SW TOURING the sport event management organisation, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Guild of Students 2010-11, will host SW Futsal Invitational - The Female Edition on December 11 at the Eastern Regional Sport Arena, Tacarigua.

This day-long six-a-side tournament will take place from 9 am to 7 pm, with 16 teams, comprising the best of Trinidad and Tobago’s women footballers, showcasing their skills in the smaller version of the game.

A ‘winner-takes-all’ jackpot of $5,000 and the SW Futsal Invitational Female Challenge Trophy is on offer, while there will also be prizes for the other participating teams, including medals and awards, such as the Most Valuable Player, Golden Boot and Golden Gloves.

There will also be added attractions for the fans, such as the SW All Star Exhibition Match, Freestyle Ball Juggling, Shootout and Obstacle Competitions.

“This competition is the continuation of our Futsal information and sensitising campaign through the encouragement of female team participation in the tournament,” said tournament event manager Geoffrey Edwards. “We also see this as an opportunity to bridge the social and sporting gap with the ultimate aim of improving women’s standing in our society.”

The dynamic fusion of sports and entertainment, for which SW Touring events are renowned, will be evident as the venue was transformed into the “Futsal Nation” with live entertainment, a food area, well stocked non-alcoholic bar and many more attractions.
