Cornell GlenStriker Cornell Glen has been signed on a one-year agreement by North East Stars and the benefits can go both ways.

Stars new Head Coach Angus Eve is currently molding a mixture of youth and experience, where he hopes the 31 year old Glen would fit in the later, for the upcoming 2012-2013 TT Pro League season.

And while Glen is excited to share his experience, the 2006 Trinidad and Tobago World Cup player hopes to rekindle his goalscoring ways.

“I think the organization is a good organization, looking to go forward and doing some good things for youths. And to join an organization like this is always a good thing,” said the former San Juan Jabloteh forward over his decision to join the Sangre Grande club.

“I think they have a good plan in place for the club and youth players for the future. And to be a part of something like that and to be able to help, transferring my knowledge to some of the younger players is always something to be pleased with.”

Glen, had two seasons at now dissolved Futgof, before joining Portuguese fourth division club Sanjoanense in 2000, for two seasons and returned to Trinidad in 2002 joining Jabloteh where he made a name for himself and later moved to the United States Major League Soccer (MLS) with MetroStars (2004), FC Dallas (2005), Columbus Crew(2005), Colorado Rapids (2006) and Los Angeles Galaxy.

He then returned to Jabloteh in 2007 bounced across to Ma Pau SC in 2008 and then back to the San Juan club. In 2009 he joined San Jose Earthquakes and had a successful season, but plagued by injuries, he followed up with a disappointing 2010.

In 2011 Glen spent months training with Caledonia AIA but never suited up for the Morvant-Laventille club. He then had unsuccessful trials with Vietnamese club Song Lam Nghe An FC and China’s Shen Yang FC and has been inactive since February of this year.

“I promise that I would come here and work hard, give a hundred percent and hopefully we can win some trophies,” said the now North East Stars striker following a workout at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

“I’m not going to promise any [number of] goals because you never know what can happen. But I’m definitely going to be working hard and try and score as much goals as I can.

“I’m about 80 percent right now and I’m only getting better. I had a rough year and a half and I’m just trying to put that behind me. I’m now trying to work hard and have a good season.

“I just want to play football and enjoy the game again and play consistently and hopefully start back scoring goals. As for the future, whatever happens, once I work hard and do the right things, its only bright things can happen,” Glen concluded.
