Birmingham chief blasts Dwight Yorke.
Special Broadcasting Service.

Birmingham City chairman David Sullivan has accused Dwight Yorke of being disrespectful to the clubs supporters and lazy. As the Trinidad & Tobago international mulls over a move to the A-League, Sullivan told the UK tabloid The Sun: “Dwight Yorke is being paid £20,000 a week by Birmingham and has not been one of our most successful signings.
“He is a straggler, which is not enthralling for the fans.
“He does not appear to be very energetic which is disrespectful to Birmingham City fans.
"He appeared to not even break into a sweat against Blackburn. In our performance against Chelsea last week Mehdi Nafti ran his socks off, Walter Pandiani ran his socks off.
“That is what people want to see at Birmingham - total effort.”
A-League club Sydney FC is awaiting an answer from Yorke as to whether he will sign for them. A decision is expected tomorrow.
Birmingham meanwhile is believed to be prepared to make up any shortfall in wages, just to offload the striker. Yorke will not feature for the Blues again, as the 33-year-old is two games away from triggering a clause which means it will be forced to offer him a new, year long contract.

Dwight Yorke have to change this lazy way about his play,,, for a fit player he does look lame. Stern John seems to be following in his shoes, these men must be more penetrative in their runs and work more off the ball,,, its not to late to turn it around.

Lets hope Leo Beenhakker can bring out the best in them or use them as subs if they not performing.

Ah feel Sealy and Norville should be given a looked at, we need to start seeking replacments,,,, just incase and both of them is presently doing ok for their teams.

Read between the lines

It not about Yorke form or style of play

It is about money

they said " We would be forced to offer Yorke a new contact if he plays in 2 more games"

I am sure Bir realize that Yorke was not good enough to lead the attack and hence rather than be forced to offer him a new contract they might as well just drop him and cut the losses.

If you is a players and you realized you would not be playing in the first team no more is obvious that you would stop putting any effort in reserve games or anything and focus more on finding a new club

I'm not a Yorke expert, but I'll say this.

He never looked lazy playing for TT.

remember fellas, this david sullivan is de same man who tell yorke that he shoulda just go tuh de other end of de field when he was being racially abused! dem fall out long time and this is just a continuation of that!

Yorke has been playing well and steve bruce himself has admitted that but its just that the yorke heskey combination was linking well but wasnt producing goals!

And KND, you are totally right, its all about de money! do you think that it is convienient that he has only two more appearances to make?

Excerpt from Evening Mail article.
Heskey wins Bruce's backing

Nov 18 2004

By Colin Tattum, evening Mail

.............
"The first four, five, six games I thought Emile was terrific. "But he has struggled lately because it is difficult on your own up the top. We've gone that way because of the injuries we've had and that's not helped him.

"When we pair him with Dwight Yorke, they are both very similar. They both want to come to the ball and that's when you need one to complement the other, to go the other way.

"Having said that, if you look at the Everton game, Emile carried the biggest threat and went closest to scoring until Yorkie had that chance at the end."
.......

"Let's hope he can produce another spark for us and give Emile a hand. He's also the type who can complement Dwight and the way he likes to play.

"Dwight's not like he was 10 years ago when he'd go in behind, we all know that, but Clinton can give us such an option."
