The inaugural Deaf Futsal League (DFL) will kick off tomorrow (Saturday August 5) at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sport Arena, in Tacarigua with a opening ceremony from 3pm.

DFL is working under Deaf Sports T&T (DSTT) is geared towards inspiring the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community of T&T to display their skills in Futsal and will run until August 20, with a period of five competition days.

DFL comprises of five men’s teams in Blue Bears led by Shemuel Cadogan, Black Scorpions led by Christopher Goomansingh, Purple Leopards led by Rodan Lee Wing, Red Sharks led by Nyron Noel and White Hawks led by Joel Piper and two women’s teams in Pink Panthers led by Tenielle Smith and Orange Dolphins led by Akeisha Ferdinand.

Valdano Tobias is the chairman of DFL along with seven committees and the number of participants (both Deaf men and women) numbers, 56.

It is our expectation that our DFL will be stimulate awareness and recognition of the enthusiasm of persons who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing who wants to excel in futsal locally and abroad. for more info, call at 341-4023.

DFL expressed gratitude to the main sponsor, National Lottery Control Board (NLCB) for donating as well as T&T Association for the Hearing Impaired (T&TAHI) for trophies, medals and others. However, DFL is in need of financial assistance.

The other competition dates includes August 6, 12, 13 at Tacarigua and August 20 at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas. Entry fee will be paid with $20.
