Chin Lee, Warner move to market TT to the world.
T&T Newsday Reports.

Warriors take TT to Germany
Tourism Minister Howard Chin Lee and FIFA Vice president Jack Warner are moving to devise a powerful marketing plan for TT, as the recent success of the football Warriors has helped put this country on the world map. Speaking during the 2005 Tourism Awards held at The House of Angostura yesterday, Chin Lee said the ministry was already making plans to capitalise on the enormous opportunity to showcase both Trinidad and Tobago to the whole world.
"This tournament is the most watched sporting event in the world, and TT will be part of it next year. The year 2006 will be an exciting year with TT’s marketing potential and the availability to brand TT," said Chin Lee. In a recent trip to the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, Chin Lee said meetings were held with various airlines, including Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, which he said are looking to establish flights directly to TT.
According to recent surveys, Chin Lee reported that TT has seen an eight percent increase in the number of visitors this year when compared with 2004. Chin Lee said he expected the overall number of arrivals to exceed 500,000 by the end of the year. Chin Lee said the growth in the local tourism industry has contributed significantly, generating 14 percent of this country’s income.
In a recent study published by the world renowned World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Chin Lee said it showed that visitors will spend TT$4.2 billion in 2005. This money will support 34,000 jobs directly and a total of 96,000 jobs both directly and indirectly.
Chin Lee said plans for World Cup Cricket 2007 were also underway in terms of accommodating visitors to TT. "We want our visitor economy to grow, and this Government is investing heavily in new developments," said Chin Lee.
Chin Lee said a brand new 428-room Hyatt Hotel and Conference Centre will open on the Port-of-Spain waterfront in late 2007. Other strategies to enhance the visitor experience were also offered by Cliff Hamilton, the visitor experience manager of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. Hamilton said certain standards will have to be met in order for visitors to have a memorable experience.
Awards were presented during yesterday’s ceremony to hotels in both Trinidad and Tobago that met customer satisfaction. For the Trinidad hotels, Pax Guest house emerged first in the small category, Royal Hotel (1978) emerged first in the medium category and the Kapok Hotel emerged first in the large category.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
