Panama hold Trinis 2-2

TRINIDAD and Tobago's senior footballers were held to a 2-2 draw by Panama in a friendly international in Panama City Tuesday night.

The result broke T&T's eight-game winning streak for this year which included victories  over 1998 World Cup finalists Jamaica, South Africa and most recently Colombia.

Trinidad and Tobago got their goals from Joe Public duo Nigel Pierre (60th minute) and Angus Eve (78th minute).

Panama took the lead in the 11th minute when local debutant goalkeeper Kelvin Jack committed an infringement inside the 18-yard box to give up a penalty.

T&T fought back to take the lead in front of a crowd which included FIFA vice-president Jack Warner, with Pierre nicely hitting over the Panamanian 'keeper from about 20 yards out.

Eve then shot home with a low right footer to give T&T a 2-1 lead but T&T failed to hold on as the 142nd ranked Panamanians grabbed the equaliser in the closing 10 minutes.

Columbus Crew star striker Stern John and defender Ansil Elcock did not line up for T&T after officials of the Crew requested they remain with the club ahead of Sunday's MLS play-off against Tampa Bay Mutiny.
