Uruguay didn't qualify but look at the kind of opposition they'll face next year.

Uruguay To Face England, Germany, And France.
12/26/2005 4:47:00 AM

Uruguay, who missed out on a place in the 2006 World Cup after a penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of Australia has confirmed that they will play three friendly matches against European opposition next year.
On Christmas Day the AUF confirmed that Uruguay will face World Cup hosts Germany, England, and France before the World Cup, as they look to rebuild the side looking ahead towards the upcoming Copa America, and the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers.

According to the AUF Uruguay will face England on March 3 in London, France on the 2nd of June in Paris, and Germany on the 6th of June in a yet to be confirmed German city.

The matches will be used as World Cup preparation for all of Uruguay’s opponents and it is understood that the match against Germany will be the World Cup hosts final warm up game before they face Costa Rica in the World Cup inauguration match on June 9.

Hold up!!!!!
Wasn't it mentioned on another thread that all WC warm up games MUST conclude by a certain date prior to the WC? ....  or was that just one of Beenie's mandates?
If not, how come other teams sweating big games 1 week before the campaign?

Ah think ah know what yuh trying to infer but at the same time..look at the predigree of Uruguay and the type of tactics and players they have.  Qualify or not they are a class team..I would have loved the Warrriors to have played them in a second if the opportunity arose.

The answer is because teams are trying to play Jamaica in order to get a feel for Caribbean style football. Although it is arguable that our football styles are different the only reason why England is playing you guys is in order to prepare themselves for our game. Therefore Beenhaker is smart enough not to waste his time and money playing you guys when we could be playing teams that will better prepare us for the teams that we have to face in the World Cup. And Jamaica is not one of them.
