Well-packaged. Happy hunting to one and all.

The only word that seems to be missing from the release is "Canada". Aside from Tiger Fitzpatrick who else among the named is there?

None of the named are in Canada, but we are building a vast network of people throughout the USA and Canada who can assist in one way or another. So they may not be a so-called scout, but a resource nevertheless.

Nice to see some ex-players there, but is the insistence on Trini nationality for scouts/identifiers a bit of a strait-jacket?

There is no insistence that the scouts are of Trini nationality. However, we reached for the lowest hanging fruit in order to get up and running ASAP. It is far more likely for Trinis to know of other Trinis, so it makes sense. Plus it's a volunteer position. Naturally, as things progress we will encounter non-Trinis who would be willing to help, and it's not like they would be turned down. It's an all hands on deck approach.

Anton Corneal might know a few players in the US as he worked here a while. Andre Fortune Senior, Kendall Walkes,  and we have Stephen Hart in Canada... Marvin Andrews (Scotland).... Chris Birchall (UK)....

We need a Women team scout as well, maybe Mayless Johnson, she is based in Atlanta, I think and, Randy Waldrum is excellent... Lauryn Hutchinson (USA), Arin King (Canada)....

Good team regardless..

I imagine positive contact has already been made with most of those above, so there are no disappointments or surprises. Wouldn't like them to only discover their participation on this site.

Positive start to North American combine.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation Technical Director Anton Corneal expressed a sense of optimism following Sunday’s combine for North American-based players at the Old Boys High Field ground in Brooklyn, New York.

Staged in conjunction with the Champs Soccer Academy and the Central Brooklyn Soccer Federation, a total of  eight players eligible of representing Trinidad and Tobago at the Under 17 level and thirteen  Under 12 players, were present at the two-hour session which was witnessed by Corneal. This was Corneal’s first overseas scouting assignment since taking up the position of technical director earlier this year.

Trinidadians Anthony Lambert, Dario Trujillo and Dr Michael Hamlet were instrumental in setting up the combine through their affiliation with the Champs Soccer Academy which is home to several players from the Caribbean that are based in the Brooklyn area in New York. Lambert is the CEO and director of Champs Academy while Trujillo is the regional senior vice president and also a youth coach within the academy.

Corneal sees potential and praised the efforts of the Champs Academy and Central Brooklyn Federation.

“I thought it went well for a start. We are very pleased to see that this is being organized in the United States because it gives players an opportunity to know that they are not being left out. It is only going to grow and I pray that the groups up here will get together and see this as a way of them looking forward to us coming here and vice-versa,” Corneal told TTFF Media.

Corneal added that in future players from other age groups will have the opportunity to display their ability.

“At another time we will have other age groups for boys and girls in the Under 15s and Under 20 age groups and players eligible for our senior team will also get that chance.

This is now going to challenge the players back home because they are no longer the only ones being seen by national coaches.  We probably will not get 15 or 20 players to make up a national team but if we get one or two players then it’s definitely going to be a plus for us.”

Some past national players including 1974 World Cup team goalkeeper Kelvin Barclay and George Romano were also present at the Old Boys field.

Lambert, who holds a  coaching Diploma in both the State and Regional Level from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), gave the assurance that the relevant information pertaining to US-based players will be passed on to the TTFF on an ongoing basis and he intends to continue a relationship between both bodies.

“The objective of this was to get the players based in the North American area to come out and expose themselves and it’s  a step in the right direction for us,” Lambert said.

“It’s about creating a platform to get the players at the various age groups to come out and showcase their talent to give the coaches from the national teams program to have that opportunity to see the players available for possible national selection.

The kids have that desire and the more opportunity to create for them then the more they will be encouraged to work towards becoming better and giving us the possibility of increasing our pool of players,” Lambert added.

As to the comment regarding the role of the Technical Committee vis-a-vis the recommendation of TIPP,  there are two considerations that were either underappreciated or not appreciated by Narada and Steve. First,  TIPP falls under the umbrella of the Technical Committee both in its conception and its delegation of authority and responsibility. Consequently, the Technical Committee serves as a repository of TIPP's recommendations.  The notion that TIPP would present directly to the respective coaching staffs is a misdirected notion and not consistent with best practices in parallel or similar environments. The Technical Committee is also the repository of the NT coaches and the TD. As such,  coordination and implementation and oversight and management of the global process are most adequately fostered through a centralized and consistent mechanism. It is irrelevant whether, at the point of receiving information about scouted players, the Technical Committee has seen the players. Not only is the remedy of that as a concern obvious and inherent,  to suggest it is not reflective of what happens in the real world. Further, being identified is not the end of the process it is an intermediate step in the process.

Surprised he was never called up for the Under 20 team which Stern John is the assistant coach or was before FIFA came in.

Orange County SC Communications

Orange County SC is delighted to announce the signing of current U.S. U17 International, Kobi Henry. The 16-year-old, central defender joins the club from Inter Miami CF Academy.

“We are thrilled to add Kobi, a very talented and one of the best young players in his position in the US to our roster,” said OCSC President of Soccer Operations, Oliver Wyss. “Kobi has shown great maturity on and off the field and we are convinced that he has a great professional career in front of him. Adding another US Youth International to our club shows that we continue to strive to be at the forefront of player development in the US.”

The Florida native made 16 appearances in the Development Academy this past season for Inter Miami CF Academy, where his performances saw him receive Youth National Team recognition.

“Kobi is a very exciting and talented signing for our club,” said OCSC Head Coach, Braeden Cloutier. “My staff and I are looking forward to leading him through his development at Orange County.”

Henry was selected to compete in the UEFA Development Tournament for the U.S. U17’s held at St George’s Park, England in February of this year. Henry started in two of the three matches, against England and Denmark.

“Signing my first professional contract is a dream come true and I am excited to live what I’ve been working towards for so many years,” said Kobi Henry. “I am thrilled to meet my teammates and get to work on and off the field and continue to develop in a professional environment with the help of the amazing staff at Orange County.

“Orange County was extremely hospitable to me and my family. The entire staff ensured that we felt welcome ed to their club. I was impressed by the work ethic and passion that was displayed during my visit and I felt at home in Orange County.”

Henry becomes the 8th current Youth National Team player on the Orange County SC roster. Joining the likes of Francis Jacobs (U.S. U15’s) and Blake Malone (U.S. U20’s).

Per club policy, terms of player contracts with Orange County SC will not be released.
