My Take on the game:

1.  The ref did a horrible job.  Now I see why people have been complaining about Yorke being hacked down in the Australian League.

2.  We need to get back to possessing the ball, and pressing higher up the field.  I though we sat back for a while and allowed them to penetrate our defence with the through passes.  Avery was especially vulnerable to those.  He neither got to the ball or followed the runner.  For a while, he reminded me of the Avery that I played against in the colleges league--grit but not much technical ability.  He needs to get it right because he was the weak link in the defence tonite.

3.  Stern John is isolated up front.  If you're going to play a target forward, then the team needs to relize that they have to push up to support the guy.  How many times was that ball played across the goal and there was no one in the box to get it it?  We seemed too afraid of the counter.

4.  Jack needs to sort his defence out better.  The marking was poor and he was definiitely not communicating enough with his defenders.  Frankly. Shaka commands more respect from the players, and they seem more composed when he is in goal.

5.  It's a one game final on Wednesday.  We need to just think about winning; we have nothing to lose at this point.

To add to this, I would like to point out that the work in the middle of the park on the defensive end was not enough. Despite Birchall's GREAT goal, if he is the primary holding midfilelder, then BAH had too much time in and around the box, and not enough was done to break up their (sparse) attacks in the middle of the field.Their midfielders weren't closed down/harried enough and this gave them confidence.
My only comments on the offensive side of the field are about Latas (sub-par game), Carlos (needs to be more agressive because NONE of the BAH team can handle him), and generally we need to force the tempo pf the game; BAH cannot cope with the pace and skill of T&T. This is our offensive advantage and we need to press it home in Manama.

Bless...

Their captain got the second yellow and he misses the game wednesday.

That was the #10 right?

yes

mohammed salmeen
Salmeen was good (seems skilful). If he and the No 3 player are out for the next game, great advantage to us. Hubail was not good today...

as i have said in other threads...is another 90 mins of football we goin to...Trinidad and tobago didnt show up today...but the postice of that is even tho we played not the best football we showed they cant beat us on even such a bad day! Therefore i see the second leg in bahrain as a positve as i dont see Bahrain being able to hold us without scoring for 90 mins....we will prevail....the negativity is not needed...Yes we all kno the bahrainis showed they play an unappetizing style of football but who are we to say anything...we cant becuz they are the ones who figure they are on top....i shall let any bahraini say wah they want right now cuz i only responding to them after wednesday!

Bah played a very poor and distressing game. No life whatsoever. NONE. No emotion. NO skill. Nothing. They do not deserve to be in the world cup at all. Not now. Not ever.

Nuff said.. GO WARRIORS!!! ;) :D
well if we got nothin' we wouldn't be @ port of spain & we wouldn't held u @ ur home
lemme just remind about teh match we had more shots on the goal than u & more corners (according to match stat.) we got good teamwork controling over ball. I admit that TnT's players got more dribbling skills than our team but ZERO teamwork even the gool was from long range shot (it was a wonderful goal). Our team is a small Gremany team (no combtions in rate or level) with focus fire on ball holding while your style is mostly like Mexico & Urguay

don't worry about it...... ur team is more than welcome in Manama  ;)

Seriously dred,
Bahrain squad really eh have it technically, but their gameplan was spot on and they earned this draw.
Having said that, we all know that T&T can play much better than this, and I am completely sure that we will.
I think Latas was savin it in the tank and we goin all out, guns blazing.
Nothing pisses me off more than racism, and ppl who you know that act like they don't know you.

Fellas real keepin it positive on this site. Nice...ah have to admit after that game I was real distressed ...ah salt meh boys to stay home and mope.

Beating Bahrain and Bahrain is real difficult...but we expect nothing less than the Warriors FULL potential, effort and ability, we still waiting for it...and that will bring us something in our favour.

:whew: This is an acceptable result.
I think we should just consider the game after the first goal. The game totally changed. We play best under presssure. Carlos showed that Bah cannot handle skill. Whitley just need to rip two men early in the game and let them defenders start worrying bout other men beside Latapy. The team played like the old warriors before bBeenie. Though it was disheartening I have hope once we continue where we left off in this game we will be moving on.

We always claiming god is ah trini. Stern second goal against Mex confirm it.  Birch goal cntinues to prove. Those were very lucky bounces at the right time.

I HAVE FAITH. WHAT ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!
