsports.com/cc459c84-b457-4bb4-a070-51805f6eaa42.jpg
“I’ve developed a lot, massively, mentally and physically. I’ve improved my body and improved my game and that’s down to the coaches and all the guys in the gym helping me every day to improve. It’s paying off so far.”

The Under-18s had a difficult start to the season but St Paul credits the coaching staff at the club for keeping the young Canaries fighting together.

“Especially at the start of the season, the results definitely affected us, but credit to the coaches for rallying us together,” he said. “Results recently have been improving and performances have been improving, which has increased team morale. Hopefully, going into the second half of the season, we can start getting some more good results.

“I’ve made a few appearances on the bench for the 23s, so for the rest of the season I want to keep doing that and hopefully get some minutes with them.”

FF, I now seeing your reply. Cool. He has the Henry look. Good luck to him. If he has the bravery to play for TT, more power to him. He is more than welcome. Yeah, I know "Sharkey" passed quite a few years ago. Was surprised when I heard that. Blessings to all of them.

Easter Greetings to all Soca Warriors and their families. So yesterday was the start of the combine tryouts for foreign born Trinis. The turnout was  good. Saw one or former TT players who came to watch. Evans Wise, Kendall Walkes, Trevor Leiba. Even met Jean-Luc Rochford for the first time. Nice kid. Everything was well organized. At was held in NE DC at a refurbished city recreation center. Nice astro turf field. Players all set in their uniforms and thing.  Forum, there are some pretty good players in this batch. If we can get at least five or ten would be a good start.  I saw some good players. I saw one skinny read head kid doing somethings in the mid-field was pretty good. The games were fast and hard tackling. Some the players needed attention for various collisions.

I am familiar with one player. His name is Toafik Lucas-Walker. He is from the area and I think he has been to TT for tryouts in the past. He has grown into a fine young man. He is strong, fast and the attacks the 50/50 balls with tenacity. I say he ready for national duty. I might be biased. There was another tall lanky kid who played forward. Fast and good ball control. Did not get his name. Was told his dad is Wayne Federicks. Howard U. president. Not sure. Will verify.

This kind of sessions are long overdue. They are plenty of good foreign born out there. Right now I think some of them have the edge because they are in academies or playing for some of the development teams in the USSF or various state organizations. Today is the final day and down to Ft. Lauderdale. That's it, Warriors. Blessing.
