Women Warriors beat Haiti 3-1 to stay alive.

Goals from Kennya Cordner and Stephanie Barrow gave T&T’s Women Warriors their first win of the 2005 Caribbean Football Union Women’s Under-20 Competition as they beat Haiti 3-1 in their second of their three-match programme.
After Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Jamaica, Tuesday’s match at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar may have been challenging for the young women carrying this country’s hopes of getting one of three spots in the Concacaf leg of the competition, but they commendably raised their heads and their level of play to take the convincing victory.
In the 12th minute Cordner put T&T ahead after Maylee Attin-Johnson set her up with a sharp left-sided cross, which she deftly guided into the right side of the net to put the home team ahead.
Haiti’s Roselene Joseph then brought her team back into the match when she capitalised on a goalkeeping error in the 39th minute, but Aveann Douglas’ defence splitting through ball allowed Cordner another opportunity to give T&T the lead on the stroke of half time.
The teams went into the half with the score at 2-1.
Early in the second half T&T’s Stephanie Barrow benefited from Ayaana Russell’s well-weighted pass which allowed her enough space to crack in T&T’s third goal of the match in the 48th.
T&T will be in action tonight in their final match of the competition against Suriname at 7 pm at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, while Jamaica plays Haiti in the first match of the double-header at 5pm.

Results:

T&T 3 (Kennya Cordner 12th, 45th, Stephanie Barrow 48th) vs Haiti 1 (Roselene Joseph 39th).
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
